Is an associate the equivelant of a CA?  What are the main differences between an Associate and a Made?

No they aren't, an associate is someone who wants to be part of the family and will work their way up to hopefully to one day become made. A CA is a low down dirty agent who has tasted the cash available to them if they use their connections for unlawful gains. But ultimately they have no desire to actually join a family and just want to get rich off the back of us.

In the eyes of a CL, what is an Associate?

An associate is a member of your crew. Someone you should be eager to train and make them ready to someday become a member of your Family.
