At first glance, the concept of certain bloodlines being automatically given a bold suit, when they come of age, is egregious.

Or is it?

Prominent bloodlines bring with them personnel, methodology, growth and drama, do they not?

So, dear friends, my question to you is two pronged:

Should certain bloodlines be welcomed back into bold suits?

And, if so, please state which bloodlines you mean?

I'll start...

Certain bloodlines distinguish themselves by their seamless merit.  Whilst in all cases, due consideration should be given to all bloodlines, some will clearly stand head and shoulders above others.

Which bloodline would I welcome back?  Scipita, Gaius, Deimne and, SgtSlaughter.

The concept of bloodlines being automatically given auth isn't as straight forward as people believe.

No-one gets auth because of who their ancestor was. At least not in my familys experience. Its true the same bloodlines do time and time again rise to the top, this is purely down to the fact that these people carry the same hard working trait as their fathers and mothers
did, they earn the right to put on that bold suit.

I would challenge anyone to name an auth, current or recent history, where the person hadn't earned the right to be there and was given the position based solely on their ancestory. I can't name anyone, but then I don't claim to know the ins and outs of all the auths we've had in this thing of ours.

Also, I see no need for us to name bloodlines that you would love to see return. Its tacky in my opinion. Of those you mention, I know two are very hard working members of our community, when they want to be. There are many great hard working bloodlines in this thing
of ours.

Well Tyrion, people love to talk and people love to talk about other people.  For you to describe this as "tacky" is an assault on the very nature of the fabric of our society. 

I believe, wholeheartedly, that ********* was Auth'd for no other reason than the bloodline he or she came from.  I cannot actually name this bloodline for fear of antagonising people with guns.

One name says it all TheKing lol. I must say there are lots of people out there that could be authed, the one thing that people tend to forget is that not everyone wants Auth for various reaons. So while there are bloodlines out there that may be more suited to Auth and others that get it more its not always a case of handing the reins from friend to friend, though it can be.

Who first auth'd your bloodline, TheKing, and what happened?

Many people are authed just because of their bloodlines. You can't deny the obvious. The same applies to RHM and LHM positions. How often do you see a Gangster RHM? How can you earn it in 24 hours?

I'd like to see tyrionlannister in a bold suit.

Something tells me the little man could do wonders for our society.

Some bloodlines are made to lead, some just don't have it in them to lead, others get given slanty suits simply because they excel at it, others get slanty suits for god knows what reason. Alot is based on perceptions, take the tita bloodline you know if you can get her in a slanty suit she will excel.

However we are mafiosa not watchers of reality tv and this speech is very much a reality tv popularity contest.

My bloodline was authed in the long ago days when you could auth yourself. From the journals of my ancestors of that day it seems that they had taken control of LV. It was short lived, due to a misfire legend believes.

I don't think anybody is authed because of their bloodline, nor should they be.  Maybe the better way to say that is - nobody is authed ONLY because of their bloodline.  They are authed because of the work they put in. 

So, the short answer to the question is NO - nobody should be authed because of their bloodline.  People with prestigious names or lines have to put in the work just like the rest of us, and they do. 

Perhaps, there are exceptions, but for the most part - this is the rule.

I'v consulted my family journals, was it not that your ancestor was auth'd but was executed for borrowing money from a rival family and gambling the money you were meant to kick up to your boss?

There is a obscure entry that does mention a family member that had issues with gambling and money was borrowed, though not from a rival. However that family member was not Auth'ed. Though I do believe he was in the Upper Structure of a Family.

I assume that reply was meant for somebody else and just happened to appear after my reply - as my ancestor was never executed for borrowing money from anybody or gambling money away.

TheKing was indeed auth'd with a ten man crew.  He borrowed money from an infamous money lender from a rival city, purchased a larger HQ (against his boss's wishes) then gambling millions in his boss's casino whilst claiming to be broke.

He was killed for this.

My bloodline has had its issues in the past just as any other, I would hope that just as my bloodline has grown and learned from the misdeeds of the past that others would as well. It doesn't due to dwell too much on the past, its the future that needs to be seen to.

I have no idea what you were trying to say. Please do explain so I might have the chance to offer some form of retort for you.

I find the idea of a prestigious bloodline somewhat laughable. Of course I find the whole concept behind the idea flawed to begin with. The problem with it is that it disengages rank and promotion in this thing of ours from our present accomplishments in favor of the ludicrous idea that ones past defines their future. A concept all to readily embraced when it comes to past accomplishments, but readily dismissed when irate children return to act like little bitches and punks. While I will certainly mention my family's past when apporpriate, I hope to be judged on who I am, now who they were and I certainly to pine for the days of yore when so and so was leading.

If some bloodline always lead, outcome always same. World needs new blood at times to present new idea. Try things old blood say "Thats not how things work around here"...Why not old blood? It because old blood stuck in old way. Old blood become complacent. New blood new idea. New idea new culture. New culture new atmosphere. Look around. Look hard. Look very hard. Same people on top, same results on bottom. There are many who deserve chance but if you have same leader he will pick same friend. He will pick friend he pick the last 8 times. He will say I trust him. He will say he has experience and he will continue to say this as he always has. Leadership is "good ol boy" system. You not "good ol boy" you not leader.

Wisdom, no need to be cryptic. You imply that by taking the name of an ancestor, blah blah blah. Lets just say my parents grew tired of trying to come up with something new all the time, plus it turns out the suits already purchased and hanging in the closet fit me. I could dig up old speeches from past family and pretend to talk to them on the streets I suppose.
