Remove wackback - counter with tapered guns Started by: Squishy on Sep 25, '12 18:40

Following what I suggested, everyone, after a certain point, should start to see a decrease in the game from the +1, not just the top 10. I would like to see the quality of kill being worth more than +1, but it would again relate to your current standard and then begin to taper off after a certain point, until, eventually, you would only get +0.1 off a Godfather kill as well.

One thing is for sure, it would take a lot of the certainty of wack out of the game as not many would be able to accurately count their effective wack stat.

I think this is a great suggestion and a most effective way to actually taper off more than just one gun at a time which wackback is mostly notorious for doing. As others have said, sure some SuperGodAccounts have suffered a loss to wackback, but more often than not, it is smaller "middling" accounts that get hit the hardest and the game has even lost players due wacking back so many times. Wackback also prevents people from putting more into their accounts than they might if they knew there was no chance to die just from a bad roll. I completely support this.

This is going to be a huge advantage to those who are near the BG cap and have already gotten the +1's that would have been fractions. It appears to me that this will create an imbalance that favors old accounts with big guns. Correct me if I am wrong.

Report Post Tip

Your not wrong Mercury, same thing goes for stopping demotion for BG's. Those that do it before the change will have an advantage.

Report Post Tip

There is no way to advoid an advantage for some players over others unless a total reset where to occur.

Report Post Tip

Well my opinion on this is to keep the fatal WB but also impliment Tapering. I dont believe that the fatal risk factor should be taken out.

Report Post Tip

I doubt there would ever be a reset, can you remember the last reset where the regime's changed weekly not to mention the game would be too unstable for people to waste money on CA's. Then there is the people who have spent lots of credits on their accounts already. If there ever where a reset there would have to be a 4-6 month notice so no one could complain about all the work they have put into their account.

Report Post Tip

By the same logic Flash, couldn't they just put in a change giving similar notice and then a reset isn't required?

Report Post Tip

To keep everything dynamic so it works with the game regardless of how many active players, what about just doing the top 1-1.5% of the guns in the game, rather than a hardcoded top 10.

Report Post Tip

Tbh, I would rather that the change be made and known only be Squishy and the fellow Coders. That way, the users are more in the dark with regard to how the guns actually work, making it harder to "know" if you can hit a certain level of bodyguards. At the moment we all know what is required to hit certain levels, bringing back some uncertainty would be good.

Report Post Tip

I would agree with Warrior.

Better off that the users don't know when or even if they are affected by this change or by how much.

Although I would still not sponsor it unless it was introduced in conjunction with fatal wackback rather than instead of.

"I doubt there would ever be a reset, can you remember the last reset where the regime's changed weekly not to mention the game would be too unstable for people to waste money on CA's."

Untrue. The new change where it's linked to your master account takes care of this quite nicely. Furthermore, I actually think if there were a reset, which imho is the only way to make this, or an extreme BG change work, it would bring in more revenue for the site.

Think about it...Those who can buy credits, know people with credits, afford credits ig (follow me here), will all be in a position to attempt getting into power. Now think about...This is going to make people want to buy credits more...Which is going to drastically drive down the marketplace value of credits. Which doesn't REALLY give an advantage to those who buy with rl cash, because the marketplace value would be cheap enough for people to afford anyway.

Report Post Tip

Shorter life cycles are better, imo. People have less to lose and risk things more often, making it somewhat more fun.

Grin, by eliminating the risk of WB, you would implement tons of income to the game. The dozens of hitters who have reached their target gun and are now only shooting bodyguards no longer purchase MIAs. By elminating WB, however temptering the gun stats so that it is only .1 of a kill, you are allowing for credits 4 credits to be used every 2 days. This is eliminating money from the game, as well as creating income for servers by those who purchase credits.

The elimination of WB death is no only effecting the top 10, it is effecting the 50-60 users who have spent 2-3 months and have trained a 200-300 kill gun they are proud of. These users will benefit the most from the elimination of WB death, and a large amount of users will begin to use credits once again. This will create a larger supply for credits, thus lowering the price of credits to the community as a hole.

Also, this opens door for users to go for achievements they ultimately would not be able to go for, due to risk of WB death.
I think the elimination of WB death is beneficial for the majority of users. Honostly, you are far more likely to see someone on the verge of building a gun to take out one of the top dogs die of WB death, instead of seeing one of the actual top dogs die.

Top 10% aren't the ones training regularly. Sure, you get an exception every once in a while, such as Marston, however that is not the norm.

Report Post Tip

I've never really liked the fact that you could die from a WB when it came to the MIA's and RIA's, MIA's mainly because you pay for those yet you can lose your account to one which has happened to a lot of people, whether the payment to get the MIA was from donated cash or bought off the market doesn't really matter, it sucks either way. It's something that I have wanted to see changed for a long time. However, I do not want to see it gone from Durden's or real player accounts (including the Gangster IA's we stumble upon in our racing for IA's). That risk to get shot in the face when they defend themselves should always be there, as it has for years since MR started.

What I'd like to suggest, rather than screwing over the top 10 players so people can gain on them. Is that you make it so that each rank gives a certain amount of kill points for your gun.

Let's say a Gangster be it MIA, RIA, Durden or real player - gives you +1, but after x amount of kills it only gives you 0.5 (or less), after that you will either have to settle for that amount or move up in ranks to get more out of it, and Goomba would give you +1 again until x amount of kills is reached where it turns to giving you the same amount as you would for a Gangster, etc etc. I'm not sure which rank, but I think that some higher ranks, maybe Boss+ should still give +1 as there's a higher risk of WB on those.

But the point is people would have to keep going up in ranks, and get the most out of their guns when Durden's spawn or during wars, and not so much from spawning MIA's (which is a must anyway if they want to see Durden's). Either way people would still be able to train their guns on MIA's and RIA's without the fear of dying to them, but if they want to better their guns even more after x amount of kills they will sooner or later have to turn to the Durden's which COULD risk them catching a fatal WB, but I believe that is a risk many are willing to take once every few days if they want to improve in the hitters world.

I can't help but like this idea (and maybe this is part of my game account talking) but it makes zero sense for somebody as well organised, or highly skilled as a Godfather, to be dying from a WB death.

The only two instances I know of, based on the roleplay message, are;

You miss your shot and the person (normally a lowly gangster) turns around and shoots you.

And;

Unproper care of your firearm cause something to fatally hurt your head (I'm not sure if this one is ever completely true).

As far as missing your shot goes, a Godfather who has trained his gun to the ability of 500, 600, 1000 kills, would not just be randomly missing somebody, let alone then giving them the chance to turn around and shoot them back. For them to then be able to shoot through all of the Godfather's Bodyguards as well? Errrr, what?

As far as unproper firearm care goes, a Godfather would not be letting his gun get out of shape in such a way that it's going to harm him the next shot he takes. It would be in prestine condition.

Of course, I have only used to example of a Godfather here, but it goes the same for any hitter. Somebody who was training their gun to the sort of standard to hit the top 10 guns in the game, would not be letting it get dirty, or unproperly cared for. It would be in the best posible condition it could be in, every time they used it.

As for tapering the guns, I personally prefer the second set more. I think only giving the top gun 0.1 of a kill is just too low. Why so drastically punish those that have put in so much hard work to build their guns to that point to begin with?

I also feel as if this would be a bit more mystery and secretiveness into the game. I'm assuming the top 10 guns wouldn't be revealed (I'd hope not anyway!) so the top guns wouldn't know how many kills they were actually getting. Wars would be a lot more unpredictable, as gun strength would not be so easily calculated.

Overall, I'm very in favour of this idea.
