Just the fact that this thread exsits amazes me. Add to that family membeeers somehow feel the need to air their dirty laundry out here in the streets.  No matteer how one fels about Squid, he very obviously accomplished many great things here to make it to the rank of Godfather. What should have ben a celebration in Chicago with him retiring has turned into a 'comedy of errors'. Our leader is now deceased. Can we show some respect and debate elsewhere.

Rest In Peace Squid

The recent take down of our GodFather hurts a lot of the people in Chicago, when we heard the news of his retirement, we all moan for it and was hoping he will not, but the day had come and telling us its time for his retirement we all bow down our head for his greatness, we are all waiting for his speech for his retirement when we all hear a gun shot outside his headquarter we all thought it is a part of his retirement until GodFather Phil_Steak make his statement on his death. Most of us keep quite because everyone was still amaze for what had happen. Even with this statement no one in Chicago has degrade their respect to  the late GodFather. He is one great man, he have done many in the city of Chicago, even he had done something wrong it is the way of life in here, no one is right in here. I admire his capability to lead the city under his command, I admire he respect even a small gangster in his city. When I first step at Chicago one of his trusted man came to me and telling me to come to his office coz he needed me for a job in Chicago, I was amaze for a man from the top will go down to the hill just to talk to me and tell me I am needed to his city. And now am one of the Consig of the city, one of the trusted person in the city of Chicago, I only do hope please respect the death of an old man, He had done everything to his city. And to others don’t degrade yourself, coz if you do, the respect is in the death and the hate will be in you. We all do know how everyone had done in here and we all do respect that if you fail, you fail, but respect is still there, there is no degradation in once fail, it only degrades on how you yourself react on such matters.

My respect to all, especially to all the leaders of Chicago and most specially to our late GodFather SquidMaster.

"Not allowing their friend to walk away like he tried to was fucking pathetic. "

That has got to be the most pathetic thing I heard here. He was trying to walk away? That's silly. Someone who wants to retire, doesn't keep talking about retiring, they just simple freaking retire. A person that wants to call attention goes around saying:

"Hey look at ME! IM RETIRING! in a week or a month MAYBE! ... Should i really retire, please say no friend X"

History has shown plenty of times that certain mobsters with good guns who have showed a certain interest in retiring without actually doing it right away, have become agressive and usually ended up going out with a bang. Once a powerful mobster looses interest in this way of life, they become a danger simple because they don't have anything to loose anymore.

The Godfather in question didn't really had anything to loose considering he was supposedely retiring. If it was me, I would send him to the grave earlier, thats what he wanted anyhow. There is no way I would put my own family at risk keeping someone like that around.

Report Post Tip

He was retiring the night he was shot Y-2013. He had just told Phil_Steak that he was writing up his retirement poster and retiring afterwards... then... BANG.

Another generic response again, assuming this situation is like every other. Before a GODFATHER retires there are a lot of loose ends to tie up, in this case... more than usual. His BG's were already being shot by myself and SpaceCowboy, he didnt have the gun to shoot Phil and was online for less than 30 mins, about 3-4 times a day. So that blows your "sometimes certain mobsters with good guns have become aggressive".

Yes, Phil should have probably sent him to his grave a lot earlier, total agreement there given the reasons Phil put up here. I know I would've done in his position.

I'm glad you only read a minority of responses before replying, because if you'd read them all, I wouldn't be here repeating myself to you.

I apologize to everyone for such a long period of time before responding. Let me continue to add some information that should eliminate any further questions and theories.

I had made up my mind to remove Squidmaster. The target date was actually set to be January 11th. This was prior to SquidMaster announcing his urge for retirement.

Then, within a day or two of my decision, I was informed that the great Godfather would be retiring. Although I wanted to attack him still, my friends in Philly convinced me to allow for the man to retire on his own terms. This would give me what I wanted, would give SquidMaster what he wanted, and would eliminate any risk of something bad happening.

I was content with this, however as the days came and went, he wouldn't retire.
The day finally came, and I had noticed that the Godfathers HQ fortifications were being destroyed. I then found that only certain people were given the permission to shoot at the Godfathers bodyguards.

Now, think of me what you will, but I didn't like this. Had I gone with my original plans anyways, he would have been slain this same day, and his bodyguards would be available for everyone to practice on. So with that, I went ahead and decided that I would simply proceed with my original plans.

As CountDown had stated, that he would have taken the Godfather out sooner. Well my friend, I had indeed decided to do this prior to the Godfathers announcement. When I saw that things weren't going to end up the way I had thought they were, I then proceeded with my original plans.

As a friend, I have nothing against SquidMaster. As a crew leader and a mafioso, I have nothing against him. As a Godfather, I just found that at times, he let his emotions overcome him, and he acted without thinking. This is not me insulting or bashing the man, this is me just stating what I had seen and felt.

Report Post Tip

See, this is what irks me, Mr. Steak.

You mentioned the forts there, but the reason you gave your upper structure (and also Squid's death message) was you were not happy with him only giving his BG's up to Chicago... and here's where the plot thickens. Squidmaster bought his OWN BG's (with his own real life money), Philly put up 20 million towards them, which I imagine Squid had already given Philly in donations and earnings. So why were you so insistent on them being shared around? They were HIS to give away. Let's not forget that during his 7 months of IWP in Philly, not once did he ask for money for re-training, he again used his own money to pay for that. So it's not like the upkeep was a burden either.

Effectively here, you robbed a man of his own (irl) money because you were unhappy that his BG's weren't being shared with anyone outside Chicago. As I have previously stated, I saw with my own eyes (I was his RH) that you were being very friendly with Squidmaster in mobmail just before his death and even when he even told you the thread was coming shortly.

I've held back this word in all my replies so you could have another say on the matter...

But in my eyes there is only one reason that explains your actions on that fateful night... Greed. There, I said it.

Report Post Tip

Countdown,

As I mentioned, it was because I was initially going to kill him anyways, and the BGs would be available. So, him retiring would achieve what I wanted. When I found out he wasn't going to do that, then I just went ahead with my plans.

Like it or not, I'm giving you 100% facts and all of my reasoning. SquidMaster was only given the chance to retire, because I was on the verge of letting him. When things didn't go as I had predicted, I simply proceeded with my initial plans.

And yes, I was being friendly with SquidMaster before his death, because I wanted to see when he would retire. As soon as he said "Probably late tonight or tomorrow", I knew he was giving his people time to shoot the BGs.

Greed? Sure, you can say that.
But I was going to attack him that same day, even if he wasn't retiring. I was giving him the chance to retire, but didn't like how it was going. Taking his IRL money? Nope, because he was retiring anyways. That money was already gone.

Report Post Tip

I was going to stay out of this, but quite frankly there has been a comment made that I now feel compelled to answer.

Let's not forget that during his 7 months of IWP in Philly, not once did he ask for money for re-training, he again used his own money to pay for that.

Oct 23, '12 02:25 Your accountant has made payment of $107,000,000 to SquidMaster.
Oct 22, '12 14:33 Your accountant has made payment of $30,000,000 to SquidMaster.
Oct 21, '12 14:17 Your accountant has made payment of $40,000,000 to SquidMaster.

I could show you more, but unfortunately my accountant's records only seem to go back as far as that. Over SquidMaster's time I had given him at least that same amount again, for him and his family.

I am not here to drag Squid's name through the mud, he deserves respect and not to have people bickering over every detail of him and his leadership. I would like to take the time to pay respect to the man behind the tentacles.

When SquidMaster first joined this world, he was a member of my very own family while I was just starting out in Philadelphia. He joined my family shortly before I took the position of Godfather. In the short time before the transition to Godfather he had already proved to me that he was worth keeping in my much reduced size headquarters.

He stayed there until I made him a captain within Philadelphia. There he worked his ass off, always contributing and doing his best for the city. It was his hard work that earned him his own city, and along with Phil Steak taking Godfather it was one of my proudest moments in this life.

Rest in Peace SquidMaster. Your legacy lives on, and I hope you rest easy in that knowledge.

Report Post Tip

Wow...

So in the end SquidMaster was shot by the Godfather of New Orleans because he wanted to shoot SquidMaster's bodyguards...

Astounding. I'm not going to comment on a Godfather's reasoning.

Just wow....

Report Post Tip

If you listen to what he actually said, it is pretty apparent that wasn't the reason.

Report Post Tip

Right...he was going to kill him anyway blah blah back peddle back peddle....

Report Post Tip

You say you're not going to comment on a Godfather's reasoning, but here you are, doing that exact thing. If you paid any attention at all, as Donbot said, that was not his reasoning. But even if it were... That's his choice. I have seen wars started for lesser things. If he got into an argument and shot him because Squid said his favorite color was red and told Phil that he was wrong because his favorite color was green, he could. He didn't even have to give any reasoning whatsoever, but he chose to. You don't like the reasons? Them's the breaks.

Report Post Tip

Back peddle back peddle?

Excuse you? Where am I back peddling exactly?

I hope you mean that as you back peddling from your previous statement.

Report Post Tip

No problem, noted on that line, boss. Let it be stricken from the record.

This still begs the question as to why Mr. Steak decided to use that death message and reasoning though? Given that Mr. Sin had decided to give Squidmaster that money. Yet I have it on very good authority that PH had absolutely nothing to do with the decision taken by Mr. Steak, which I believe to be true, I am reliably informed that Mr. Steak acted alone (well, help from Chicago too)... which he doesn't really seem to be hiding, so let's not beat around the bush there. If Philly had taken the shot, it seems they would have been well within their rights too, as they had contributed to this fund from the evidence shown by Mr. Sin.

But Philly did not deem it necessary, Mr. Steak did. Yet gave a reason to Squid and his own upper structure that Squid had been killed for only letting Chicago shoot his BG's. Surely, this reasoning is only viable for Philly?

I'm just curious here, my former boss was slain at my feet, turned on by his own city... rightly or wrongly. With numerous totally legitimate reasons to be shot, yet none were used to the 2 sets of people that mattered the most. Squid himself and the New Orleans upper structure.

Is there something I am just totally missing? Because if I'm being an idiot here, please tell me what it is and I will happily ride my days out smoking my crack pipe, while going insane from counting the kitchen tiles on the floor.

Report Post Tip

Countdown,

I am not sure what you're so confused about, I thought I made it pretty clear.

As I was going to kill SquidMaster on Friday originally, those BGs would have been available to everyone.

SquidMaster was only given the chance to retire, based on me not killing him. Since his retirement didn't go as I had hoped it would have, I then proceeded with my initial plans.

I think GodFather DeadlySin was simply pointing out that your comment about SquidMaster paying for his own BGs isn't factual.

Who paid for the BGs isn't my concern however. It could have been DeadlySin (which if so, keep in mind I was a captain in Philly for a long time and kicked up regularly, so it could have very well been partially my earned money), or it could have been SquidMaster from his own personal reserves. Fact is, retirement or not, he would have been dead that same day, and his BGs would have been available for anyone to shoot.

Report Post Tip

Effectively here, you robbed a man of his own (irl) money because you were unhappy that his BG's weren't being shared with anyone outside Chicago.

I don't have much to add regarding Godfather Phil's reasoning, or the any related disputes, but I think comments like that are a slippery slope. I appreciate many mobsters invest money gained through 'other means' into their life of crime here, but no one whether it's a Crewleader, Godfather or even a Rogue should let their actions or choices be influenced by the presence of money from the 'IRL Investment Group'.

Report Post Tip

The thing that few realize is that Godfathers thrive on respect. When they are shown the proper amount of respect that they feel they deserve, they are content. SquidMaster very apparently disrespected Godfather Phil_Steak on more than one occasion from the sounds of it. His attack was planned, the voices had been cash, it was only though last moment details and changes that he was allowed to live past the 11th.

When someone of such a high standing feels slighted, or "gets their feelings hurt" for lack of a better term, there are only a few choice ways that that matter can be settled. Red and green are the usually the only ways to settle these scores. I haven't seen that SquidMaster offered huge sums of money for disrespecting one of the biggest dogs in the land, so blood had to be the only way.

I am trying to think of the mind of Phil_Steak here, so maybe this might be a bit off. When he heard Squid was retiring, he relented to the fact that he could still collect a few choice BG kills for him and, more importantly, his city. He is a man that only wants the best for New Orleans and that much is very clear. When he learned that Squid had intentions of letting Chicago plow down 200+ BGs for themselves, that may have been a tipping point. He knew he could kill SquidMaster, so he reverted to his original plan of punching SquidMasters ticket and allowing his city to shoot at the late Godfathers BGs fairly.

Please forgive me if I am wrong, I do not speak for Phil_Steak or anyone else. I am just trying to think of this at a perspective from a Godfather. This all has to do with slights, disrespect, and emotions. Not conspiracy or off the cuff decision making. Phil wouldn't have lived this long in the position he's in if he was impulsive.

Report Post Tip

Totally don't agree with the reasoning, Mr. Steak given what was said to your uppers and Squid himself, however I fear if I carry on we will just go around in circles until it just becomes a slanging match, so I will draw a line under the subject on my part.

I feel shit enough.
