Suya stood back watching Maho help Eva get ready, in between glances to check the knives sheathed on his forearms. He wasn't planning on taking a gun with him so he wanted to be doubly sure they would be in his hands should he have need of them. A possibility he thought all too likely considering the position he was putting Eva in. Seeing that Maho had Eva's makeup perfect and was starting on her kimono, he idly pulled his sleeves back down, fastened them in place and snatched up his coat. He approached her as Maho put the finishing touches on the kimono, tying the obi in the front for easier access.

You look fantastic Eva. If I did not know better, I would say you were a real geisha. O'Reilly will not have a clue.

His face fell into a worried frown.

Are you sure you want to go through with this? I can go in alone. I will still get Zoey all the information she needs, it just might be a bit bloodier.
Report Post Tip
Chuckling, Eva rolls her eyes

For the last time, Suya, it will be fine. I can handle myself with guys like O'Reily. I'll barely get my hands dirty. Besides, Zoey gave this job to both of us. She knows I need to be in on it to keep an eye on you.

She winks and Maho steps away from her. Turning to the mirror for the first time since this whole costuming process started, she evaluates herself as a geisha.

Not bad, if I do say so myself. Of course, I can't say I've ever been this lacking in a tan, but its believable.

Turning to Suya, she shrugs her shoulders and raises her eyebrows questioningly

What do you think?
Report Post Tip
I think answering that question may end up ruining all the hard work Maho has done, and we do not have time for such, distractions.

Slipping into his coat he turns to Maho and starts rattling off instructions in Japanese, explaining once again that he will be gone for at least a few days and that he wants the place perfect and ready to open when he gets back. He returns his attention to Eva, wondering for the thousandth time in the last few hours if this is a good idea. The crash course he and Maho gave Eva in being a geisha will surely be enough to fool O'Reilly, but he can't shake his feeling of discomfort. Maybe it's just that he's used to working alone. He guides Eva out with a light touch on her back. When they get down to his car he opens the back door for her and pulls a small baggie from his pocket before she gets in.

Just in case. Slip one into his drink and he should be more then willing to tell you everything you want to know. Careful not to guide him though, or he will only tell you what you want to hear, whether it is true or not. It will also make him drowsy, which should save you some of the sweatier work, but also limit your time to question him.
Report Post Tip
Eva nods and slips the baggie into her a special pocket sewn into the inside of the obi. With one more reassuring smile for Suya, she slips into the back seat for the ride to O'Reilly's restaurant and bar where they were set to meet. The set-up was fairly simple, with Eva as the main bait. Suya and Eva would meet O'Reilly on his own turf, with the purpose of letting O'Reilly know that Suya had no intentions of "butting in" on his prostitution business. After dinner, if all went well, O'Reilly would take Eva for "dessert," at which point she would seduce information out of him. Suya, meanwhile, would start working over O'Reilly's associates for more info. Once everyone was drunk and/or unconscious, Eva and Suya would make a run for it and disappear into the night. For some reason, Eva seemed a little less apprehensive about the whole scheme than Suya did- but that probably had more to do with the fact that Eva knew he could take care of himsself- he wasn't so sure of her. This made her smile a little, but she had to have her head in the game now. The moment the car pulled away from the curb, they would have to be in character. In her mind, she went over the etiquettes that Maho and Suya had gone over with her- don't speak unless spoken to, eyes down, be as silent in movement as possible. Eva knew she had to make O'Reilly think she was almost a mindless subservient- he would be less guarded in his speech then. Her plan was to get a little out of him before drugging him, then go for his files when he was fully out.

Finally, the arrived at the suburbia-Detroit restaurant and lounge where O'Reilly kept his business and audience. With a silent prayer and one more check of her appearance, Eva waited for Suya to open her door
Report Post Tip
Suya once more checked the feel of the knives on his forearms, hoping he wouldn't have to use them and then stepped out onto the sidewalk. He paused at the back door to take a deep breathe before opening it for Eva. He only looks at her enough to be sure she is clear of the door so he can shut it and then takes up his position in front of her and leads her inside in silence. Stepping through the door all eyes swing to the new arrivals. To say that they Japanese man in a suit and the geisha on his heels stand out here like a sore thumb would be a monumental understatement.

The place looked like it was barely holding together and was as likely to come crumbling down as the stench of the place was to make him gag. The people who infested the place were filthy and disgusting, where Suya not so used to their kind, he'd be afraid of catchig something just being so near to them. Half the men look ready to shoot themselves if they could afford a gun, the other half look like they'd like nother more then to get into a fight, and every one of them is drunk to one degree or another. Then there were the women, very likely each one of them were prostitutes in O'Reilly's employ, and most seem to have displeased their clients at one time or another.

Spotting the man they came to see, Suya recognizes him instantly from the picture Zoey showed them, he heads right for him with Eva in tow. The table O'Reilly sits at is ringed by what are obviously his guards, but drunk as they seem to be and each with a girl on his arm, Suya doubts they'd give him much of a challenge if the time came. Suya stops in front of the table and bows deeply to O'Reilly.

Mr. O'Reilly, thank you for seeing me on such short notice. It is a pleasure to meet you sir.

"I'm sure it is, Sato-san."

The name, by it's strange sound off the man's Irish tongue, was likely picked up from a bad movie. Suya ignores the tone that many would take offense to though, knowing why they are here and what they may have to put up with to get what they need. Besides, what he must endure pales next to what Eva has to do. For his part, O'Reilly is already looking past him to Eva.

"And what do we have here?"

Suya steps to the side and ushers Eva forward.

A gift, Mr. O'Reilly. This is Ayaka. It means beautiful flower. I apologize that she is not an authentic Japanese geisha, but you have my assurances that she is well trained in the trade.

Suya knows the translation he gave for the name isn't exact, but he believes it will only add to the allure for O'Reilly.
Report Post Tip
Stepping forward, Eva looks up only briefly at O'Reilly, then bows her head low when Suya introduces her by name. It very nearly makes her physically ill to think of the way he was looking at her, but she set her jaw and reminded herself that they wouldn't have to be here too long.

O'Reilly looked her over like she was a milk cow up for auction. His breathing was hard and smelled like liqour and sweet tobacco. The grin on his face made it obvious that he knew what the "gift" was for. Looking back it Suya, he jerked his head toward his associate.

"Jimmy, show Mr...uh...show our guest to the bar and set him up with a drink."

He gave Eva a crooked, toothy smile and spoke to Suya with both eyes on Eva

I appreciate the thought, Sato-san. She's a beauty- Jap or not. I'd love to stay and talk, but I really should show Ms. Ayaka around the place. Jimmy here will take care of you.

With that, he put a rough hand in the small of Eva's back and started for the stairway in the back of the bar. Eva walked with her eyes down and in a moment, they were gone
Report Post Tip
Suya nodded his understanding as O'Reilly and Eva walked off. So far so good. That thought was not the list bit comforting. Jimmy led him over to the bar and taking a seat, Suya immediately put his back to the same, not as a sign of disrespect, but so it wouldn't seem he was so interested in the answers when he started asking questions. He ignored the look the bartender gave him when he ordered a beer, finding a lack of fondness for a Japanese man in a place like this wasn't at all surprising, and turned his eyes to surveying the other people in the bar, noting door, counting the people and dividing them between ones he was certain worked for O'Reilly, ones who might and ones he was sure didn't.

How is business Jimmy? This place seems to be doing well.

He glanced sideways at the man for a moment when no response came and then went right back to surveying the room, this time making it obvious he's taking particular notice of the prostitutes.

All right Jimmy, if you do not want to indulge me in conversation, how about having one of these fine women entertain me while I wait for your boss to finish giving Ayaka the grand tour.

Jimmy looked at Suya for a minute and then whistled shrilly at a redheaded girl at the other end of the bar. Though she didn't look at all happy about it, she came to see what he wanted almost immediately. Suya had to fight to keep the bile from coming up into his mouth. If this girl was old enough to be in this place then he was the emperor of Japan.

"Julie, take this gentleman upstairs and keep him entertained for awhile."

Nods and forces a smile onto her face, obviously for the stranger, not Jimmy, and takes Suya's hand and leads him to the stairs O'Reilly and Eva had exited by.
Report Post Tip
With a loud, metallic "clink," the sliding lock shut Eva in with O'Reilly. Finally, she was one-on-one with him. The dark, dingy room made Eva's stomach churn, but she didn't let her disgust show on her face. Even the smell of sweat mixed with alcohol wafting from O'Reilly was enough to make her vomit, but she kept a straight face as she kept her eyes downcast and her hands folded in front of her. It was hot in the poorly-ventilated room, but she knew that O'Reilly would have her undressed soon enough. Another unseen cringe. O'Reilly began walking slow circles around her- breathing heavily and smiling a twisted, ugly grin

"Well, yer a pretty one, aren't you? I bet that Jap gets the best out of you once a day or more."

He grabbed a handful of the backside of her kimono and placed his face right next to her ear

"I sure as hell would."

Eva closed her eyes and cleared her throat.

I am certain that a man in your position requires only the finest in entertainment. I shall do my best to satisfy.

O'Reilly scoffed and heaved himself onto the bed, pointing to a cabinet near by.

"Aagh..get me a drink, the I want to see ye dance..."

Eva knew very well what kind of "dance" O'Reilly wanted to see. But, if her judgment was right, two or three more drinks and he'd be as coherent as a two year old. She poured him two large drinks of whiskey in separate glasses. In one, she stealthily poured the contents of the tiny baggie. Finally, she brought them to him, bowed, then stepped back to begin- hoping against hope that she wouldn't have to go too far

----

An hour and a half later, Eva was slipping back into her kimono as O'Reilly lay horizontally across the bed; snoring loudly enough to wake the dead. She pushed the thoughts of the last hour far from her mind and went straight to work (after quite a struggle with the obi). Just as she had suspected, a second door in the bedroom led to a private study. Well, it was more like a large closet with an old desk and a pile of junk on top of it- but that was O'Reilly's style. Eva rolled her eyes at the slobby office keep, but set to work. All she'd gotten from him during the "conjugal visit" was a clue as to a house where most of O'Reilly's "boys" spent their time- she had enough to figure out where it was. Somewhere on the desk, she was able to find his financial ledger. Inside, she lucked out- there were carbon copies of his most recent bank transactions; deposits and withdrawals. With those, she'd be able to find out who he pays, and who pays him. She pawed through the clutter for another hour before she decided to quit while she was ahead. Quickly, she re-arranged the pile as she'd found it, and made for the door. Upon stepping out, her body ran into another- one more sweaty and smelly. O'Reilly stood before her, glaring at her through one opened eye. He mumbled drunkenly

"What are ye doing in there, whore girl!? Get out of there-"

He seized her by the collar of her kimono and pulled her out of the room. Calmly, Eva replied, praying he bought it

I...was only looking for the restroom, sir. I was only in there a moment trying to find-

O'Reilly cut her off and pulled her out the door and toward the stair

"No public restrooms! Now get out!"

Roughly, he escorted her down the stairs and shoved her into the main area of the establishment and stumbled toward the bar. The bar tender shook his head apologetically at Eva and reached for a glass- he'd seen the same thing too many times before. While scanning the room for Suya- who she desperately needed to see- she saw a small man in a suit come in through the door. O'Reilly sneered and yelled at him.

"McIntyre- it's about time you got here, you worthless git! I don't pay ye to be a day late! Those books don't keep themselves! Get up there and do yer job!"

McIntyre...suit...books. That man must be O'Reilly's accountant. Eva made another mental note to look up accountants named McIntyre.
Report Post Tip
Suya stays close to Julie's back as she leads him out of sight of everyone in the bar, not intending to give anyone the impression that he was less then interested in what she had to offer him. The moment they were up the stairs he put his mouth close to her ear.

I want the room closest to your boss. In case he has any problems with my, gift.

She turns her head to face him, by the expression on her face and the twist to her mouth as she begins to speak, he knows that she intends to protest his request. Suya simply tightens his grip on her hand as a means of silencing her. He puts a soft smile on his face.

You want me to be your friend Julie. Do as I ask, and I will be the best friend you have had in a long time.

He realizes that she will probably take that to mean something entirely different then it really does, but keeping her in the belief that want of her body is the only use he has for her is fine for the moment. She nods in agreement with his words but does not appear to be any happier. Regardless, she leads him to the end of the hall and into the room right across from O'Reilly's. With the door closed behind them he releases her hand. She immediately turns and begins unbuttoning her blouse. Suya frowns at her and gently grabs her wrists, shaking his head to tell her that isn't what he wants. He pulls her to him as he backs to the door so he can better hear anything happening outside of the room. He crosses his lips with a finger to tell Julie to be quiet and then begins talking very quietly.

How much do you owe the O'Reilly's?

"What?"

You heard me, how much?

"I'm not gonna tell ya that just so ya can buy me!"

Keep your voice down. You have my word I am not going to buy you. I will free you, if you help me.

"If ya gonna free me, ya have ta free ma sister too."

Fine, fine. Your sister too. How much?

"Fifty grand."

Suya lets out a heavy sigh. How on earth did this little girl, or even her whole family, manage to get that deep in debt to the O'Reilly's? He'd come here quite willing to pay for information, he was always willing when he had to do things quietly, but this was more then he had expected to have to pay in a place like this. Finally he nods. Even smiles as he has a sudden thought, no reason he can't get something out of this deal for himself as well.

All right. You and your sister will be free. You will even have jobs with me waiting and a place to say where no one will think of touching you without your permission for fear of losing their hands. But you have to do exactly as I say.

Julie's face breaks into one of the biggest smiles he's ever seen and she begins to laugh and throws her arms around him in thanks. He gently pushes her away and crosses his lips with a finger again.

First I am going to need you to stay here for a few more days. She frowns but nods. Good. I need to know everything I can about O'Reilly and the people who work for him. Not just the people who owe him money, but the ones who will defend his life if they have to. Again Julie nods, her eyes telling him she's already putting together lists in her head. You and your friends are in the unique position to be able to get me all the information I need. I want you to get as many of them to help you as you can, but only ones you can trust, I cannot afford to pay the way for all of you. Once more a nod.

Good, one more thing. Me and the girl I came in with are going to need a place to stay for a couple days. Somewhere O'Reilly won't find us.

"You can stay with me and ma parents! Pa will be glad to help ya when he hears what ya gonna do for me and Jenny!
Suya smiles reassuringly as he motions for her to calm down. Perfect. That will be perfect. We will wait for you across the street until you finish here. Now, what can you tell me about the people working for O'Reilly?

For the next hour Suya gets everything he can think of that Julie knows about the O'Reillys out of her until he hears yelling coming from across the hall and then loud footsteps heading for the stairs down to the bar. Once he hears the steps hit the stairs, he has Julie lead him back down where he finds Eva by the bar and O'Reilly engrossed in loud conversation with a man who hadn't been there before. He goes immediately to Eva and takes her hand, leading her out of the bar, passing close to O'Reilly on the way. His voice is soft but firm.

I am sorry you did not find Ayaka pleasing sir. But I hope you did not mishandle her too badly. She is my master's favorite. He sent her over here especially for you. He has a special sword especially for men who do not play nicely with Ayaka.

The door is already shutting behind Suya and Eva when O'Reilly finally finds his tongue to call after them.

"Yakuza scum!"
Report Post Tip
As they make their way out to Suya's car, Eva remains silent- but, the minute the doors shut and their tail is turned, she starts spilling everything she learned. She talks a mile a minute as she begins pulling the documents from her obi, and frantically pulling the wig off her head. Although she's talking business, she can't think of anything but getting into a scalding hot shower and scrubbing herself until she gets down to a new layer of skin. Her stomach is still churning, and she is constantly pushing thoughts out of her mind

...and he mentioned some house on the eastern edge of the city where a lot of his underlings spend most of their time- the single guys who have no life outside of their business. A lot of drunk, dangerous people with nothing to live for. Oh, and I got copies of some of his financial records. Tomorrow, I'll go to the bank and trace them- don't ask me how, I have my ways...and his accountant- guy named McIntyre, he'll be easy to grill for information, all I have to do is-
Report Post Tip
Woah! Eva, calm down, please. We are out there and we are not going back.

Suya reaches over and places what he hopes is a reassuring hand on her shoulder. The little flinch she gives in response to his touch does not surprise him at all. Unfortunatly, he'd had the displeasure of seeing women after a mission like this one too many times in the past.

You did good Eva. The safehouse and the accountant are big, hopefully we will get more on both of them, but not tonight. I know you probably want to get cleaned up, but for now we have to wait here a little while longer. I got us some informants on the inside who will keep information coming our way, and I got us a place to stay until we are done here. But we have to wait for my contacts to finish work, then we will go get you a shower and I will call Zoey and tell her how we are progressing.

He turns her face with gentle fingers so that their eyes meet. He looks at her with genuine concern.

Do not lie to me now Eva. Are you all right? He did not hurt you did he?
Report Post Tip
She took in a deep breath and sighed, then shook her head

No- no, he didn't. He was just so...so disgusting. Aside from the drinking and the smell and that awful place...it was just pathetic to see the way he treats women. He is such a slob. I hope Marietta buries that piece of filth under Lake Ontario.

Looking into his soft, sweet eyes, Eva sighed once more and smiled a little

I'm fine, I promise. I guess I'm just a little too prissy for a disgusting rat hole like that.

She folds the obi in her lap and settles back into the car seat.

So what's this place you got for us to stay the night?
Report Post Tip
Suya goes over his conversation with Julie almost word for word with Eva while they wait for the girls to come out of the bar. It is nearly sunrise when Julie and Jenny finally appear out in the street. That gave Suya and Eva lots of time to go over the papers she'd gotten from O'Reilly's office. Most of it was beyond him, but Eva seemed to have a pretty good grasp on it and it would all become even more clear once they got their hands on McIntyre. When he saw the girls, Suya got out of the car and waved them over and into the back seat then had them direct him to their place.

Suya was saddened, but not at all surprised to see that their home was in much the same condition as the bar. The inside too was reminiscent of the bar, though thankfully lacking much of the stench. It certainly wasn't the best accomodations he and Eva could have hoped for, but until the headed home from enemy territory, all they really needed was somewhere that was inside and that O'Reilly wasn't likely to show up. After thanking them again for their help tonight and over the next couple days Suya asks the girls to take Eva to get cleaned up while he makes a phone call. He smiles after Eva as she disappears with the girls then grabs the phone and dials Zoey. While she was happy to hear of the progress that he and Eva were making he could tell that she was not in the best of moods, and finding out why washed the smile from his face.

Do not worry about us Zoey. We have come as close to O'Reilly as we plan to. All contact from this point should be second-hand. We will follow up on what we already have and get what we can on what his little brother is bringing to the party with him so there are no nasty surprises. Talk to youtomorrow.

He replaces the phone in its cradle and rubs his eyes. He had really been hoping there wouldn't be any complications. Things tend to get bloody when they start getting complicated.
Report Post Tip
Two hours later, Eva emerges from the back of the little house. Her long, brown hair is freshly washed and pulled back in a loose, low-hanging ponytail. She has on a pair of white, linen pants, a blue t-shirt, and a gray, hand-knitted shawl across her shoulders. Making her way into the living room, she finds Suya sitting alone on the couch. He has shed his coat and his weapons, and looks a little more relaxed with his sleeves rolled up. He seems to not notice her come in, until she sits down beside him, hands folded in her lap and a soft smile on her face

How was check-in with the boss lady?
Report Post Tip
Suya, sitting cross-legged on the couch, is shaken from his meditation by Eva's appearance on the couch beside him. It wasn't exactly sleep, but the meditation served its own purpose and was relaxing and refreshing in its own way. He straightens his legs and stretches the muscles in his back, neck and shoulders before leaning forward and setting his elbows on his knees.

It could have gone better. She was not too happy about how late I left the call, but hearing about our progress seemed to calm her.

He hesitates, visibly trying to decide on his next words, finally concluding he can't leave her in the dark on what Zoey told him.

The situation appears to have become a bit more complicated while we were at the bar though. It seems O'Reilly's younger brother, the more ambitious brother, according to Zoey, who heads a family in New York, is heading down here in time for the takeover this weekend. It looks like the chances of things going peacefully have about gone out the window.

Suya pushes himself up off the couch and takes a few steps, trying to brighten his expression somewhat before turning back around to face Eva. It's not easy with thoughts of the bloodbath that could be in their future running through his head. Their job just got a lot more important. Marietta, Zoey and Dean need to know exactly what they're walking into before they go to that meeting so they can be prepared.

So, what is our next move? Go pay McIntyre a visit?
Report Post Tip
Not exactly. I just need to know his name. No reason putting him in personal danger. All I need to know is his name- I already know where O'Reilly does his banking.

Looking at a little clock on the wall, Eva continues

The bank opens in about 3 hours. He banks across town, so we can go and not worry about who sees us. But- we have to make a stop first.

Eva went on to explain that she had a friend that worked in the printing business. To access O'Reilly's financial records, she'd have to look like an accountant. They'd go to her friend, who would print her a few business cards- meanwhile, she'd call and find out some simple background on Mr. McIntyre, CPA. Reaching into her pocket, she pulled out a small, folded piece of paper

Your job is going shopping. Those are my measurements. While I'm with Tommy, you have to go pick up a number that will make me look like an accountant. I mean, it's either that, this, or a Geisha outfit.

Winking, she stood and faced Suya, trying to get a smile out of him.

Well, what do you think?
Report Post Tip
He tries not to, but Suya can't help but smile. Throughout his years living on the darker side of life he has spent much of his time working alone from the shadows. Having Eva's companionship and help on this mission has been a very welcome change.

I think that in the course of a day I have gone from white knight to personal shopper. But you have the right idea, as much as I like you made up like a geisha, I do not think that would get us very far in this case. Just let me leave a note for the girls in case we do not get back before they leave for work then we can be on our way.

Suya grabs a pen and a pad of paper from beside the phone and scribbles out a note for Julie and Jenny.

Girls,

Eva and I have some business to take care of. Do not know when we will be back. Remember what I told you. Find out everything you can, but keep questions to a minimum. I do not want you making O'Reilly suspicious or getting yourselves hurt.

Suya

With things taken care of at the house, Suya and Eva pile into the car and head out. After dropping Eva off at her friend's, Suya, Eva's measurements in his pocket, makes his way to the clothing stores to see what he can find for her. Once he finds the right store it doesn't take him long to find what he's looking for, unfortunately, they don't have what he wants in the right sizes for Eva, so he has to seek out a tailor, and then hand over a rather large payoff to make Eva's clothes the tailor's top priority and put a rush on the job. Rather then wait around for the alterations to be finished, Suya decides to put his time to good use.

He finds a payphone and calls Maho, checking in on how preparations for the opening are going. He's not surprised to hear that she has everything in order and that more of the staff have arrived. He only gives half his mind to the conversation though as his thoughts drift back to the previous evening and getting Eva ready for their work at O'Reilly's bar. He'd seen geisha's hundreds of times before, non-Japanese geisha included, but he would easily have to rank Eva as one of the most beautiful he has ever seen. Hanging up the phone with thoughts of Eva as a geisha fresh in his mind Suya stops at the jeweler's before heading back to the tailor, picking up both a little extra touch for her accountant disguise, and a gift he'll give her another time. Depositing Eva's gift in the trunk and everything else on the front passenger seat, he heads back to Eva's friend's to round her up. He knocks on the door with an armful of clothing topped with a jewelery box.

Honey! I am home!
Report Post Tip
Eva can be heard from inside yelling, "I got it!" Footsteps fell on a creaky, wooden floor, then the door opened. Eva grinned mischievously

Office of Nancy Mahoney, CPA. Come in! May I prepare your taxes for you?

She giggles and moves aside for him to come in, eyeing the boxes in his hand

How'd your shopping trip go? Have fun in the ladies department?

She led him through the house and into a large, back room packed with all kinds of printing equipment. It smelled like ink and chemicals, but Eva didn't seem to mind. She led him past shelves with printed, finished projects- boxes of stationary, note cards, business cards, and on the top shelf was a heavy, green locked safe. The owner wasn't anywhere to be found- seemingly
Report Post Tip
Seeing Eva again almost automatically put a big smile on Suya's face. He finds a place to set his burden down and then turns his attention to her, his arms gesture wildly as he makes the recounting of his shopping trip seem as if he had been off on some grand adventure while she'd been kicking back here.

Oh, it was great fun! First I traveled through the Valley of Blouses. It was a desperate fight, but I made it through, and with a prisoner no less. Then I snuck through the Garden of Under-Garden-Ments. It was serene in a way, almost like meditation, yet frightening and enticing in a odd way. Finally I made it to the Valley of Lost Skirts...

He stops, his face becoming perfectly still in a mask of seriousness, but his eyes give away a hint of playfulness.

What? Can I not be a little sarcastic once in awhile? When this mission is over, remind me to pay you back for putting me through that. Talk about being ripped from your comfort zone. He gives an exaggerated shudder. How did things go here? You ready to roll?
Report Post Tip
Eva laughed heartily at Suya's tale of the Adventure In Ladies Land, and wondered to herself if this man could possibly be as perfect as he seemed. His sense of humor was such a bright spot in the dimness of everyday life. After he finished, she took the boxes and winked

Well, I should get dressed first, don't you think? I mean, I know you didn't go to that department store for your health.

She started for the back of the strange house, pausing to kiss Suya on the cheek as she disappeared
