| Can't see what all the fuss is about. Don Zoey's already informed her family that shooting under 48s is not on and it's also an existing family rule. It seems to have been overlooked that Zoey isn't saying that her family will be doing anything different beyond the norm with regard to this rule. Zoey might well be, but fuck, she is a Don and that's her call. Until you are in a position to do anything about it, the best thing is to pipe down. | |

After reading this posting quite carefully I have decided that my family will still abide by the 48 hour rule. I find that there is too much grey area pertaining to who is new and who is abusing the protection given to them by the powers that be. Should someone not be abusing this protection and still be shot it can easily be said that they were abusing it. This leaves too much to chance. It looks to me that people with guns will now take advantage of this more than people with the protection abuse their god given ability for extra time to find a home. I will be sending out memos to all my members to stand by the 48 hour rule or they will be shot. If changing this rule works for everyone elses family then by all means make your changes. After all they are your families to run. This is my own personal choice and how I will run my family. I just dont like the idea of having a mail from someone new to the shore asking for an invite and hes already gone off to start looking for somewhere to find a drink while waiting for me to return and then sending him a new key to the HQ only to find he will never get it as he was gunned down returning from the bar. (OOC logging on to get shot before he can accept his invite) |

*stands to join and not just be an on-looker* It's like this people. Why should a person have to wait 48 hours for anyone new or old? Last I was told this is the mafia. A true mobster could care less if a person was new or old. If you're in a city, lets say Chicago, and members of that city feel you're their making their money and taking up space on their streets than you should have a right to kill that person. I feel if a person is going to enforce a rule they should enforce it in their city or all other cities that they have authority to the CL's in that city. But people can't just sit back and want everything to run their way or no way. Personally, I thnk some of these lazy azz CL's should get up off their azzs and start applying rules to their own cities. Everything does not have to be ran the same for all cities because one person says so, unless again I must say, they have authority in that city. At least that's how true mobsters and families operated. My thing is everyone has different opinion. I feel you should be able to attack anyone at anytime, that's just how the mafia works, but what I'm stressing is that CL's take advantage of their cities and make their own rules for their city. This way, before you get off the boat, you'll pick the right boat for the location that will fit you. If there are rules in Detriot or LA that allow 48 hours before you can kill a unsponsored, than let them come their and free load in your city. (trust me if thi where in affect they would) But than you could have cities that don't tolerate 48 hour rules and everyone is open gain. And the part about who's new and not. Let's be smart here. Most everyone around here can tell the difference between a newbee and the veterans around here. |

I will say this Mobsta_Marley you have balls for coming out here and calling some of the CL's "lazy azz's". In my opinion you may have over stepped your bounds on this one. As you say this is the mafia so maybe you should have a little more respect for the CL's of the seven cities. But alas let me make this clear for you and everyone else. I choose to keep the 48 hour rule for MY family. I make these rules for my members only and they follow my rules. I dont presume to set LA as a safe haven for people under 48 hours or deny people shooting in my city. If the under 48 people have the capacity to come to LA knowing it were a safe haven then they have the capacity to find themselves a home. I would be a hypocrite to tell people to not shoot at other people in LA then have my members shooting at stuff elsewhere. LA is not a safe haven and will never be such a place. It is a place for people to come and visit any time they choose and take care of business whether it be crimes, drugs or even killing. Not that any of us fine upstanding people would partake in such vile practices. I make rules for my family to follow not for the people of this world to follow. Should someone else come out to the streets and propose or state rules then I of course will listen to the speech then make a decision to follow or disregard said proposed plan. It is my choice to make. As for this statement of your: My thing is everyone has different opinion. I feel you should be able to attack anyone at anytime, that's just how the mafia works, but what I'm stressing is that CL's take advantage of their cities and make their own rules for their city. If you feel you should be able to attack anyone at anytime I really cant see that it would be wise to follow that practice, i can guarantee someone that follows that path wouldnt last too long. The CL's rules are for their family and basically their city. They are set to keep not only their members alive but themselves as well. If a CL decides to state that their city is off limits to anyone other than their family members, or any other situation concerning their city I will abide by their choice and so will my members. |

*puff his joint and blows out smoke laughing* In response to Prozac! I didn't name any name when I spoke of CL's. We all know that there are "Lazy Azz CL's" around here. Why do you think CL's are getting killed? Being lazy consist of not being vocal. Not taking charge. I didn't state any names, but those who feel they are "Lazy Azz CL's" we feel threatened by such a statement. Basically I'm saying we gotta start holding higher ranks, as well as, CL's accountable. The way we live here is shaped on how the CL's and higher ranks feel about certain situations. I know everyone doesn't feel the same about every issue. I just want to see the balls of some of you guys. Even if that means it your balls for it. That's the thing! For you to state that, "In my opinion you may have over stepped your bounds on this one." I have the balls to say whatever I want and I have know power at all. I'd like to see the same from the others. (higher ranks and CL's) Other than the same ole slave mentality: "Yes sir boss, I sure will do that boss, anything else you need boss?" If I have to sacrufice my dignity to stay alive, then I'll day everyday my friend. I got major opinion and I'm never scared to state them. No one should! |

Trust me you dont have to state names. The comment in general was disrespectful enough to the CL's as a whole. You should maybe have been atleast a bit more discreet and maybe not added the lazy azz part. There is speaking your opinion and there is speaking your opinion disrespectfully. Three things we hold dear in this life of hours is Respect, Honor and Loyalty. Im not saying have the slave mentality im saying be more tactful. |

| Mafia members and organize crime don't kill civilians in a real life so why they should do it here? (at least i don't think that 1920/30 century they just shoot everyone in the streets) | |

So use the slave mentality to be more tactiful? I don't understand. And about the "Lazy Azz CL's" I stand the same as said before. (but those who feel they are "Lazy Azz CL's" will feel threatened by such a statement.) Basically, what I'm saying is everyone has the same opinion, when it comes to the public seeing what is said. But behind closed doors there's a million different opinion, but yet there's always one right here. With everyone saying the same lines: I agree, Read and understood, you're right on this issue. THe same people saying that are the same one I hear crying bout how things should change. Prozac I'm making no attack at you. I'm happy to see you not being a "Lazy Azz CL". lol I'm just saying people are sacrifacing their true beliefs all because it may turn another person of higher rank off in a certain way. This thing of ours has went from being true mafiso's to being fake in everything we do, just to live another month or so. Never seen it like this before, but then again I'm old school and my bloodline goes back long before some of these mobsters could even read what I'm writing. I just think back to what my greatest or great-grandfathers use to tell me and I can see the difference in the worlds. That's all. Maybe long before you my man, but either way it's my opinion and if I have one I'll say it. |

Dogmeat they did! Anyone that came on their streets and made money without their permission or without giving them (CL) their share. They where killed! Check for yourself. That's like Prozac said one of the three things we hold dear and that's respect in this instance. You respect a crews turf. Ow but I forget it's ok here to do those things Dogmeat. So maybe you should say, "On here they don't kill civilians in this world". And, as far as, civilians are considered. If you're doing petties and your status is rich you're not a civilian. In a CL's eyes you should be a up and coming CL and a threat to their turf. Just my opinion again. |

Muqtada, who had been standing in the back listening intently to the discussion for a long while, decides it's time to act. After whispering a few words in Marley's ear, Muqtada decides he has a strong enough opinion on the matters being discussed to break is characteristic silence and chime in. First things first, as far as the 48 hour "rule" goes, I've never liked it personally. While it stands, I will enforce it fully, of course. My opinion won't always be the way things are done, after all. Nonetheless, I think it's a remnant of a bygone era when a leader wouldn't take it upon themselves to sponsor lowly thugs until they became gangsters, and thus the gangsters were left fully exposed to the wrath of angry hitters while they rushed to don their family's characteristic suit. Since that is no longer the case, I would personally see its elimination as a positive change. But that leads to a potential problem. I don't think a peace meal change with each different leader setting a different policy all on their own is the right way to go. Changing the long standing traditions followed by all the leaders is something that I feel should be discussed amongst all of those in power to make sure that everyone is clear on how the new policy will work. Take for instance, purely for example's sake, what would happen if someone from Zoey's family shoots who they "well established" family line while they're still wearing the (-48) button on their shirt in the city of Los Angeles. Whose will dominates? Zoey's statement that she won't punish people in her family that break the rule, or Prozac's statement upholding the rule? It's Prozac's city to run, and it's Zoey's family to run. For the past months, there have been examples which lead me to believe either of the two claims might be preferred, and ambiguity when death is on the line is never a good thing. I have to assume no one wants the two to have to point guns at each other and work out the details that way; that would be just plain bad for business. Now that people's feelings are being voiced in public, I think this is an ideal time for the leaders to discuss things frankly with each other and come out with an unequivocal joint statement regarding which set of conflicting "rules" will be preferred: the "rules" set by a leader of a family or the "rules" set for a city by the city's acting/official Godfather. Clearly I have no authority to actually enforce such a thing on my own. I offer these words merely as my own humble opinion in an attempt to be helpful, and in no way wish to attempt to tell the leaders of these Families and cities how to do their jobs. Muqtada at this point decides he ought to let others in the crowd voice their opinion, and lights a cigarette while he waits and listens, sure that someone will have a comment regarding his statement. |

Grabs Marley by the arm and has a few words with him. Then makes her way towards the front again. After reading through this, I see some more very good points. Again people bring up the issue of the 48 hour rule, and it being taking advantage of if its not enforced. I can't speak for anyone else, but I am definitely not encouraging people to just go out and shoot. If people are abusing it, they will be punished. My family line has always been there to help new ones, and will continue to do so. I agree that everyone deserves a fair chance at this life. And with any new rule or change, it takes time to see how it will work out. If all goes well, leave it, and if things aren't working how you want, change it. I also agree with the fact that each family/city should have their own set of rules. Every leader should have the right to run their family and city how they see appropriate. People may not share the same opinions on topics, but as long as the issue does not have a major effect on others, it shouldn't be a problem. Muqtada, I think we are on the same page here to an extent. Although some families have rules that may differ from others, there are things that can effect the community. Anything that involves changing the whole community should be talked about and agreed upon between all leaders. Steps back to listen to other opinions. |

Zoey heard Muqtada's question and stepped towards him to answer. Prozac stated he will fully enforce the 48 hour rule within his family, but he has no policy or rule regarding shooting in his city. There would be no conflict if your example happened. |

*after listening to Muqtada and getting punched in the mouth by Hayley the BossLady* *lites joint, takes puff, and comes to his senses* I see things more clearly now. This is why a public gathering that starts on a soapbox does so much for our community. I would like to stop and thank Zoey for that. *looks at Zoey and nods in thanks* Being taken back to the main rules of being a good mafioso by Prozac and remembering those three major rules(loyalty, respect, and honor). *looks toward Prozac and nods in hopes of understandence of eachother on the issue* The low level mobsters, such as myself, can finally gain the knowledge that everyone so often seeks, but just doesn't know how to go about. I agree I did go about gaining more imformation about the subject at hand the wrong way, but we all got a good understanding about the whole topic. Afterall, that's the whole purpose of a soapbox discussion. Gives us low rankers a chance to feel involved with in the community and congragate with the leaders of this thing of ours. Thanks you all! *takes a few steps back into the crowd in hopes of not getting another back-hand from Heyley* *takes one last drag off the roach of his joint and tosses it* *takes a set on the bench and watches waiting until the crowd will die-down* |

Ah now what Muqtada has brought up is something that intrigues me. Now I know for a fact that a recently deceased leader had thoughts to this extent. He pondered over them and didn't get the chance to come out here and speak his thoughts so I shall try to do so now. When a Cl has complete control over a city, it's residents can theoretically be assumed to be under their jurisdiction and no others. A thought that crossed their mind was to abolish the 48 hr rule in their city but only for their members. The person I am talking about did not want to open their city up to each and every prospective hitter that walked our streets. This was a perk that would only be granted to family members. But as Zoey has stated it's up to the leaders to decide whether they are going to let their members shoot at anyone under 48 hrs or if they will just restrict their members to their home city. As it is clear that while there is support against the under 48 ruling, there is also support for it. This could definately create a grey area. While a crew leader lays down rules to their family, how far does their rule extend? Is it nationwide or just in their home turf? |

Im new around here... This is only my second generation in my bloodline.... Even though i may be 'inexperienced' i do sit back and listen until i can form an opinion of my own and imo once this is accomplished you have no choice but to be a man and speak on how you feel. Zoey is my cl, i have the up most respect for her as i respect the action of her accepting me into her family before i reached my 48 hrs and got hit for some kill skill. When i died i had two questions in my head... 1, Why did i die and what can i do next time to avoid this? And 2, Which CL looks like they have a Stable organization that i can grow and contribute to? When i came to my conclusion i decided i would apply to Zoeys crew, Now when i came to this conclusion she was not online. So i did have to wait till she was to even get the invite or declination and then i had to be on to accept. I do not think it would have been fair if i would have died because i wanted to make a well processed decision. Tbch(To be completely honest) I dont see too much harm in someone abusing the 48 hr rule for financial reasons, but i do see it causing problems in honor and respect reasons. The avg player understands that the majority if not all of Cls wish that they would find a home as soon as possible. Not doing so is blatantly disregarding their wishes. In that respect i can understand MY CLs reasoning for her rule and even if i didn't i would follow as that is my job and that is my place. I personally think the only reason for someone to get shot because they were unsponsored is not forgivable because ignorance because as i have said AM a newer player and i figured out quite well by the 'anonymous letters' sent by MR that i needed to join a family or get shot. For people that do agree with my Cl i believe they should make a new 'job' in the crew structure called 'recruiter' and thier job would to spot new signees and interview them and tell them to join a family asap if not theirs, this job would be best executed by rhm/lhm. Or at least have the new player put on thier profile waiting on Cls approval or waiting on Cls respons explaining that they have an application pending. ~Steb |
