Too many Chiefs, not enough Indians? Started by: BulletToothTony on Dec 23, '13 00:08

It's a philosophy class, I swear.... or maybe a speech/debate class?

"Well Philosophy is the study of the fundamental nature of knowledge, reality, and existence... so thank you for letting my words teach you things about knowledge, reality, and existence. Though I'm sure you'll be happy to come along and say that's not what you intended and specify what you really meant when you said this."

Report Post Tip

I am sorry you feel that way, and I stand by my right to explain or not. If you can't understand what I am saying, I guess you will never know. It wasn't that deep, and I saw the response of WherewasI and yourself to be sarcasm. I have as much right to say my opinions as the two of you do.

"I wasn't being sarcastic. I saw flaws in your statement and asked you to correct them by proving you had a point when speaking. Again you have just as much right to say things without a point or logic as I do to criticize that lack of a point or logic."

Report Post Tip
They are my statements, and they are not flawed. They mean what I intended. Opinions cannot be flawed. That would take away the very meaning of the word. You are very sarcastic and demeaning, and if you need an explanation of that, I will do so privately.
Report Post Tip

The only thing that's obvious about the nature of what you said Ziva is that you don't know me at all....and have chosen to hear what you wanted to hear throughout this entire conversation.

I already said I didn't like WWI's methods - what you call challenging, I call bullying. Especially when WWI even used the words "mentally bullying". You can't have it both ways - unless you are challenging a person via mental bullying? Meh...

Now, did you have something else to say, or do you want to say some more things about how we're crying about something?

Report Post Tip

Your statement initially was quite vague. It wasn't actually all that clear what you meant by it, or whether it was particularly relevant in our current climate, or anything like that really.

I think that to ask for further clarification to validate the statement was actually pretty reasonable.

Less than it being a personal attack on you, I think it was more about coaxing something more solid and something a little more meaningful from what you said originally.

But then everything got blown out of proportion and the initial promise of your statements go out the window, as much of everything does in these situations.

I don't think we could actually be further from the topic at hand now if we'd jumped on pogo sticks and hopped to Australia. Which is a shame in itself, because this WAS an interesting topic.

Report Post Tip

"Then tell me what you intended by them. Spell them out for me. What never changes? Your opinions are based on a lack of thought and false premises. That makes them incorrect. I'm not being sarcastic. I'm actually asking you... 'WHAT NEVER CHANGES?' If you weren't stating that one concept never changes, then what was the point of the statement? I want a public answer because I've asked more times than I should've had to."

Report Post Tip

"Just for clarity, I use the term mental bully because I feel anyone foolish enough to use the term bully in a logical debate when describing their opponent is claiming the other is far too intimidating for the match up to be fair. Meaning you never stood a chance against me. It's a term used by those who forfeit before trying. Your loose use of the word puts a smile on my face and that's why I love to dangle the term out there for people to use against me, but for the sake of clarity should someone ACTUALLY bully one of the two of you I'd be one of the first in line to call them a cunt and pick them apart."

Report Post Tip
You and Ziva seem to be the only two who didn't understand. I think you do understand, and you are just trying to get me to verbally attack. You may belittle and demean all you like. It won't change anything I have to say. I told you that I feel you are being sarcastic. Feelings belong to the person having them.
Report Post Tip

No Blaise, you're right - I don't know you at all.

Looking at your counts for speeches and posts, it seems like you say a lot, but none of what you've ever said has ever given me much of a sense of who you are or what you stand for. I can't recall that I've ever seen you grace us with your presence in the coffee shops either. In fact, in all honesty, despite the fact that yourself and your Godfather both originated from the same district as I did, I know remarkably little of either of you.

You don't like his methods, whatever. If you don't like it, go about your business in your own way. If your methods are as superior as you evidently think they are, they'll win out eventually. But you're basically throwing your toys out your pram cause you think he's being mean. This is the mafia. We're here to get shit done, at the end of the day, not all be best friends while we're doing it.

The fact that this is the mafia, not kindergarten, in mind, is there anything else YOU have to add?

Report Post Tip

So you are saying that words cannot be used aggressively towards another person? Or the manner in one's speech can be overbearing to someone else? Both of those traits are that of a bully. So not sure why you are attempting to gas yourself up on that premise.

Blaise shakes her head and says to Swamp Rat

See? I told you he was arrogant.

Report Post Tip

I'm not quite sure what we're supposed to be not understanding. As far as I was aware, this was not an issue of anybody not understanding, this was an issue of wanting some actual clarity to the kind of statement that anybody could pull out of their backside - so yes, I'm pretty sure that if your original statement is what we're supposed to be understanding, we both pretty much got it - but there is little worth in a debate to whimsical thoughts with absolutely no substance added to them.

It won't change anything I have to say. I told you that I feel you are being sarcastic. Feelings belong to the person having them.

"I'm asking you a question about your statement that you made of your own volition. I'm not asking you to do anything you haven't already done to yourself. Feelings over facts... means you've stopped thinking and you are what I'm trying to remove from the streets. Think or expect me to never stop questioning you."

Report Post Tip

So you are saying that words cannot be used aggressively towards another person? Or the manner in one's speech can be overbearing to someone else? Both of those traits are that of a bully. So not sure why you are attempting to gas yourself up on that premise.

"I'm saying that your loose term of the word bully is an admitted fear of my capabilities despite the fact I've only spoken of your words and reasons for saying them. If you find me overbearing, maybe you should check to see if you weren't stumbling to the floor before I ever opened my mouth or point out where I crossed the line from a speaker and debater to a bully. I'll wait for the specifics."

Ziva thinks about things and decides to give WhereWasI a hug.

WhereWasI, I gave you that hug because in my opinion, hugs are lovely. Hugs make people happier. And giving you a hug and spreading a tiny little bit of happiness - because I'm quite sure that deep down, you love being hugged, the love just needs to be coaxed out of you - makes me just a little bit happier.

Ziva passes WhereWasI a wrench, knowing what is sure to come her way.

I even accept that in retaliation for the fact that I, of my own free will, decided to come on over and give you a hug, you are probably going to smack me in the face with that wrench. But it's worth it. I did something that I believe in.

See. It's not so hard to put, well.. a tiny bit of SOMETHING in to what you say, to make it just a little bit more worth reading. Putting a reason behind something isn't going to kill you with exertion.

Report Post Tip

WhereWasI hits Ziva in the face with a wrench.

"That's not even to be used in proving a point! Keep your hugs to yourself!"

Report Post Tip
I don't know what to tell you. It was self explanatory, and there is no reason that I can think of that you wouldn't be able to understand it.
Report Post Tip

I just showed you that my usage of the word "bully" fit the situation perfectly. What you are doing is the equivalent of standing over someone and demanding the person to answer by asking them again and again. Is this how you always have conversations? When I speak with my friends, or business associates, I treat them with respect and allow them to speak as much or as little as they want to speak.

tosses WhereWasI a dictionary

Where does it say in there that people need to feel fearful of bullies in order for one to be considered as such?

Report Post Tip

It's not a matter of not understanding. It's a matter of a statement being next to worthless when it's whimsical and non-specific. Just one tiny little bit of thought, of substance, of linking your point with an example, would've made what you had to say so much more relevant to the debate, rather than it appearing to be just you flitting up and mumbling a stray thought.

Report Post Tip

Hey now Blaise, it's mean to throw things!

He was supposed to catch it...
