Al Capone was more violent than smart, his men were the smart ones that helped him stay out of jail so long. An example that he is not smart: He could have received the greatest Lawyer in Chicago to defend him in the tax evasion case, instead he went with a lawyer that defended low ranking members. Another thing that is not smart: The Valentines Day Massacre. It was definitely not the way to handle his rivals and it gained too much attention.
Al Capone: Violent, yet stupid
Luciano was a very smart guy, and tough. He also had smart Friends to help him with tough situations. He formed the commission, Helped organize many other families, and didnt do anything stupid. He was indeed a very smart and yet Violent man, sneaky and dangerous. He did just ruthlessly kill people in public, he was very organized about his killing. He also helped form a commission in Italy.

I would actually have to say Marcello..
Carlo Gambino: he was a strange type of boss, but he had a massive amount of power and influence, he was also quite intelligent because of his great tatics during the time of the Anastasia killing and his plan to get Genvoese sent to jail so he could take control. He also demanded respect from everyone and was highly feared even when he grew old.
Carlos Marcello: He ruled New Orleans with an Iron hand. no one, not even Vito Genovese, could enter Louisiana without his permission. He had politicians under his control. It has been rumored that he has been involved in many assassination plots but was never proved guilty. He controlled all gambling in Louisiana, basically controlled the whole state. The Kennedy's could not get rid of him, even after they technically kidnapped him and dropped him off in Guatemala (which he came right back on a plane) and quickly went back to work. |
