Thomas was led through the crowd on a throne atop a platform carried by the Rourkes. He waved to the people as he passed. He couldn't help but feel he was about to become distanced from so many of them. So few of them would ever achieve the heights to which he was about to ascend. The throne approached a stage and he stood up and moved next to Jimmy and Marietta. Hello one and all, big and small, I am standing before you today an old man. I've seen a lot in my time here, and have enjoyed every bit of my life thus far. However, when you reach the point in your life where I am at you look for new and exciting adventures. Many of you know me and other Rourkes by reputation, I've fought at some of your sides, I've pickpocketed others, and all the while we've seen business boom and the population grow. Recently I was tapped by one of the Gods who, much like Godfathers past and present, informed me that my time was drawing near to earn the distinction of that rank. Jimmy and I began talking about a joint venture together, and as he said, we reached a mutual arrangement that would allow me to take up a chunk of space in New Orleans as my own. I view this as stepping back from the hustle of every day life that I've endured so far, and am pleased to see Sal Giaquinto steer the city of New Orleans with a steady hand. For the forseeable future it will be Fork Rourke and myself occupying the Godfather HQ of New Orleans. Believe me I tried to bleed Detroit of any other members, but well, for lack of a better term... I got forked. I couldn't even weasel Brian Rourke or Kitty McFarlane away! I know this whole setup is confusing for some of you, but I should be quick to show that this is an example of handling things without annihilating a city for an HQ. I know Sal to be a gentleman, and in no way is this move a slight to him, it is only business. I look forward to seeing the people who replace me in Detroit get their shot. My time there has been unforgettable, and Marietta is one of the most steady leaders I've ever had a chance to see. She has handled more adversity, betrayal, jealousy, and animosity than this place has seen for a long time, yet each time she came out the image of class. It was my privilege to serve under her and the people of Detroit. I will not fully abandon my ties though as I will still work with Marietta in regards to the Detroit Tax, as I can never pass up an opportunity to hit Prozac with a 'Notice of Expiration'. They will always remain in my mind as I hitch Fork over my shoulder and we make this journey to the great unknown. So here we are folks, it should be a good one. |

Congratulations Thomas, I know how hard you've worked to get to where you are, your contribution to the Riot! has been exemplary to say the least, you've always led by example, and although I will mourn your departure from the Riot!, I will always value the time you spent here, and I will look forward to working closely with you and New Orleans in the future. Congratulations, Thomas. Our bloodlines have definitely had their ups and downs, and I can honestly say i'm proud to see you achieve the rank of Godfather. You are an extremely hard worker, and i've enjoyed every moment of working with you in The Riot!. I don't have to tell you good luck, because I know you already have it. You have earned this, and little Forky will be perfect as your RH. The Rourke family has definitely accomplished a lot in this lifetime, and it keeps on getting better. |

By voicing this opinion, I realise I probably run the risk of being killed by those being questioned, but so be it, this absolutely stinks. Are you telling us that a "god" intervened for absolutely no reason at all to inform you that you had enough experience to hold down the position of Godfather? Why on earth would the gods be doing that if they are supposed to be completely impartial and leave the game to its own devices? Beyond personal gain for their own mafia interests, that is. Secondly, since when do people get to set up family in any old city just because they have points for the next rank? Yes, I know the answer will probably be "when they are working for the Godfather (mother) that runs the (in-)game", or "when they have the agreement of Jimmy/Sal". Lets be honest here, this is rotten. To try and dress it up as "oh look, we're not warring to take a city, we're doing the right thing...." is laughable. There is a crossover here that goes beyond the shores of this thing and into the realms of the city hall owners, the gods, or however else you want to refer to it. It is fundamentally wrong and you two, Thomas and Fork, of all people should see this. How can this thing be expected to flourish in such conditions? There's lots of backslapping going on, but again, the over-eagerness on the part of the gods to get involved is very apparent. |

SwingingBo, The admins always inform those who are about to get GF prior to it happening because it is something that requires both the admin - and the user - and in most cases the 2nd crewleader that houses the transfered members all to be online and active at the same time to complete the process. You can try to bend this to suit your theory, but the simple fact remains that this is how it is for all future crewleaders, this is how it was for all past crewleaders. |
