First of all, that's not mocking. That is little more than friendly banter behind which is a veiled observation about the fact you'd made an effort to try and retort in an intelligible fashion. Ironically, your reply wasn't as coherent as was probably intended. You'd know if you were being mocked. You were not. Secondly, there is a massive difference between the issue at hand, which is the correct use of relatively simple words, and what you did, which was to try and fancy up your chat with more syllables than was necessary. It was that I was referring to. There's nothing wrong with simple, but mispronunciation is a separate issue. |

The problem at it's most basic was that people do not use the right words for whatever reason. For this reason some believe they should be shot. I did not "fancy up" anything. I used the vocabulary I possess to prove my point as you are doing. By the way, I did not "try" to respond in an intelligible fashion. I did so. Even if they are rather atrocious in the way they speak people should not be judged by that one factor alone. There are many merits people possess. Hard work. Loyalty. Skills with firearms. An ability to earn for their families. The problem may not even be their fault. They just want to exist and enjoy life, obtain the American dream. For these reasons and many others I feel they should not be killed for the one flaw. Besides which, you could just ignore them. Not listen. Don't interact with those you think are below you intellectually. It really is not that hard. I am only a goomba but we all were at one time. Despite whatever position we hold we were all thugs once. We were all "nobodies." We all were unschooled in the proper ways of speaking. We all eventually learned. Along the way I'm sure many disliked things about all of us. Lucky for you they had enough compassion to not kill you. Now. Explain to me what is not coherent about that? What does not fit? Other than the fact I disagree with you gentlemen of course. |

Regarding your own speech skills, relax. I agree, your latter retort was far more coherent than the one I first referred to. However, as was said, my remark was intended as banter so put it to the side and settle yourself down. I'm sure we don't want to take this off topic. With regard to people being shot, you'll have to take that up with Thomas, it's his prerogative. At no point did I say I agreed with people being shot for it. I made two points. One, I hope if people are being shot that the same policy is applied to CLs. That one is more for my entertainment. Two, that it could be a good cleanser if it does happen, due to the fact there are many idiots kicking around. Just like there are those with valid reasons for pronunciation issues, as you say. |

Well, I have to say that I definitely lose sleep over the idiots that run loose around here sometimes. They're really driving me crazy with their antics over there. You're so write Thomas; your comments are appropriate, and hopefully people will learn something here today. As for rogue vs. rouge. I think those that have been running around here lately who believe themselves to be rogue, are actually more closely related to rouge - yes, that substance ForkRourke applies to his bruises after he "runs into doors." |

| Bahahahahaha! I made a funny. I said write instead of right. And this second comment...this was so some of you understand that right would have been correct there, whereas write, well that just sounds right. :) Go on about your day now. | |

As Doc stated, Lobo, it really is not as intelligible as you might believe. Your speech is far from being as troublesome as the average idiot running the streets, but do not go thinking yourself to be a wordsmith just yet. I do not mean this as an insult, but rather encouragement to continually improve your skills. Since you requested that Doc point out your flaws, I will do so to validate my point. We need not go into your last comment more than four words: "The problem at it's most basic" I think what you meant to say was "The problem at its most basic". It's = It is Its = Possession/belonging to Second sentence: "For this reason some believe they should be shot." Throws you a comma For this reason, some believe they should be shot. Ah, that's better. There are several more errors, but I won't go any further. Demonstrating the errors in your first two sentences should be enough to show that you are not yet ready to rival the great bard. My point here is not to embarrass you, but merely to fulfill your request that your errors be pointed out. Ask, and you will receive. I do not know of anyone here who is flawless in speech, myself included. There was a time not long ago when I considered myself to be the cat's ass in the art of linguistics. Then I went on to further my studies and realized that there was plenty of room for improvement, and there still is. So...if you think you have the language by the tail, take heed. There is much more to learn and there are people out there who could pick apart your sentences wherever they may find them. Some other common mistakes that I see even the brightest among us make: Who's = Who is "Who's on first base?" Whose = Possession "Whose hamster is that?" It's = It is Its = Possession On a side note, I completely support the extermination of anyone who makes a grammar mistake. And everyone else, too. |

*puffing his daily reefa, during his hourly time frame, on his every minute basis* It's like this. If the dum dums are open gain for everyone, I'm in. On the other hand, who will be the judge of what is right and wrong? In a way, I agree with most of the people who disagree with this idea. If we actually look at the situation, the location differences are the main factor in misunderstanding one another. Like someone else said, we must take in mind that everyone doesn't talk the same due to the environment they come from. Now on the other hand, if this was class or a project, I would totally understand. Lots of time I choose to talk the way I talk because of my background and environment I was raised in. Which most of you would call the hood or the slums. Yet at the same time I have 1 degree and working on another, but no one would know that without asking. Mainly what I'm saying is that you have to get to know someone to get a full understanding of them. Find out if it's just their culture you here coming out of them or plan ignorance. Just a thought! P.S. I'd love to kill to them as well if that becomes a option though! |

You're all a bunch of Scholars! Bravissimo! Waits for the rebuttal from one of these Fine Upstanding English Grammar Scholar's!! |

Should you ever find yourself in a position similar to that of High_SocWinter_Hill, just remember that apostrophes are only needed when using a possessive, not to pluralize a singular noun. I understand it's a difficult flaw to notice during speech, but I'm an expert on mouth movement. |

*KA thinks to himself, "Rourkey a expert on mouth movement"* Doesn't should good right off. Then again, maybe this is why he only speaks to Consig and above. *KA feels intimidated because Rourkey wasn't speaking to him directly, but to all the Consig's who read this* *sets up a tent outside of Rourkey's house until he turns Consig* |

I think High_Soc woke up on the wrong side of his coffin this morning. Makes a face and grins. Those of us who have degrees, those of us who did not plan on making This Thing of Ours the biggest priority, what are we supposed to do? Are we supposed to dumb ourselves down? Lower down to the level of those we do business with? I graduated from the University of Chicago. I am proud of that. I will not hide that just so I do not intimidate other men and women I associate with. I'm not Ivy League, Heavens no, but I'm not going to turn my back on my education just to appease the members of the Underworld that did not have formal schooling. That's not how I run my business, never will be. I would rather be one of the people out here bandying about my degree in an attempt to drag a few people up to our level, rather than criticize a... Godfather and his associates, as it seems you are doing? To be honest it is the people that apply themselves, the ones that have the degrees in the Underworld, that I have seen become some of the most successful. Raises an eyebrow at High_Society. |

| I'm with you, High_Soc. I have a guy who runs numbers for me. Now he's fresh off the boat from the old country. He can't speak the language very well. But he's quick and dependable and he always comes through with the cash. Am I supposed to turn my back on him because his English isn't perfect? Am I supposed to shoot him for it? The man is good for my business and that's what I'm concerned with. Business. Not grammar. Not spelling. Just my business. | |

To be honest Godfather Thomas can shoot people if their favorite color is blue if he wants. That's an honor he's earned. Kind of like how I randomly pick people off during my time of the month for no reason. I may be adding some of you to that list. Just a heads up. |

Well personally I never went to school. My family was too poor to send me as my father was a drunkard and my mom ran tricks for spare cash just to feed us children. I was brought up on the streets and learned what I could from the people around me. It was only when my father was killed by loan sharks that I realized I could be doing so much better for myself. So I was approached one day and slowly brought into a family of great Italian men who took the time to help me understand and learn the ways of our world. Now at the time I had the most atrocious language you would ever hear. Even mixing up my words and such. To be honest only as I advanced through the ranks of my family, did I begin to care about how I spoke or how I pronounced words. It was because of the honor of my ranks that I chose to better my vocabulary. Not everyone can be great speakers. Not everyone will be of the best of spellers. What can we expect living in a world where people step off the boat from different countries everyday. I may not be a great speaker but I believe no matter how I say the word or how I spell it, if the person understands it then why make a fuss? As I said I have no degrees no nothing. All I got is my streets smarts. |

The problem these days is people think that very thing. They they can do whateeever they want, and should anyone say otherwise Boom! Head shot! But let someone misuse the word their in they're sentence and by god there done for!! So some of us graduated some of us didn't, some of us care some of us don't. If you put your heart in to it, should it really make a difference it you used the wrong homonym and noticed it as you red the book and had to re-reed the read book a second time?? Why Does it Matter!! So, back to my previous statement...
Ohhh and btw... i think i misspelled whateeever ... Wanders off to reed some more |

It matters because you represent your organization and your city. All I've learned from your previous statement is that "High Society and New Orleans don't give a shit about the education of our youngsters". Good to know. |

| Perhaps that's the dividing line between a good businessman and a bad one. I take the time to teach the youngsters in my city the ropes so that they can continue to work for me for years to come. You apparently don't, but I guess that's neither here nor there considering how small your family is in comparison to mine. | |
