Detroit is Crazy Week Started by: Marietta on Apr 23, '09 15:53
This is so crazy i literally don't even know whats going on any more. Good job to the heads of Detroit for coming up with all this.

A visibly tired Marietta steps back up to her Rourkey podium, re-creates her makeshift megaphone and inserts it to her face. With a small sigh she quickly puts on a smile and begins her enthusiastic yelling once more.

"Whew! What a week, ladies and gentlemen! So far Detroit is Crazy week is just as craaaaazay as we hoped it would be! But it's not over yet! HELL NO!"

"Just a quick reminder to everyone that there are only a little over three days left for participation in the contests, namely the Situational Stories, Poems, Petty and Family Memoir contests. We've had over seventy-five entries so far, but I know we can have a WHOLE LOT more!"

"So get involved, get those entries in! The deadline is 00:00 May 1st, so make sure you beat that clock!"

"And my last reminder that on May 1st, between the hours of 15:00 and 20:00, the Motor City Jail Birds competition will make it's encore performance. Be there or be a total loser! Come on down for jail breaks and millions of dollars in prizes!"

Showing a smile towards the crowd once more, Marietta waves towards the small group of people.

"Thank you for your time!"

Walking into the blood stained streets Marietta shakes her head sadly from side to side. So much loss. So much destruction. Pulling her thoughts from the tragic subject she smacked Rourkey on the nose with her stack of fliers, signaling for the man to recreate her podium once more. The blonde woman climbs onto his back, once more with her fake voice magnifier and a pained look upon her face. A small crowd gathers to hear her speak.

"Ladies and Gentlemen. Within the last thirty-odd hours we have seen some tragic loss to the respective Seven (possibly Eight but no one has heard from fecking St. Louis in quite some time) cities. Within time we will move on, I am sure. For now, though, I would like to take the time to announce Detroit's way to give back to the people who have lost so much over this past war."

"If your Father or Mother sent in an entry to one of the Detroit is Crazy Week Contests, please drop me a line and inform me you are their next of kin. All entries sent in will still be judged, and if your Ma or Pa becomes a winner, you will profit from their winnings. In rough times such as these, I am sure it could be quite beneficial to many of you to win some extra cash to start over with."

"If you do no inform me, however, your Mother and Father's entries (should they win) will be null and void. Please take the time to let me know. Like I said, it can only work to your advantage."

"Also, this Friday we will be performing the closing ceremonies of the Motor City Jail Bird contest. Four winners will walk away with one million dollars each, and everyone will be welcome to come practice their jail-bar filing skills. Things kick off at 15:00, so we hope to see you there!"

"Thank you for your time!"

Marietta nods her head towards the crowd, hops off of Rourkey's back, and travels back up the Streets passing out more fliers, trying not to think of her fallen associates.

Marietta steps onto the Streets once more. She was starting to consider living on the nearby park bench, with how often she had been walking up and down Russet Lane this past week. Anyway, back to the task at hand. Rourkey was suspiciously absent, as were several crates of moonshine back at the ol' HQ, so Miss Rossi had to do without her fake golden podium this evening. Stepping up onto a well placed cement block on the sidewalk, she gestured towards the tired and gathering crowd, made up of Mafiosi that were also mysteriously out and about at midnight.

"Fellow countrymen," Marietta started, inclining her head towards a gaggle of women in the front row. "...Countrywomen. I am here to inform you all that as of now it is officially 00:00, May 1st. That means that all of the contests- Situational Stories, Poems, Petties, Family Memoirs and Godfather Crew Names- all of them are officially closed. Any entries received after this time will be discarded."

"The judging will take place over the next two days (or perhaps sooner depending on cooperation!). Results of the contests will be announced on Sunday, May 3rd, and all prizes, cash and crackdowns will be distributed then as well."

"And I know I sound like a broken record, but please join us in Detroit from 15:00 to 20:00 tomorrow evening, for tons of jail fun and four million dollars in raffle prizes. Can't wait to see you there!"

Ambles off once more, in search of a warm bed. Mmm. Bed.

Marietta wanders into the Streets once more. Her excitement is mounting; this is it. The final day of Detroit is Crazy week. Giving a smile towards the gathering crowd she waves her hands over her head briefly before rolling up her stack of fliers into a mouthpiece.

"Ladies and gentlemen- AND WE'RE OFF! It's 15:00 and that means Motor City Jail Birds, the closing ceremonies, have just begun! Cash has changed hands, the fuzz has been bribed, and I hope you will all be in Detroit for hours and hours worth of jail rotting fun!"

"Check with my secretary often for updated drug prices in the city of Detroit. Jails will run every ten to fifteen minutes roughly, depending on the wants and needs of all participants. Please remember to use Detroit's jail etiquette, or I'll be a sad little old woman."

"Remember, I will be giving four lucky people one million dollars each this afternoon. You must be active and criming in Detroit city limits for half an hour before each drawing commences. The first drawing will be at 16:00, the next at 17:00, the third at 18:00, and the fourth and final drawing will be at 19:00! If you want cash, YOU SHOULD BE THERE!"

"Start your engines men and women, because we're about to kick off!"
Report Post Tip
"Erm, I obviously meant my secretary. My apologies!"

Marietta runs into the gathered crowd with a briefcase over her head. Smiling towards the men and women near by she jumps from foot to footand grins at the crowd before calling out:

"Who wants some MOONNNEEEEYYY?!"

The crowd goes wild. Well, there were a few cheers here and there but Marietta liked to exaggerate things from time to time, so inside her head it sounded like a loud brass band playing a fan fare.

"In my hands I hold a briefcase. In that briefcase is the hopes and dreams of many of you. It is 16:00, so I think you all know that means it's time for our first one million dollar raffle! Aurora, will you do the honors please!"

Marietta turns towards Aurora, who is slapping the hands of Rourkey as he attempts to stuff the ballot... well, ballot hat as there really wasn't a box near by. Once she had successfully fought off Rourkey she drew one name from the hat and handed it over towards the Godmother, who nodded her approval.

"Remember, folks, that the people's names that are in this hat were in Detroit, actively criming for half an hour before these names were drawn. We want to see active people around to win! Enough boring you though. A name has been selected and..."

"The first winner of the one million dollar briefcase bonanza is... -BobMarley! Congratulations to you! Here is your briefcase!"

Marietta hands off the briefcase and turns to the rest of the disappointed crowd.

"Don't give me that look! Keep active! There are three more drawings in the works! See you in an hour, folks!"

Rourkey clears his throat and speaks to the crowd.

My apologies everyone, but GodMother Marietta made a small mistake in her announcement. The actual winner is RourkeyRourke!

Come on down and accept your prize!
Report Post Tip
After hearing his name called by Mr. Rourke, Rourkey eagerly scampered to Marietta to receive his prize.

Carrying the burden that is another briefcase filled with one million dollars, Marietta runs onto the Streets swinging it happily at her side. She stops short when she reaches the expectant crowd and throws her free hand into the air... waving it about like she just don't care.

"Are we ready for some more money?!"

Once more the crowd gives it's murmur of approval and Marietta nods happily. Turning to Aurora and Rourkey, still bickering over who gets to pick the next name, she clears her throat and lowers her hand, stretching it towards the pair.

"And the next name for the 17:00 one million dollar raffle drawing is....?"

Aurora punches Rourkey in the gut and he doubles over in pain. With a smile she hands a scrap of paper to Marietta who smiles back in return.

"It seems a name has been selected! So our second winner for the day, and recipient of one million dollars is... Adrian! Everyone give a large round of applause for our second winner!"

People catcall and some jeer. Yet a winner has been selected. Oh hell yes. Marietta passes over the briefcase and turns back towards the gathered Mafiosi.

"We have TWO more drawings left people, so make sure you are around and active in Detroit! Thanks!"
Report Post Tip
Yeah! Detroit IS crazy week! I am very happy to have won this raffle!

Marietta kicks Rourkey in the shins, causing him to fall to all fours. Smiling to herself, Marietta steps on top of his back, using him once more as a podium. She lifts a third briefcase for the afternoon above her head, and smiles out at the gathered men and women.

"I hope you are all having a wonderful time with the Motor City Jail Birds! It's now 18:00, and I think many of you know what that means! The time has come for our third random raffle million dollar drawing nah nah nah nah!"

A smattering of applause breaks out across the men and women. Marietta looks towards her lovely assistant Aurora for the third time that afternoon. "M'day," she says, by way of addressing her.

Without further ado Aurora pulls out a third name from the official raffle hat name drawer receptacle. Handing it over to Marietta they exchange a quick grin before Marietta, balancing herself on Rourkey's back, turns back towards the crowd.

"Alright everyone, we have our third name. Are you READY to hear the third winner?! ARE YOU?!"

People sort of unenthusiastically woop. Marietta ignores them.

"Our third winner for the afternoon is quintus_seritorius! Everyone send your congratulations! Remember, we have only ONE last drawing at 19:00, so make sure you're around and active to win! Thank you!"
Report Post Tip
Rourkey shifts position while on the ground. Marietta's sharp heels dig into his back, but he's fairly pleased that he can see up her skirt.
Report Post Tip
The suspense is killing me, Rourkey. What are we talking about here? An afro or a mohawk?
Report Post Tip
Pickles uses a sharp stick to poke the makeshift podium and looks a little concerned as it wobbles. She then places an oversized apothecary jar crammed full of rainbow coloured sweets at Godmother Marietta's feet. When the bearded podium reaches out to touch the lid she stabs his hand with the sharpened stick. She then wanders off to try to break more people out of jail, regardless of the fact she has broken more nails than prisoners.
Report Post Tip
"Everyone, it is 19:00! That means it is time for the fourth and final one million dollar drawing!" Marietta yells at the top of her lungs.

People gather around excitedly to hear the news, pressing in on each other like nobody's business. Seriously, it's none of yours. Wordlessly Aurora hands Marietta the final name, tipping over the hat and allowing the last scraps of paper to be carried away by a well timed whisper of wind. The crowd fell silent. Marietta waited deliberately as she read the name to drive the men and women wild. At last she opened her mouth, pointing towards the briefcase that Rourkey held.

"Ladies and gentlemen. The last, final, no one else coming after this one winner of the Motor City Jail Birds million dollar raffle is..."

"Dante_Romano!! Well done!"

"We only have one last hour until Detroit is Crazy Week is officially over. Come on over to Detroit for jails and a grand old time. Thank you all for participating in the free drawings!"
Report Post Tip
Ah,THANKS! Godmother Marietta and all those of the Crazy team!
Report Post Tip
Marietta walks into the Streets for the final time. With a sad look upon her face she addressed the gathered crowd.

"That's it everyone, it's over! The Motor City Jail Birds encore marks the finale of our Detroit is Crazy Week. I want to take this time to thank all those who participated, all of those in Detroit who helped come up with contests, all of those who donated money towards the winnings pot, those who donated towards the jail proceedings, and a special thanks to Aurora, RourkeyRourke and ThomasRourke for helping to keep things coordinated."

"Results of the other five contests will be tabulated by Sunday. Please be patient and we will do our best to judge things quickly, but accurately and fairly as well."

"Once more a great thank you to everyone. While it is now time to say goodbye to all the fun we have had, there will be more Detroit is Crazy Weeks to come in the future. We have many more contests and will hopefully have much, much more cash to give out. We here in Detroit only hope that you will look forward to these weeks as much as we here do."

"Thank you!"
