| And Here Goes My Two Cents. | Started by: SorroritySister on Sep 01, '09 20:16 |

Sorrority comes into the streets, suprisingly without some free things to give away, and decides to actually make a speech this time. She has been hearing alot about this "Member Whoring" around town, and she thought, why not put in my 2 cents. So she decided to. Hello Everyone. I would like to put in my "2 cents" about this "Member Whoring" that had been the new talk of town. I think that there is nothing wrong with member whoring. I'm actually a product of member whoring, and so have my ancestors. I come to you guys today to say "Why Not?". Why not "Member Whore". When most people come into this life of ours, they do not know anything to expect. If someone offers to let you join their family, why not do it?!?! What's the big deal? The person then becomes responsible for you, and that's the persons problem who offered a home. I don't think it's anyone elses issue besides the person who is in charge of that family. I mean, that is their crew member. I don't think it should be looked down upon either, most people would not know what to do if they didn't have someone request them to be in their family. And if it turns out that that person ends up not being a good contribute to the family, or slips into a coma, then they get killed, not a big deal. Many people die everyday. Why down talk the leader of the crew for trying to build up their crew, which results in making more money. Now I know we all are about our money. So basically to sum this up, I personally dont think there is anything wrong with "Member Whoring" as you guys call it, what does everyone else think? Sorrority then stands back and waits to hear what everyone has to say. |

Many people would see this as a way to make money and is frowned upon. Now personally, I agree with you, so long as the member who has been "whored" is enlightened on the do's and don'ts. As long as they are being properly looked after then I see no problem with extending them an invite. Another thing to look for is perhaps.. when you extend them an invite. Try to get them to come out of their shell and open them up to conversation. Push for them to make a name for themselves, firstly within the family by talking to different members and building up to a full blown street presence. I hope I have made sense.. if not then blame the clock, its late, i'm rambling.. Regards Mickey |

Van steps out into the street and speaks up Member whoring is just completely wrong. I honestly believe if you are member whoring you should be stripped of whatever position you hold in your family and if you continue on to member whore then you should be sleeping with the fishes. If you do member whore your only making yourself look back as well as your family. Member whoring will only cause a problem unless you get that one person that will follow orders. Yes, member whoring can have its advantages but has more down falls than anything else. If you wish to member whore and your crew leader allows this type of action then continue on because I don't have the right to tell you nor your crew leader how to run his/her own family. Please remember this is my own personal opinion on the subjects. Van steps back into the crowd and listen to other people |

After hearing Van speak she thought of a question Honey, we all have our opinions, and this is an open conversation/debate, so you don't have to hold back on your words or thoughts. But my question to you is What are all of the "Down Falls" of "Member Whoring"? I guess that might be where i'm confused at, because I don't naturally see what the "down falls are", Would you care to explain? |

Van steps back out Miss SorroritySister, I hold a position of LHM in my crew leaders family and I must present myself respectable no matter if its a debate on in the streets or talking to members of other families. I will be gladly to explain these down falls of member whoring. Down Falls of Member Whoring ------------------------------------ -Potential Rouges -Waste of space for people that deserve a spot in the family -No activity in the streets, HQ, business district, etc. -Ignorance towards leaders and others -Leaking info to other families I mean truly this list could go on but I will leave it at five for now |

But my question is, why would people automatically expect for someone to be like that and do those things? That's basically sterio-typing all new members to be like that. I mean the chances are just as high that a person who presents them selfs as respectable and loyal, and will uphold honesty and integrity would turn around and do the same thing. I personally would expect those things from people who speak more. That would raise a red flag to me, like wait, they might be here just to get information and leak to other families. |

SorroritySister, you don't even know the person you sent out the invite to. Why should I just randomly send out invites to people that I don't know and that could possibly be a threat to my boss's family? That is just dumb and I'm not trying to insult your intelligence here but come on now. Sending out invites to random people is just a big red flag. Also, I wasn't being a stereotype towards new members. Ask yourself this then How do you know if they are new? How do you know they won't cause a problem? You can't answer these questions unless you assume things just because someone hasn't sent out messages don't mean that they are new. We have places for new arriving people to go and read on how to do things on these shores. Lets take me for example - I'm a older member that has many ancestors that have lived on these shores. I don't even message a crew leader until I look at every last one of them. After doing that I will judge on who might be the best choice for me. Then I send a nice little invite request to join his/her family. Member whoring is just asking for problems plain and simple. |

Vaniz one is walking down the streets when he notices Toni moving his head in dissapointment. He chuckles as he makes his way into the small group gathered around his sister. In my opinion, every Crew Leader must take his time to get to know the people he's recruiting. But that's just my thoughts Vaniz smiles as he dissapears |

Van....listen. Anyone can say anything to you or sweet talk you to make themselves appear as someone that they are not. Just because you have a conversation with a person does not mean that person isn't going to be a "Red Flag" or a possible threat. A leader goes out on a limb when inviting someone, you get some true dedicated members, and sometimes you don't. It's a gamble. Point, blank, period. But you cannot honestly sit there and say that just becuase you have a conversation with a person, that means that they are loyal. So when you asked me the question to think to myself (Which I did) on how do you know if they are new, most people who are new do not know what the hell is going on. They do not know where the Tutorial is on how to be a Mafia, how do they get to learn this??? By having someone there to guide them. They do not know what "HQ Status: Open" means, they just don't know! When your new here, it's like having a baby....you have to teach the baby how to go about things....how would they learn these things if someone wasn't there to invite them to a family, show them the ropes, and have a place to call home? They won't! It's as simple as that, they don't know....When I was new I did not know where everything was, someone had to show me and tell me...SO just because a leader of a family was nice enough to show me the ropes and invite me to his family, he "Member Whores" and is looked down upon? No, that's just not right. If we want our world to grow, we need more "Member Whoring", as you guys refer to it.... |

SorroritySister, You must honestly not know what member whoring is because what you just said isn't member whoring at all. Member whoring is when a Crew Leader,RHM,or LHM sends out multiple invites to people without even talking to person. SorroritySister, your talking about recruiting new people...When a Crew Leader,RHM,or LHM sends a message showing them the basics I think you got the two confused or you didn't understand the meaning |

No hun....it's basically the same thing. I doubt a leader would go out of his/her way to help out a Civilian if their intentions weren't to eventually have them in their crew. It just wouldn't happen. People are to busy, to help a person who would not potentially be a contribution to them... So, I do understand the meaning. |

Wrong There is big difference between whoring and helping Member Whoring - When a CL,RHM,or LHM sends random invite to people they don't know at all (not even giving them guidance) Recruiting - When a CL,RHM,or LHM sends a message a civilian giving them guidance in this world then later on letting them join if they wish to do so Please understand the difference and I done with debate Van walks off and gets his limo going to the nearest airport |

I guess in the long run, "Member recruiting" is not the issue. Again, before we receive our buttons we are just all pieces of meat ready to be replaced, why wouldn't you rotate a few thugs in and out and just collect their money before you "relieve" them of their duty. |

Ultimately all that matters is that the crewleader is capable of instilling values in the young mafiosi that they wouldn't learn out in the streets on their own. The manner in which they are brought into these families can be argued about all you want. The importance lies in their progression, not in the manner in which it begins. A man can write a beautiful letter to a crewleader and earn himself a place in a family or a man can be approached to join that family, but both of these men are still standing in square one and where they end up is the only thing you should all be worrying about. |
