The actual originality of this is neither the Mayan calender nor Nostradamus. 

It is an Egyption calculation (which is correct) as to when all the planets in the solar system shall be in complete alignment.

The date is the 21st December 2012.

In theory nobody knows what will happen, however the mysticism comes from the fact that this does not happen regularly, the last time it did the dinosaurs were alive and potentially could imbalance the whole solar system throwing smaller planets like ours out of alignment. try it with magnets!

It is also a big debate linking too the Illuminati if you watched the Lara Croft Movies! - Load of crap in that context!

But it could happen - just live your life as you want too - we cant change it if it does!!

Laugh if you want people, but I happen to take all of this very seriously.  I will have you know I was holed up in my basement during the Y2K scare with my family, several gallons of water and a large amount of canned chili.

...I fully expect to be in the exact same place come 2012.  It'll be like a family reunion, almost.

I, for one, am of the belief that if there is really going to be a catastrophic destruction of the planet (which there isn't but hypothetically I'll play along) I would rather be drinking champagne or having sex. I mean, if we're at the end of the line I at least want to enjoy my last few moments!
