The problem is that we are beginning to creep nearer to a stage in progression where significant consequences might occur in the near future, and that progression has been accelerated in the last 100 years by the introduction of human-generated greenhouse gases and industry. If we do not change our practices, within fifty years we will suffer significant consequences. If we do not act quick, the progress could be irreversible. This is not some scientific hypothesis anymore. It is now accepted fact among the scientific community and even among former critics who are educated in geology.

You say our people are idiots, but if you ask me, the real idiots are those who dismiss scientific phenomena that is validated by a virtual consensus of scientists in the field. At this point, you might as well cling to the assertion that the Earth is flat, too.

Just a small note.

The idea of the end of the world in 2012 is largely based on the Mayan calender, and there has been an interesting discovery quite recently that uncovered a mistake in how the calender was read, it wasn't an end, it is a cycle, so basicly it is saying that big things might happen, but it isnt the end, it is more like a "restart". Thus, maybe we humans wil finally be aware of how to live on earth instead of acting like a virus that just feeds on earth and gobble up the natural resources.

And another point, there are more important things we have to focus on, like how to manage with all these people on such a tiny planet, hehe.
