| GAME CHANGE: MIA limits, Random NPC Crews | Started by: Squishy on Jan 08, '10 13:37 |
|
Our original limits for MIAs (Made Inactives - "Take on a contract" victims) was 15 per 30 day period, to be killed at any interval. Our new limit has been increased to 2 in any 2 day period. This means that, if you time it right, you can get 30 per month at the rate of 1 per day. The limit of 2 in any 2 day period allows you to not log in on a tuesday, then log in on a wednesday and still get tuesdays and wednesdays kill. You can not compound the kills any longer than one day because of the 2 in 2 day limit. To add a little spice into the mix - after X number of MIA's are purchased, it will trigger a site wide event. An NPC crew will be made, complete with high ranking CL/RHM/LHM and random ranks for the crew members - some having random pro times. These are freebie kills for anyone and do not take away from your MIA limit. These crews will be marked as an NPC crew so that they can be identified. Enjoy! |

This is an awesome addition, and I look forward to the first crew spawning. Should be an entertaining little while. |

I doubt I will be the only one to say this, but I do not like the NPC idea at all. This game has always been about player interaction. Adding any type of NPC is potentially taking away from said interaction. We have always shot random hobos that live on these streets and the MIAs pushed the boundaries of player interaction. However, they did not push it too far. This "Random NPC Crew" idea, I feel will. |

The NPC crew will probably happen about ounce every other week or so, and for the most part be killed off within an hour. I do not think it will happen enough that it would alter the game in any way other than a little bit of fun every now and then if you happen to be online during the time it happens. |

The max kills someone can get on a NPC Crew with 25 members, with the given amount of decent guns in the game, you might... MIGHT get 2 kills out of it. No more than you could any other day of MIA hunting. 2 kills every 2 weeks is not a huge boost to any kill record. |

I like this! 2 MIA spawns every two days sounds like a good improvement on 15 per month - and means you won't have periods of waiting a while until you can get another one. I like the NPC thing as well - it's not very often you get to take a shot at someone ranked higher than gangster without having to worry about major reprocussions so major thanks to squishy and anyone else involved in implementing this! (was it accidental you posted this at 13:37?) :D |

Super fun addition in my opinion Squishy! Bloedsuier I see your point but don't feel it is detracting all that much from r/p as compared to other non r/p features - VDay comes to mind, our profile pics - many little things like that are not era specific, technically the whole i/a system is not particularly r/p oriented. In the real world, I highly doubt Mafia members went around racing each other to try to kill a couple of bums a day. So, I'd prefer to just look at it like a fun addition and distraction from the every day playing. |

I can understand the appeal of having 2 MIAs per day, but I feel the 15 per month has already greatly simplified shooting a great deal. The 2 MIA's per day will just make it that much easier. Personally I think those interested in shooting should learn the skill. I can understand wanting to make shooting a little easier, as I know it can be frustrating to those who have not mastered it yet, but I think it will take something away from the game by making it too simple. |

This sort of thing was a great feature on another site I used to visit before it closed down, so I anticipate loads of fun from this one as well! Great addition! |

To be honest I never liked the idea of MIAs but I understood your reasoning for making them so thought it was fair for some people who found it difficult to hunt IAs to get a little easy action and sorta have an idea about killing. But increasing the amount of MIAs I do not think is necessary. I always thought MIAs were to help those who weren't the best at hunting and also to help with the lack of proper IAs. But increasing the amount of MIA kills someone is allowed I think helps those already great at hunting IAs and even greater at stealing other peoples MIAs. They will get more kills while those still unable to get kills will just continually rely on the MIAs to try and get kills and not work on the skill involved in IA hunting. This NPC crew idea I think is not needed at all. I fail to see why we even need that. Sure I love getting some high ranked kills but those ranked kills will most likely go to those with already the best guns. It seems you are making these NPC crews to make up for the complete lack of wars these days. But months on end without wars make those blood thirsty killers out there, and you know who you are, anxious and prone to do something stupid which quite possibly may result in a war. This is a mafia game and there are suppose to be wars between families and cities. But now we will have even longer periods of no wars cause people are getting high kills without the actual war. Which I think will make this game dull in the long run. I sincerely hope I am wrong but we shall see. |

Hi Squishy - novel way of doing it. Well done. Regardless of agreeing with the principle or not the process is certainly good. |

FANTASTIC IDEA, Personally I think this idea is one of the best. This is a fantastic code Squishy and I can't wait for the first NPC Crew. It just sounds fun and it allows us users to be more interactive with our guns which afterall its the 'mafia' and nearly every Mafioso had a gun and shot at something. |

I like the NPC Crews... Squishy says it will not occur a lot, so I dont see a problem. Since there are rarely any ways going on lately *which can be a good or bad thing*, its nice to be able to have a war with an NPC crew, and have some fun, without having to worry about Allies, etc... |

I know the answers to 1 and 3 Darth_Vader so I'll answer those for you. 1) A whole new crew of 25 members will show up on the online list! It will stand out from a mile away lol. 3) They are NPC (Non-Playing Characters) crews, so they wont be attacking anyone. |
