Nothing can replace heart, the beginning years of Sammy Started by: SammyEric on Mar 23, '16 19:54

Born in a small Arkansas town, SammyEric was not exactly born to riches, but one cannot say that he was poor growing up. His parents divorced when he was one year old, and his mother had him until he reached the age of around 7. His mother gave him up, willingly, because she chose to be with a man who was a convicted felon, and she knew that Sammy's father was filing for custody on these grounds. Sammy and his sister went to live with his father and his new step-mother.

Sammy was highly interested in the newspapers that would speak of "Big City" living of gangsters, such as Al Capone and Bugs Moran. Sammy figured that if these men were making such big money, then why would the authorities and media make such a huge deal out of their activity. Upon gaining more knowledge of how these men made their money, Sammy made up his mind that this was how HE could make a fortune of money. In his early teens, he was already concocting a plan to move to a more lucrative city and get rid of his Arkansas roots and farm life that had brought his families nothing but misery and little money. Sammy's father began to notice that Sammy seemed to idolize the more "shady" side of life, as Sammy had been caught robbing barns and also had been caught trying to sleep with another farmer's daughter. Sammy's father tried to beat some sense into him, often with a belt or even with farm tools. This only furthered Sammy's opinion that he needed/wanted to get rid of any ties to the farm life and that HE WANTED TO DISH OUT SOME PUNISHMENT TO OTHERS. Sammy needed to hatch a plan.....a plan to leave his father behind.

Sammy knew of a "business man" that came through the farmland, offering supplies to the farmers, usually at the beginning of each month. Sammy made a brilliant move. When the man unloaded a barrel of flour into a nap-sack, Sammy waited until his father took the business man inside to pay him, and Sammy got inside the barrel and closed the lid !!!! Sammy had no clue where the business man was going, but he figured it would be better than what he had right now. Sammy knew that he could not survive for long at a time with the lid closed. When the business man would get his vehicle rolling, creating noise, Sammy would slip the lid open so he could breath. It was a physically taxing way to travel.

Sammy would not be able to keep this up for too long, thus leading to the first murder he ever attempted. Sammy was caught by the business man, while being stopped on business in Kansas City. Sammy went into a rage. He began swinging wild punches, and picked up a tool and began beating the man. Sammy hid the body, thinking he was dead. But now, Sammy had a problem. He did not know how to drive a car, and he did not know anything about Kansas City. Sammy decided he would hire someone to drive him to Las Vegas. The "payment" would be that Sammy would allow the person to keep the car once they had gotten there. SammyEric arrived in Las Vegas, at the young age of 17, with no money, no car, and shabby farm clothes, but the one thing that Sammy did have was HEART, and he was determined to make his dreams of being a mafioso come true.

YodaTheMaster sits in a bar waiting for the new guy to arrive and wonders whether or not he should stay longer or go out and find the kid, eventually he went looking for the new guy among the streets of Las Vegas the city of thousand sins or so he called it. SammyEric was the name he was lookin for and he needed to find him before one of the other gangs got a hand on him. YodaTheMaster didn't know much about the kid except that he came from a farm way out in Arkansas and was backed by G-men or so the reports read.

The news broke that "Man found beaten and bloody, but ALIVE, in Kansas City." Now Sammy may have even bigger problems if the man is able to identify or describe him. Sammy hurries out of the coffee shop with the newspaper stuck in his arm, on his way to meet TheMasterYoda.

Report Post Tip

Across the street from a nearby coffee shop YodaTheMaster searches for SammyEric the new guy and right before he decided to head home he hears rushing footsteps and begins his chase. YodaTheMaster knew his trench coat was slowing him down but he shrugged it off because he knew he looked badass with it on, chasing after the running man YodaTheMaster thought that maybe he would lead him straight to SammyEric.

Karmen looked up from her book towards the front of the Coffee Shop just in time to see YodaTheMaster exit, running after something. She wasn't sure what he was chasing, and she debated getting up out of her chair, throwing out what was left of her cold coffee and running after him to see, but she didn't really feel like breaking one of her high heels today, and she felt like she had been doing nothing but running for the last week and a half anyways.

So she put her head back down into the wonderful book she was reading, wishing Yoda luck finding what, or whom, he was seeking.

YodaTheMaster knew he needed to catch up with the guy, but he thought about calling Karmen, who at the time was someone he could count on and for that he passed probably because she was doing something important...rounding a corner, he passed by a payphone and thought about it for a bit but realized he needed to catch up and fast. After this he immediately wanted to call Jackie but passed because Jackie would probably hang up and not care. Sooner or later we ended up in the industrial district.

Jackie, came walking down the street. He saw Karmen reading her book from the window, which he decided to read the front cover of her book. He didn't seem very interested in it but was curious of what his friend was reading. He decided to go into the coffee shop, and order a cup of black coffee, and he sat down. He continued drinking his coffee, waiting for something to happen or someone to say something that would interest him.

After finishing her book, Karmen struggled to pull herself away. It was always like that. She would finish a book, then not want to escape from that fake world that had been created. This time, though, when she happened to look away from her book, she saw her good friend Jackie sitting in front of her at her table.

She smiled and said, "Hey! How long have you been here? I was probably reading for like five hours or something.. But.. I finished my book.. Have you read The Great Gatsby? It's possibly the best book I have read in a long time!"

Report Post Tip

Jackie looks up sleepily. He says, "Yeah, I have read that book." He brings out a book of his own, As I lay dying. This is the book that I'm reading right now. He says, "There is a rumor that Faulkner wrote this book from midnight to 4:00am. I found it interesting, since I never really sleep anyway. I found some inspiration." He brings out another copy of the book that he bought, and hands it too Karmen. I think you would like it. He gives her a wink, and sits down next to Karmen at the table.

Report Post Tip

Karmen giggles when Jackie yawns and says, "You're always so sleepy. I don't know how you function!"

Grabbing the book from him, she watches him sit down, again, then says, "I've actually never read this book! That's surprising. I feel like I've read almost everything from Dramas to Romance to Westerns! What is it about? Do you really think the guy wrote it in just a few hours though? Seems like an impossible task to me. I know for a fact I couldn't write a book in that short amount of time! Kudos to him if he really did!"

Report Post Tip

He wakes up out of a day dream that he was having. He says, "Oh, I forgot to mention that he supposedly wrote it over six weeks, and never changed a word of it. I always forget the small details." He gives a wink. He says, "The book is narrated by 15 different characters over 59 chapters. It is the story of the death of Addie Bundren and her poor, rural family's quest and motivations – noble or selfish – to honor her wish to be buried in her hometown of Jefferson, Mississippi. I don't want to ruin the whole book for you, so I won't say much more." She starts to read the book for awhile, until she hears the sounds of snoring. She looks up to see Jackie, passed out in the chair, and him drooling out of his mouth.

Report Post Tip

Karmen realized her blonde mistake, thinking that Jackie meant the guy had wrote the book in four hours.. That he actually meant over weeks.. She could have smacked her own forehead but she held back.

She listened as Jackie described the plot of the book and decided it did indeed sound interesting. She opened it to the prologue and read the first couple lines, and at the sound of snoring she looked up. Jackie had passed out no sooner than she had read two sentences!! Suddenly a thought came to her mind, and she got up quietly from her chair, making her way over to the counter and asking for some whipped cream. She put a couple dollar bills on the counter then made her way back over to Jackie.

Carefully, she spooned the whipped cream into his open palm, then went to her purse and grabbed her feather pen from her wallet. With the feather end, she tickled Jackie's nose until he smashed the whipped cream into his face, and she couldn't contain her laughter.

She handed him a few napkins and said, "Guess you made a mess there.. Not sure how that happened!"

Report Post Tip

Jackie, looking a little surprised of the events that just happened. Gets up awkwardly as Karmen is trying to give him the napkins. He bumps into her, getting some of the whipped cream on her clothing. She looks at him, a little annoyed, and he gives a awkward smile. He gets the whipped cream off his face. He says, "I guess I should have known that would happen." She smiles, laughed at him a bit, and they exchange a few words, and she starts to leave. As soon as she touched the door, Jackie says," Are you forgetting something?" She looks around herself confused, to see Jackie had taken her watch, and some money from her purse. She looks a little angry. He says, It's a hustle sweetheart, always need to know when someone may pull something, you made it too easy." He winks at her, gives her back her things, and walks out of the coffee shop. She looks out the window to see Jackie and what appeared to be a little boy, going up to candy store across the street. She wonders, what is Jackie up too, and follows them silently into the store.

Report Post Tip

Looking down, Karmen noticed her watch was missing and that her wallet felt about $5,000 lighter. She knew she shouldn't have been carrying that much money around but she had a deal that was going to go down soon and she had to have that money! She gave a dirty look to Jackie and knew that payback was a bitch, but she was hoping he'd at least give her her stuff back, which he did shortly after that thought was complete.

She quickly grabbed her watch and her money, stuffing the money in her purse and slipping the watch back onto her wrist, then watched as Jackie walked out of the shop. He was still acting a bit suspicious, so she followed him out about fifteen feet behind and saw him make his way into a candy store with a little boy who couldn't have been much more than ten years old.

What is going on here?! She thought to herself as she continued to follow him.

He walked up to the counter with the little boy that, at a closer look, turned out to be a midget man! The guy had a beard for crying out loud! She wondered what they could possibly be doing in a candy store, and when Karmen saw the cashier slip a small piece of paper into Jackie's hand, she grew even more confused.

She said, "You know I saw that trade there, right? I've been following you. What exactly is going on right now? You're hanging out with this midget that seemed to come out of nowhere while I was following you, and now the cashier is slipping you a piece of paper! Are you taking someone out for that guy? Or are you.. Experimenting with this midget? Like.. Please.. Explain!"

Plain as day, Sammy could hear the steps coming closer and he could hear the panting of heavy breathing. As the person being chased rounded the corner, Sammy heard "stop now, you con, you fraud." Hoping to win some acclaim, Sammy holds a foot out and trips the man being chased. Soon, the other man catches up and picks up the tripped man. Angrily, he yells "you are never going to flee me again," and he punches the man square in the face. Then he turns around. "Thanks bro, who are you bro?" "Well, my name is Sammy. SammyEric to be exact, WHO are you may I ask?" The man catches his breath and replies "I am YodaTheMaster"

Report Post Tip

"Hey uh thanks back there." I said hoping to lighten the dark mood but nonetheless he was happy and a bit cocky for my taste. "Look I was told to find ya kid." I told him stating that some really important men wanted him dead and trust me he knew. "Come with me, we'll meet the boss." I reassured him and we headed back to base passing the coffee shop and across the street I saw Karmen and Jackie talking a lot more than they normally do, deciding to go and say hi I enter the small corner shop and with a welcoming voice "There's where you two were! You guy's are getting pretty close to each other. Meet the new kid SammyEric." I say in hopes they greet him with some decency.

Report Post Tip

Karmen pulled Jackie and the midget man out of the candy shop, still waiting for him to quit being speechless and answer her about what was going on. She worried that he had gotten in too deep with this and thought maybe she could help, if only he would say something. He was starting to remind her of Mute!

No sooner had they exited the coffee shop, they were greeted by YodaTheMaster, and his friend whom she recognized as SammyEric. She waved at Yoda and Sammy and said, "Hey guys. Nice to see you. I was just confronting Jackie here about why he's hanging out with this bearded midget guy. And now he's silent like I'm supposed to read his mind.."

Report Post Tip

"That was uh unexpected...so mind telling me what the hell is going?" I was insistent and more confused than normal about what was going on and to be honest I think Sammy was too. "Are ya gonna just blink at me or what? I'm not even gonna start on why there's a bearded midget." looking around expecting an answer I then saw Karmen's grip on the midget tighten as if she was getting mad or upset one of the two. I then of course said to the midget "You see this women, the one next to ya, word of advice don't piss her off or pal you won't piss again ya get me?" then without warning I took the midget and threw him outside.

Jackie and the little man look at each other and shrug. They both knew that the business that was being done in the candy store, will not be told too anyone. The little man takes out a hand gun.

Jackie says, "No, not here and not now, this isn't the right place for that right now. We will hustle a few people later, I will meet you a few blocks down in a few hours." He gives the little man, a piece of paper, and the little man leaves.

Karmen looks shocked at what the little man has done. She is about to ask Jackie what that was about, and he stops her from saying anything.

He says, "He has some mental problems that aren't worked out yet, but don't we all?" Jackie gives a chuckle. He continues,"Once you get to know him, he is actually quite funny and a really good business partner."

He then acknowledges the two gentle men in front of him. He says, "Your new here on the streets, well if you want to stay alive, you have to go with the flow, and do what feels natural, or you will be killed, and nobody likes dying. So always be like water."

He then opens up an umbrella, and looks up in the sky. He says, "It seems like it may rain soon, don't get wet, always be prepared for any situation." He gives a wink and walks into the candy store a second time, this time to steal a few candies, and he goes walking down the street.

Report Post Tip

"Uh Jackie ol' buddy you know we're here, me and Sammy right?" I called out to Jackie expecting a response but instead he kept rambling and walking down the street. "Hey bud!" I called out again this time a bit louder. No response..."Well that was completely random. Who wants a cup of joe, it's on me."
