What Really Happened? Started by: WoodStein on Feb 09, '10 07:39

Very good. You have successfully deduced the opposites of your earlier statements. You are getting somewhere.

Didn't you just say that "scared" wasn't the right word to use? Now that it suits your agenda, you are using it? I'm laughing my ass off at your poor attempt.

Philly is not "wary" of New York, because they have no reason to be.  Likewise, I am not "wary" of the nice old lady who lives downstairs from me. Why should I be? I suppose I could try to create something where it does not exist. Much like you are making an awful attempt at doing.

NY does have the stomach for a fight with anyone, if they felt it was necessary to do so. If I felt it was necessary to punch the little lady downstairs in the face, I would have the stomach to do it. But, since to this point she has done nothing but bring me cookies, why would I even think about it?

So there you go. Simple enough, really, but you decided to interpret that as a flexing of muscles. It was a poor attempt at twisting words. You really should be ashamed of yourself, you know. I personally know an eight-year-old who is more effective in the art of manipulation.

Report Post Tip

Children are highly manipulative.

I'm merely offering analysis - I have witnessed many, many things happening in the 8 years I have been around this place - and this is a text book case.

I actually think NY and Philly are well run cities that bring stability - to their own cities.  However, there can't be two superpowers in this thing of ours without one destroying the other.

So, which will it be?

Brutus - you know you made a mistake with your big mouth but won't admit it.  It's a character defect of yours, nothing to do with me.

Richard hands WoodStein a sandwich. Right before he can take a bite, Richard punches him in the face. Turning around with his arms up in victory, Richard dances down the street and out of site.

Report Post Tip

Richard - please.  This is a grown up debate.

* takes some change out of pocket *

Off you go and buy some sweets.

Brutus - you were saying, before your little wannabe colleague jumped in?

Report Post Tip

There is no parity in terms of power between Philly and New York.

Philly was not capable of removing BoabyWanKenobi or Aurora - something Deimne did with 2 bullets.

Even if I believed the statement that 'there can't be two superpowers in this thing of ours without one destroying the other', which I don't given that it depends upon who the two are, it doesn't even apply in this situation because there is only one.

Report Post Tip

The only mistake my big mouth made was entertaining the whims of a troll.

Offering analysis you say? Not really. Analysis, at least in the academic sense, is based on analyzing facts. Since your hypothesis was devoid of facts, it's quite a stretch to call it an analysis, don't you think?

However, you are right about two things. Two superpowers generally do not coexist for long, and children are highly manipulative - and most people around here have the intellect of children. You can count yourself in this group. You are, in fact, a moron. There is no way around it. You are a moron because either: 1) You believe the crap you are saying; or 2) You believe that it is effective propaganda that others will believe. (See how I supported my claim with an analysis? That is how it is done. Analysis involves using logic to support a hypothesis, not merely piling bullshit on top of more bullshit)

One of those has to be true, and either conclusion means you are a moron. Of course, as mentioned, there are quite a few around here who could be so easily manipulated, but you failed to account for the majority who see through your poor attempt and call you on it. If it was good manipulation, you might even get it past the vast majority of the tards around here, but seeing as you were not even able to get it past a majority shows how poor of an attempt it was.

As far as superpowers coexisting, there have certainly been several exceptions to that. Ganelon, TheThirdDan, and Robespierre got along smashingly. As did the entire web of UN families. Anyhow, I would be hesitant to call Philadelphia a "superpower". You seem to have it in your head that they are some force to be reverred. No disrespect to anyone in Philly, but that is a bit of a stretch. New York is by far the dominant force in all the cities, and has been since before your ancestor TGFTB's lame attempt at propaganda. Everyone knows this, except you, apparently.

Report Post Tip

Brutus? Big mouth? Are you serious WoodStein? That sounds rather childish to me... Now you are saying Philly is scared? I dont see how a civilian can make such a statement here... do you know how many high ranks you are offending right now? This is not about Philly, this is about a St-Louis former Godfather making a hit on one of NY's captains! Do you think we would actualy believe this came from philly? A godfather makes his own decisions and now a entire city took the downfall. It happened because it was simply the thing to do in such a situation. A Godfather is responsible for his own city and his own actions. Unfortunately for them, the city paid for a Godfather's actions. Now that is what really happened!

Report Post Tip

Gwarble - yes, I agree.  Purely in terms of what is contained within the cities, NY IS stronger than Philly.  But, Philly's influence stretches across many cities.  OK, NY snipped off the SL branch of Philly, but, LA is still there, Chi would probably do their bidding (if the price was right).  NY could match them for power - if they move into Detroit and SL.  They should strike while the iron is hot.  SL is there's by right anyway - for the victors - the spoils and all that.

So why aren't they?

The bonhomie between the GF's of Philly and HY is false.  They;'d kill each other in a second if they thought they could get away with it.

Report Post Tip

You clearly don't have an inkling as to what goes on behind the scenes from that summing up.

Report Post Tip

While I was not around for the awful atrocities committed by Quirinus, it stands to reason that your father (presumably) does indeed deserve to be in a permanent state of lifelessness - As has been mentioned previously the Godfather of St. Louis decided to take this course of action. Eradicating those loyal to Quirinus was absolutely the right call from New York.

Anyway, thank you for the words of wisdom on how I should go about my business dear WoodStein!

Richard - please. This is a grown up debate.

Grown up debates have valid arguments on both sides. Therefore I reject your reality and substitute the real one. Although it doesn't seem to fill the empty cavity you have in your skull.

Richard drags a dumpster to the seen, hoping someone throws WoodStein in. Bored, he pulls out a tomato and lobs it at WoodStein.

Report Post Tip

yes, analysis is looking at facts.  As I have.  Then advancign theories.

Not many people believe that Q decided to shoot an NY captain off his own bat.  He wasn't a 'true' GF like Philly or NY has (sorry kates et al).  They have stature and following.

I'm not a troll.  Nor am I a moron.

I offered an explanation for @the War' that held that it was Philly expanding - which it was.

Now I'm arguing that it's at best unlikely that Q acted alone.

When looking at a situation, you look at who benefits.  Who benefitted here?  The future leaders of SL and Philly, who benefitted by having many more members.  Expect a few more families popping up in Philly soon.

Unexpectedly, NY have beneffited hugely - would people have been publically declaring them a superpower before?

Report Post Tip

Yes.

They have been for months.

Report Post Tip

Gwarble - please...

Report Post Tip

Pssst, Gwarble. Don't confuse him with the facts! He doesn't want those!

Realizing he isn't actually whispering, Richard grabs a hat and pulls a rabbit out of it, hoping to distract WoodStein.

TADA!

Report Post Tip

Richard - please go away, this clearly is beyond your understanding.

Report Post Tip

You are hilarious WoodStein, I'm digging your attempted patronising tones with Gwarble there. If only you'd had a clue what you were on about, you might've pulled it off.

One question....

Now I'm arguing that it's at best unlikely that Q acted alone.

What exactly was the plan here then if Quirinus wasn't acting alone? "Hey guys, rather than us all taking our subsequent shots if I hit WillHayes, I know what will REALLY stand us this alliance in good stead going forward. Come for a scube in my think tank for a minute, like, yeaaah. Here's how it'll go down...I'll call in the NPCs, then I'll hit WillHayes, then we just let St Louis get absolutely slaughtered. Then we go from there? Yeah?? FUCK YEAH! Quirinus, you rock my city!"

Report Post Tip

"yes, analysis is looking at facts.  As I have."

No, you haven't. As I mentioned already, your speech contained six factual statements, none of which were central to your argument.

Not many people believe that Q decided to shoot an NY captain off his own bat.

Really? I'm pretty sure it's just you who believes otherwise, unless you can show evidence to the contrary?

I'm not a troll.  Nor am I a moron.

False. You must be one of the two, as already stated. You either believe this rubbish, or you do not believe it, but expect others to believe it. Either way, you are a moron, and if the second option applies, you are also a troll.

I offered an explanation for @the War' that held that it was Philly expanding - which it was.

Really? Philly's strategy for expanding was to get a Godfather and one of its best guns killed, not to mention all the crews under him, in a trade off for a New York Don who couldn't be bothered to train his gun? Wouldn't it have made more sense to keep their allies alive and expand within their cities or to Detroit? Sorry to fry your noodle with logic there, Chachi.

When looking at a situation, you look at who benefits.  Who benefited
here?  The future leaders of SL and Philly, who benefited by having
many more members.  Expect a few more families popping up in Philly
soon.

Nobody benefited here. Certainly not Philly or St. Louis. First, why would it benefit Philly to replace a strong Godfather with a weaker one? And why would they need to take any actions to expand within their own city of Philadelphia? Durrr......

Unexpectedly, NY have beneffited hugely - would people have been publically declaring them a superpower before?

Lolwtf? New York benefited by having one of its Dons killed? As to your second question, yes, people who have a clue of the political dynamics would have declared NY a superpower before they lost their Don. New York is by far more powerful than any other city, and if you want to count Las Vegas as their ally, then they are more powerful than the rest of the cities combined. Everyone knows this except you.

If you are actually being serious, why don't you take some time to talk to people and figure out the political landscape before embarrassing yourself like this? You talk like someone from Mars who was dropped on this planet and told to immediately assess the situation before learning anything about the culture.

Report Post Tip

Hoopi..

Q might have taken the shot expecting NY to approach Philly (who he basically worked for) and sought some kind of settlement.  Or maybe he wanted HY and Philly to settle things.  Or, maybe, he just got bored and took a shot..  I'd say all three are at least equally plausible..

Report Post Tip

Richard bursts out laughing, pointing at WoodStein.

O man, this is hilarious. You actually...

Another round of laughter forces Richard to cut his statement short. He cannot talk and can barely breathe because he is LAUGHING TOO HARD.
