You've gotta be joking, right? Started by: Croccifixio on May 19, '10 04:26

You’re walking down the street when you come across a flyer taped to a light post. Curiosity gets the better of you and so you approach it and read the following:

The New Orleans Comedy Clubs Grand Opening Competition

FOURTY (yes that’s right, 40) MR Credits to be won!

New Orleans invites you to come to Croccifixios brand new comedy club and participate in the grand opening festivities. We’re offering you the chance to win your share of 40 MR credits, and all you have to do is make us laugh.

We want you to prepare a comedy act (OOC: fully role played) (be it a sketch, a stand up routine, or any other kind of thing you can think of to make people laugh) and perform it here in New Orleans. Group acts are accepted but you’ll have to split the prize between yourselves if you’re lucky enough to win.

Competition signups will begin right now and will end a week from now (May 19 MR time) and will end May 26 MR time. We will then randomly choose whose act will go when and you’ll have 24 hours in which to perform your act in the New Orleans Comedy Club in the New Orleans business district.

The competition will be judged by New Orleans finest, including the Crew Leaders and the Right Hand of each family plus myself (Croccifixio).

Prizes will be:

1st place: 25 MR credits

2nd place: 10 MR credits

3rd place: 5 MR credits

More information will be handed out once signups have finished, and act orders (dates to be performed) will be given to those who have signed up.

If you’re interested, please sign your name or your group members names below:

Croccifixio stands nearby and grinningly tells you that for the next 7 days there is going to be an open mic contest for 1 liners, with a top one off prize of 500k with the winner decided by himself.

What're you waiting for?

Report Post Tip

At this hour, the streets are filled with drunks or zombies wrapping up after a long nights work.  I think you'll find the acts you want tomorrow after the bulk of us have had a good nights sleep and some time to prepare some material.  This sounds like a good gig though, I might even give it a whirl.

Dante gets a gander of a man talking about giving away some free stuff, Hearing All you gota do is make us laughf. And thinking to himself well that shouldnt be hard, anythings worth a shot.
walking up to a table, with a nice lined pice calligraphy papper and a pen sitting on the sign up list. Jotting his name down, he then speals his way down the rest of the street begining to think about what he might writte up.

Bruiser walks up and pats Croccifixio before addressing the masses.

This is a good opportunity for somone out there to walk away with a great prize package.  You have plenty of time to sign up and get your routine together.  Bruiser reaches inside his coat and pulls out a wad of MR credits and begins to thumb through them before walking back towards his car.

Walking up to the post where Mango spots a bright new poster with what he can tell are prizes on it, it instantly grabs his attention and he reads it.

"40 credits!" Mango yells excitedly.

"Hopefully with gracious time limit and everything that is up for grabs there will be some very entertaining posts, cant wait for this to go live."

Mango walks away from the crowd and the post to go on about his daily business.

One liners and an open mic? Hell Croccifixio, I'm getting so much disrespect I'll give you two lines. Sam steps to the mic.

So the other day my psychiatrist says to me "Carollo, you're crazy." I says "Doc, I want a second opinion." He says "Okay, you're ugly too."

My son, he comes up to me and he says "Dad, how much does it cost to get married?" I says, "I don't know son, I'm still paying."

Sylvestro walks off laughing flipping a silver dollar.

Report Post Tip

I am most definitely in.  I am down.  Put me down.  My ancestors owned a few comedy clubs during their time.  Get ready for some gold.

My only question is where do I sign up?  At the club?  You can consider this my submission of interest, but if I need to visit the establishment first, let me know, and I"ll be sure to do so at my earliest possible convenience.

Report Post Tip

Sign up here, all i ask is that you perform at my club. And sylvestro, that made me laugh heartily, but next time go to my club first. Heres 50k for the effort though.

Croccifixio laughs to himself.

Fantastic idea Coop and as far as competitions go this should be a good one, really looking forward to judging this comp.

Sylvestro, "Dad, how much does it cost to get married?" I says, "I don't know son, I'm still paying." not as much as getting a divorce :D

Report Post Tip

Sylvestro look around. What? I am supposed to follow instructions too?

Report Post Tip

Chuck grins as he saw Sylvestro confused..

I dont know about you mate but in Big Easy we have a set of rules to be followed. You will either follow them or be ignored. So it is definitely your choice.

Chuck takes the sign up paper and give it to Sylvestro.

Your choice mate.

:George perks up:

Alright!  Put me down, then.  I'm ready.   i look forward to my chance to perform.  Should be fun.

Report Post Tip

I am interested Champ says aloud and signs his name on the crumpled sheet of paper.

Report Post Tip

Sylvestro takes the sign up sheet from Bruiser Jr's RHM, he listens intently to what he has to say. Well sir, any insight into how things work in the big easy is welcome, you'd think I would be better acquainted with the policies and procedures of such a fine city. No joking, these things are important to me. My boss says support a guy, I go do it. If I need to talk to some guy? I make sure I know who the hell he is, and more importantly that I know what the hell I am talking about. Someone runs a contest I try to follow the rules to the letter. But as evident by recent conversation, that standard is not always upheld as it should be, especially by someone of high rank. So even though it will be ignored, I wanted to show my appreciation for all the information you just gave me and anyone else who happens by.

Sam flips his silver dollar to Chuck.

Report Post Tip

Anselmo laughs at Syl and Chuck's exchange, the intentionally humorous parts as well as the unintentionally ones

Sylvestro, despite the unfortunate fact that your response to Chuck will be lost on the vast majority and will go over the heads of most, its replies like this that will make you a force to be reckoned in this competiton.

I look forward to seeing all the acts. Best of luck to all

Report Post Tip

Signs his name and says, "I may not win but hey? I'll give anything a go" Prophet smiles.

Report Post Tip

Wow, prizes! And competitions, that's just what we need today.

I may not be a comedian or something, and I am not joining but I will sit at the front seat to hear those talented people and have a pleasant and relaxing day.

Report Post Tip

Its great to see some people signing up for this, unfortunately though, Prophet has had to withdraw his entry. Looking forward to seeing some of these acts.

Report Post Tip

George_Costanza, a comedy act!? Now this is something I have to see with my own eyes!

Diablos laughs and heads towards the airport to book his ticket to New Orleans
