| Tatoo's and respect! | Started by: Sneakyrat_ on Jul 03, '10 23:19 |

Sneakyrat waits a moment to think about this, remembering how his father used to do this, cross's the street... sets a crate on the sidewalk and stands on it...
"Ladies... gentlemen... i come here today to debate. Debate on why is it that people lack respect of highly ranked members. Especially if they are wearing tatoo's. Let me explain... i know, this topic has been debated for generations... i remember highly esteemed members talking about this and never found common ground on this."
Sneakyrat unbottons his shirt and rolls up his sleeve revealing his tatoo. NOT PP Friendly...
"Does anyone know what this means? Of course, button men know it... and i am not beeing sarcastic about it either. Because, clearly, some men, and i hope they arent button men, dont know what the hell it means. I was walking the streets in NO today and somebody came out of the blue and reached for my pockets, ending up with nothing and his face was hidden by a scarf. I could've shot him... but i am not sure his boss would of appreciated it. Also... i have respect for the other boss's... more than i can say for the guy who tried to pickpocket me. Dont anyone get me wrong and twist my words... i am not complaining. I am debating... about what is right and what is wrong. Lack of respect is wrong... city's have rules, rules that must be obeyed. Chicago has a rule that clearly states that it is not pp friendly. And NO... states that it is limited to those who are pp friendly or have written consent. So... i am all ears... i want to hear opinions about this issue... rules are clear, written by the highly esteemed leaders. What else is there to say... should the leaders put down the signs that mentions pickpocketing? Since people are still disobeying their leaders rules? Who are the true leaders here, the people, low ranks? Or the highly esteemed leaders that work very hard on a everyday baisis to keep their family's wealthy. I would vote for the last one. This is not to offend any leaders, like i said, i have great respect for all the city leaders. They have earned what is right, the respect from all of us. It is just to remind people of the right way of doing things. Read the tatoo's, obey the rules... otherwise... we would'nt need the rules. Lets hear it folks... who agree's with this and who does'nt?" |

I believe your a man of high rank and if someone disrespects you they need to be repremended on it. On the same note if there looking for trouble and your clearly showing a scowl by not being pick pocket friendly then the robber deserves what he gets. |

"You are right about that BostonGeorgeJung... that is why the people are doing it anonymously. Hidding their faces, because they damn well know it is wrong. And i would like to see them come out here and explain this to me. Yes, i am high ranked... but the tatoo also has a meaning... no matter the rank. A tattoo is a tattoo... and we are honorable men... goodfella's." |

I am very pro pickpocketing, so I am going to have to go with the approach that if it happens one should not get too upset or be offended.
On a side note, I believe this issue has already been spoken about on many different occaisons in these same streets. |

Sure pickpocketing has been discussed ad nauseum Mr.StackBundles, but this is a specific case in a specific city. New Orleans, a place near and dear to my heart and yours too I suspect. There are rules in The Big Easy Mr.Sneakyrat, and they should be followed to the letter. I certainly can't give you any redress, you don't know the perp and I don't enforce the rules. But I can assure you that if you had a perp, you could definitely count on New Orleans to enforce her rules in due course. As it is, we have someone breaking rules and getting away with it, that must be one hell of a thrill for whoever it was. |

To be honest I think its up to you to enforce a no pp tattoo, either by dealing with the offender yourself or having enough clout to get people above you to deal with it. If you think about it people who pickpocket you with that tattoo are disrespecting you personally therefore its up to you to have a valid response. If you can't cope with pickpockets, you deserve to be pickpocketed but I know you sneakyrat and I think you can deal with it. |

mr. fyodor, there is one problem with that. most of the "higher ups" relative to mr. sneakyrat, are either CLs or GFs and how many of those are not PP friendly? if you go complain to a PP friendly CL without a name, what you are most likely gonna get is "so its 5000. big deal suck it up." (that last is based on personal experiance, if you(as a CL) are not like that i apologize).
the point is, there is a code, many CLs have it in there family rules, that says, if a person is not friendly, then leave them the hell alone. but when you come down to it, a mobster who successfully PPs a person is, 50-75% of the time, going to be masked. so unless you put the word out now, can i get this PP WS, you won't find out.
and if you return the favor and the other person see's its you and whines to their boss(and many of the people i've caught with their hands in my pocket have that same damn tatoo) you're in a world of hurt. i mean, what can you do? shoot them? i think not. so a person who can pull that off, is pretty much scott free. |

"Mr.StackBundles, i appreciate your opinion... but why do you think this topic comes out here so often. A tattoo is a tattoo... there are plenty of people who are pp friendly out there. Why does this occur? It is not right! It is just about wrong and right. I am offended about the lack of respect, not the pickpocketing. The lack of respect of ones tattoo... there is a difference here. I am not telling people to stop their pickpocketing practices. I am asking them to respect someones tattoo. And also, i have a right to be offended and demand respect... hell, i have earned that, the second i have earned my button."
"And to you Mr.Fyodor... to be honest. If i knew who the guy was he would've been dealt with... the rightful way of course. Like i said before, i respect the other Leaders and know how to do things the right way. So the next best thing to do is come out here and debate on this. Or course i know how to solve my own issues. I am not here to solve my own issues, i am here to ask people to respect our tattoo's. To respect our city rules... but most importantly... to respect our leaders that have taken the time to write up the rules. They have earned at least that!"
"Mr.Sylvestro_Carollo... it is good to hear such a esteemed honorable man such as you speak your mind. And i appreciate you comfirming New Orlean's efforts to reinforce the rules. It is highly appreciated! If i tag the name on the one that offended me i will certainly ask his leader to inform his staff of your city rules. So that things like this dont occur and we wont have to debate it out here in our streets! Thankyou sir, for this kind gesture!" |

First of all, I totally agree it shows a great lack of respect for whichever city's leaders have written the rule that is being broken. However without being able to identify the person, I don't see how any action could be taken, I am a bit puzzled that you said you could have shot the guy but how if you could not identify him? If ever this happens in our city of New Orleans and the person can be identified, I would hope the victim would report it immediately. Unfortunately, I think it is a growing trend of late, more and more disrespect being shown. I do not see this as merely a pickpocketing issue. Pickpocketing is one of the biggest issues concerning it as it is so easy to get away with, when someone is masked or disguised then even the local snitches don't have information to tell you. I would also, however, like to state that I have received quite a bit of communication concerning your speech Sneakyrat_ as you were not very clear on the fact that you had no way of knowing the pickpocketer was a NO resident or not, people see to think it is implied that it was. Please do clear this up. |

ok sneaky and philli you are both right, however speaking as someone who has tattooed himself 'pp friendly' and had 5000 stolen of them many a time, I do believe that taking the other option should have its plusses and minuses - having a non pp friendly tattoo will cut down on pickpocketing by a large percent compared to me and thats good for you, however if someone feels he has the balls to take you on in that arena, whilst disregarding all the other pp friendly gangsters around, I still feel you have put yourself in a position that you have to defend yourself with either your own knowledge or contacts. |

there is a pickpocket witness statement. if you can find the person who got the statement then you can find the PPer. you put the word out and it'll trickle back to you. go through your CL. |

to be honest its a bit of a study in altruism, when I had 'pp me but pay me back' everyone robbed me and payed me back. I had no power and could do nothing if they didnt but they still robbed me and payed me back. Thats not altruism its just giving people another option. If you put, PP me but you will end up dead I bet few people will mess, gangsters here just weigh up incentives. |

yeah chaotic but that kind of means you would be tattooing something on yourself that applies in some cases but doesnt in others. |

Yes Angelique, i understand your issue and maybe i was'nt clear enough. Actualy this happened in New Oleans and the guy was masked. I have no clue on what city he is from, if i have caused you headackes i sincerely apologise. I said i coul've shot him meaning i could've randomly shot at the crowd hoping the bullet would hit the target, but of course that would'nt be smart. And if i did know who the killer was, i would've asked my own boss to contact his leader and let him solve the situation. This happened in NO and the city has rules, that is where i am going with this. People should respect tattoo's and city rules.
Chaotic, a tattoo is a tattoo... of course i understand that is a godfather pp's me, it would be out of my place to try to deal with it myself. I would probably talk with my boss and see what Chicago's beloved Godfather thinks of this, and if my own city's godfather did'nt care, i would look the other way. Yes, he has earned that much respect from me. That was a very good point you have made.
Angelique, you are right about one thing... this is not a pickpocketing issue... it is one of respect. |
