| Witness Statements for MIA | Started by: KingofMeatPopsicles on Nov 07, '18 16:13 |

Alright fucktard. Please tell me how you hunt down someone who steals an MIA when there’s no WS. Are we gonna make everyone take a shot to prove their timers aren’t used? Am I gonna hack the admin accounts to view coding? Every time someone comes up with a rebuttal to this so far they’ve only had ignorance to rely on as an argument. |

Maybe this is why the thieves haven't been caught yet .. incompetence and lack of cooperation |

You're operating under the assumption that a user can see everyone in their city. Then get it down to a short list. Which would still involve forcing those online to prove their shot timers haven't been used. Which means they have to shoot at something. Even then, they could have perked the shot. So everytime an MIA is stolen are you going to volunteer your account as the guinea pig to see if their timers have been used? |

Wow you really are fucking retarded let me break it down for you....Mia gets stolen, copy the ONLINE list, save it, another MIA gets stolen, copy the ONLINE list, rinse and repeat and compare .....filter out the names that don't show up when the MIA is stolen and holeeeeee fuckkkkk you've proven who the thief is ....but I'm just a fucktard right so what I just said makes no sense |

And what if more than one person is stealing MIAs or multiple people are online at the same time as the MIAs being stolen? |

Nah bud I want you to realize this is a game. A game that chose to include real life money in a form as a feature. With a feature as purchasing MIAs.
You're expecting the average user or even new user to copy a list everytime their MIA is stolen and slowly widdle it down to who it could be. Which could take weeks or even months. Probably never.
It's not about "handing" something over to someone. It's about giving someone a time frame to kill their MIA without having to deal with such antics as what you're suggesting. Even so, people are on stealth and can get away with stealing the MIA.
It shouldn't take someone dedicating a significant amount of their game play to protect a feature that is supporting the site. |

how to buy a MIA without spending real life cash:
if a hitter is training a gun and doesnt know how to copy and paste...they shouldnt be a fucking hitter...... if a family or district comes together or even a city or a coast comes together catching a thief becomes so much easier..because ya know the chances of the MIA always belonging to the same person is extremely extremely RARE but once again i digress.....im a fucktard after all |

Out of the last 1,548 MIAs spawned, 83 have been killed by another player. I do not know if they were abandoned, gifts, stolen or what not, but we can look at the data and summarize a bit. Of those 83 killed by another player, 78 were abandoned, leaving 5 that were either spawned for another player (oh shit, im at my max, hey joe heres a free kill), a gift, or were stolen. 49m, 26s abandoned This means that assuming that every single one killed under 10 minutes was theft and there have been no gifts or people past their max, then you have a 99.677% or higher chance of killing the public IA you just spawned provided you kill it within 10 minutes of it being spawned. |

so the 1548 that were spawned what time period are we talking? is that over the past 30 days meaning only 5 stolen in a month? just curious how big the "theft" issue is with MIA's |

Thank you Squishy for the breakdown NF if your only argument is real money and you value it that much would you be okay if MIA's are bought with in-game cash then? If you consider a single credit potential money would it be fine with you for admins to stop their "donations of money" over the lounge and VIP posting as to not overwhelm the economy in any way and let the players dictate fully the marketplace? Assunto has won 1000+ credits alone from lounge I'm sure there are many others with other impressive scores - should that all be taken away just because you value every credit its potential 1$ value and because you lost said $ few weeks ago? I don't think it should |

Soooooo then it’s no big deal to quit making financial contributions to the site, Corsair? Your argument would hold water if you could take MR credits to your actual RL bank and deposit them for RL cash. But you can’t. So yes, when it comes to credit involved transactions you have to look at it as a RL cash transaction. Otherwise the admins should simply remove the feature of being able to purchase credits. Maybe alternatively credits that you’ve purchased via PayPal get a code tag and when they’re used the MIA can’t be seen by others for 10 minutes. I love that you’re all so afraid of witness statements. Pretty sure if thousands of people were being shot in real life there’d be a couple witnesses somewhere..... |

I don't understand why this is such an issue. We've just heard that less than one half of one percent of MIAs get "stolen". Furthermore, you can guarantee that your MIA isn't stolen if you can just pay attention for one freaking minute. I've had plenty of MIAs stolen, but they tend to be when I: - get busy writing and forget Can someone tell me a scenario where someone has an IA stolen when you were focused and put a solid minute of effort into shooting said MIA? I think that launching an MIA has to have some element of player effort, albeit a 60 second one. Even if launching an MIA is basically a +1, I don't want to cut out the middleman of the player actually needing to click the wack button when they've essentially launched a free kill. I don't think we need to make this easier. And even if MIA witness statements became a thing, do we really want CLs spamming each other asking for WSs for these, when you could have just paid attention and clicked two buttons for a solid minute? Furthermore, I wouldn't want game developers/administrators focusing their efforts on this to make things even easier on players, when there are things like Durden raids that have been discussed as potentially improving for quite a while. |

Whether it's for one minute or not, it's the fact of what that credit represents. Like you said, there's various reasons you have had yours stolen. If you're not going to bring the W/S function back then at the least protecting them for only the spawning user for 5-10 minutes shouldn't be an issue.
THIS IS A GAME. It's a game that already requires significant amounts of time to make a decent account. It shouldn't require even more time especially when I'm PAYING for a service.
If I spawn it, go piss and comeback and it's dead that's quite shitty. |

5 out of 1548 were killed by someone other than the owner, this is making a mountain out of an ant hill |

In my mind, the credit represents a strong chance at a kill... it's not a magical +1 like a hustle point. I agree with you that "THIS IS A GAME"- which is exactly my point! Play the game and don't expect the game to handle things if you don't have a 1.5 minute window of time/attention span. If you spawn an MIA and you need to piss, then you should either: 1) Spawn your MIA, go piss, come back and shoot it. As long as you haven't chugged gallons of liquid, you've got a 99% chance of your MIA being there when you're back. 2) Wait literally one minute to piss? 3) Go piss, come back, launch MIA? What is difficult about this? I don't understand why we need to make this even easier than it already is.
What "even more time" are you referring to here? The one minute it takes to shoot an MIA? Or the 1 MIA per 200 MIAs launched that gets stolen and you need to launch another one? Lots of times, when people justify that a game should be easier because you're paying for it, the answer is "git gud". But honestly, if you want to "git gud" shooting MIAs... you literally just need to focus for one minute every hour. I don't think that's an unfair expectation. |

I stand corrected; it's one out of 300 and not 200. This is why I'm not a math major. |
