| Witness Statements for MIA | Started by: KingofMeatPopsicles on Nov 07, '18 16:13 |

Someone give me a valid reason why witness statements for MIAs should not be in existence?
So out of 1548 people who have been killed, you're telling me no one would be around to witness it? Ever? In the entire country?
Not only are you still arguing to pretty much cost the game money in some way. You're getting away from it being realistic.
Sorry that my "take a piss" example wasn't a strong enough argument. I'll be sure to comeback later with more examples, three paragraphs explaining them and so forth. |

NF, were you around for the Disorder regime and the purge lists? Knowing how far some people will go to stay on top will never stop surprising me. If you are unable to get stronger, the next best thing is to keep everyone weaker. Their goal was to kill anyone who reached X numbers of days old or X number of witnesses found... Cull them off when they are too young/small to do anything, but they waited so that you put in enough work that it really hurt to die. If they let you build a bit before they killed you off for a few of your characters in a row, you get so disheartened that you would leave the game and not keep, thus keeping possible them on top even longer. Removing witnesses was a way to preserve the game before they could kill it off. While I don't think there are many people like that still playing, I still have to assume that eventually it may happen again. Not having witnesses safeguards that from happening again.
There is a warning before you spawn every MIA that says as follows:
If you think there is additional warnings that I can put in to further stress that this is not a guaranteed +1 to your gun, then I am all ears. |

Squishy already handled the main reason for this, which is preventing paranoid leaders from using WS's to target people trying to train a gun secretly.
There's a lot of unrealistic elements of this game: flight times, currency amounts, drug types, and all sorts of this. Why is this the immersion breaking thing? Isn't it just as realistic to think that someone training up their skill as a shooter would practice out in the middle of nowhere?
See previous discussion of realism. Also, how is this costing the game money? Not sure you've come close to proving that. You can launch MIAs with credits (which you win or purchase) or you can launch them with game cash. It's not like credits are a special currency that you need to exchange money for. By being active in the lounge/the forums/earning game cash people can stockpile a decent amount of credits. If anything the ability to train on MIAs without sending out witness statements would seemingly make them more likely to invest real life cash into their accounts, since they know there's a greater chance that account would be purged/killed for being a threat.
I love how you use "three paragraphs" here like it's some insane amount of writing. You don't need three paragraphs. You just need a good argument. For example: I don't think MIAs should generate Witness Statements. - No WSs for MIAs makes it possible for people to train their guns secretly and having less concern about a paranoid leader preemptively purging them. This is healthy for the game, since it encourages people to invest in their accounts without fear of losing them. - No WSs for MIAs also helps keep this place from turning too much into Google Spreadsheet Simulator Adventure and puts more focus on the actual game - No WSs for MIAs additionally makes sure that leaders aren't sending a thousand spam mails asking for witness statements for people whose MIAs got stolen because they lack the attention span of a semi-dedicated goldfish. In my opinion, those factors outweigh any benefit of adding WSs for every MIA. |
