The episode was exactly how I expected it to be and was reasonably good for it.  Everyone who has access to YouTube to watch the trailer and has scoured even one of the series 8 theories will know what's coming up and as such this episode was always going to be a little pre-ambly.

Think Jon is too much of a wet fish and Dany too arrogant to like now.

Tyrion to betray Dany, Varys to align with Sansa, Bran to have some kind of Hodor type flashback, Sansa to be the last Stark standing and get the iron throne and the hound to survive and contract religion.

I really enjoyed the first episode. I think it had a lot in it and set up for what should be a good season.

I hated Cersei, but I can see the appeal now. I vote for the Night King for the next King of Westeros.

Seems a dam long wait between episodes despite the fact I have waited ages for this season :(

I hope there will some really unexpected deaths this season

Thoughts about the Elephants in the Golden Company Mercs.

I think Queen Cersei screwed herself utterly by paying off the crown's debt to the Iron Bank.  See, the bank knows the Lannister's gold at Casterly Rock isn't what it used to be and they've been living off borrowed money for a long time. 

Because of this, they aren't good debters.  Tywin was NEVER going to want or be able to pay the bank in full.  And, since the crown/Lannisters owed so much money, the bank can't just write it off and support a rival.  After all, if someone else ended up on the throne they'd never see a single dime of the cash.

With Cersei having paid the bank off, and having no good source for long term income, and with nothing like Dragons to make her look like the winning side... I'm thinking the Golden Company has been paid to switch sides mid-war and we'll see the elephants Cersei wanted to see so damn bad, marching against her trying to put Dany on the throne for the Iron Bank!

Wonder how long a dragon would have taken to eat the elephant after roasting it.  The truth is I think another dragon has to die to make it seem a fairer fight when the war comes to Westeros and maybe Dany dead by then too from putting herself in a dangerous scenario.   Be interesting on the Arya wearing Jamie or Tyrions face to kill Cersei.


I hope Sanza dies, as I honestly not a fan even though they developed her and hardened her well ready for the position.  You see the chemistry with Gendry and Arya which is always fun like with Jon and Dany which in a way makes me think Sanza is more likely to survive as GOT doesn't like happy endings

one episode in and all buildup, peoples hurt feelings, people not wanting to work together doing it and poor unsullied all to die of hypothermia where not used to the cold of the north.   But overall nothing missed.

Had to avoid this thread for the longest time out of fear of spoilers. First episode was expected, just setting up the rest of the season.

Terribly looking forward to this Jon-Dany dynamic now though.
