loved the last episode now can’t wait for the queen to finish them off...

THEY GOT LUCKY!

battle was disappointing. I would've liked to see more of a shakeup. I think John Snow got off easily when The Night King raised the dead all around him, I mean c'mon... No one is surviving that...

As much as I love his character, he should've bit the dust. BUT, the ending was awesome.

Dubliner - maybe he rolled underneath a dumpster?

Great episode. From what I could make out. Was far too dark and blurry.

Time for the Clegane Bowl

Report Post Tip
We think Clegane Bowl will be this week or next?
Report Post Tip

Next, this is going to be a relatively boring set-up episode I believe.

Imagine if the hound had died though, and we never got Clegane bowl??

Report Post Tip
I don't believe the hound did die though won't know the death toll till next episode
Report Post Tip

I expect he's survived, all the A Star characters were pretty redundant throughout last weeks battle. They will be saving the more important deaths for the final few episodes.

Anyone else think Dany is going a bit mad? I think she's for the chop, she's losing likability fast. Though, that's never been an indicator on survival...

.8too much fighting in this for me

I think the last battle ruined a lot of characters imo. Jon was supposed to do something in the grand battle with the whitewalkers. Bran was also supposed to do something. Arya is suddenly so badass killing the NK, but everyone was expecting her to kill Cersei; if she also kills Cersei, it's too much. So many characters were around without a real purpose, just fighting the hordes of zombies without actually doing anything, they were just.. there.

Only Jorah, Hound and Beric made sense. Maybe also Bran, but I still don't like it that he did pretty much nothing. What's the point of knowing everything if you just do nothing?

I kind of thought Bran (Kid creeps me out) warged into Theon to fight off the undead guys, thats was why he said thank you theon? IDK. Episode was a solid miss for me.

Despite liking the episode (The Long Night) in general, I had a few problems with it... First, the entire point of this show up until now has been that these people are in-fighting when there was a bigger threat looming. Who cares about the petty Iron Throne BS when there was a huge threat out there. That big threat is now eliminated so I am less interested in the rest of the season & am afraid that the ending is going to suck so bad. What the hell happened to the vision Daenerys had of the throne room in an earlier season? It would have been nice to see them make it down to King's Landing and to be more of a threat in general. Winter is here but it isn't all that bad, actually.

I'm also very disappointed that the Night King turned out to have such simplistic motivations. They started to make it seem like the White Walkers had more to them than just your standard evil Tolkien-style bad guy but apparently changed their mind this season. I feel like the show-runners just gave up on trying to end that story arc properly.

What the hell happened to the prophecies regarding Azor Ahai/The Prince (or Princess) that was Promised? Are they going to bother explaining how Arya fits that role? If she actually is? Is her dagger Lightbringer? I doubt the show is going to bother answering these questions.

How is it a Wight can be trapped in a wooden box but skeletons that have been in the crypts for ages can easily bust out?

Jesus Christ, Sam sucks. Got Edd killed because you didn't want to go to the crypts with the others. Not everyone is a warrior, Sam. It's okay to just be a scholar, dude.

I really hope that George RR Martin ends up finishing the books because I'm sure that the end of the battle between fire & ice will be much more satisfying in the books.

Yeah, the lighting for the episode may have been there to set the mood, but what happened to the alleged escape tunnels under Winterfell too like were eluded to in the past, thing people would have made their way out or around from there instead of wait to die trapped by the wights in the crypt.   This seasons problem is compressing too much into 6 episodes when have moved ahead of the books.   No Lady Stoneheart etc which many fans wanted to see.  Not saying the show isn't incredible but trying to squeeze it into tv against Georges slow down on books could mean we see different things.

Tonight’s episode was ok, the three previous ones this season were definitely better.

Ayra wins the throne.

Evidence:

  • High valeryian is bad about pronouns.  The prophecy of the 'younger brother' might be younger sister.
  • The prophecy states she will be 'cast down' by someone younger and more beautiful than she who will take all that she holds dear - Cersei only cares about power.  And cast down sounds pretty violent to me.
  • Ned Stark once told Arya her sons would be princes and knights
  • Tonight's episodes showed Tyrion and Varys talking about needing a leader who was things - 1. A war hero (As Dany proclaimed, she is, she saved all mankind)  and 2.  Doesn't want to rule ("That's not me, it's not who I am")
  • Bonus points for talk of how northern blood on the throne would keep the north in the fold with the other kingdoms
  • If we view Arya and the principal character for the entire show, not Jon or Dany, the story is a massive hero's journey with her being young and infinitely weak along the way - growing and changing and learning skills that allowed her to return home changed and help her people... but never again be truly one of them as she was before.
  • Arguably Arya has blessings of two Gods now.  The Lord of Light backed her and the God of Death grants her his power to change faces.  I'm no expert on ASOIAF books but I bet if I go through and look at the old gods we might find a bit of Arya that all of them might like or aspects of Arya's character that is at least a nod to all of them.

I know it's not a sure thing, but they've certainly done a fine job of making it look possible.  And that Dany seems to be going mad (with all they tore away from her) and Jon's tendency to be a martyr (and die) I'm not at all gonna be shocked if all three obvious contenders for the throne end up dead and someone else lands on it.  Someone who neither wanted it, nor ever dreamed of being there.  If that's the case, it would be a bittersweet ending for it to be Arya who has to help the innocent victims (read all the people of westeros) rebuild in the wake of these power hungry madmen and stupidly prideful "honorable" people.
