Not sure what the Amd  is but it sounds so confusing to say the least 

AMD is the main competitor to Intel for CPU's. AMD stands for Advanced Micro Devices and have been making CPU's for a long time. The also bough ATI which was NVIDIA's main rival for graphics cards which has never been great to be honest.

Wow surprised by the power supply what you slipping in,  what's going to eat so much power, I never really moved above 750w even when running more than one graphics card or you just building so have a base for next time you upgrade?

I am looking down a far cheaper build personally 3950x with the wraith cooler, Corsair vengeance lpx 32gb 3200mhz, maybe the Strix 570 I motherboard or crosshair vii hero as some similarly priced now and maybe the XFX AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT RAW II or MSI GAMING X NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER.   The first can push 4k where the second struggles sometimes for 1440 but is a chunk of change difference.

Well I wanted an Asus Thor to match the rest of the build and figured may as well go with the 1.2k with the potential of the 3000 series hitting 500w. I currently have an 850w modular Corsair PSU. My current GPU is the Galactic Empire TitanXP so waiting to see what AMD bring out with GPU's before I decide what I want, most likely go for a Strix 3080 OC.

Well is a chunk of change but at least for a long time won't need to upgrade, or worry about not being able to play anything.   I spend too much time with videos like Linus Tech Tips looking at what's really worth the push for now, and what's can do on the smaller budgets.   The hope is if can get a few bargains what you pay on graphics, I will pay for most of my system on black Friday.

I have always been an intel man myself. AMD have some decent drivers, but for this I always will go name brand with Intel

INTEL vs AMD? Hard for me to say.

I've used both companies through laptops.

A Dell Inspiron with INTEL had a processor failure and only fixed with motherboard change.

Never had problems with AMD.

That's my personal experience.

Intel vs Amd, dont know shit about either tbh.

I think if I used more than a 15 year old computer I might get better experiences. Seems my computer bugs out after about 2 years of use no matter what I do. Once I make some money Ill have to give them a fair chance to see which I like.

AMD are offering superior CPUs  for gaming at the moment for sure. Plus the fact that a single motherboard with AMD has supported 3 releases of new CPUs they are way better value for money.

I used to be an intel person. But with my most recent PC build, I went with an amd system all around.

I have had 0 issues, and most definitely got my bang for what I spent. I would say at this point its all a preference to each person, AMD is putting out some quality equipment that can very easily stand toe to toe with the intel equivalent.

AMD for me, looking forward to their new generation of graphics cards as well.  Benchmarks are showing the mid range card is going to be comparable if not even better than the 3080

Halitosis I'd wait for independent reviews & benchmarks before buying an AMD GPU. Also depends what games you want to play and if they support ray tracing & how AMD handles ray tracing.

My new system is so I can play Watchdogs Legion at max settings 4k at least 100fps.

I will not switch to AMD. Intel always has been and still is the best at single core performance, which is really all that matters. multiple cores are nice for multitasking and if a program or game is actually optimized for multiple cores, but that's (still) uncommon.

I agree with aethersix, there's absolutely nothing wrong with AMD but for raw single core performance, Intel always wins. That's completely ignoring cost, though.

Whilst we only have AMD's numbers to go with at the moment, the Ryzen 9 5900x will beat the i9 10900k in single core performance as well as multi core.
