Huxley, at least spell my name right. Please.

Alessia is someone else.

Fair point. Do you have an answer to it?

Inamorta quietly stands up to make himself heard.

I'm going to have to agree with Mr. Huxley here. It should always, in my opinion at least, be the young civilian who contacts a family. Not the other way around. I contacted one family and wrote an extensive letter to my sponsor detailing what I had to offer to his family. He was impressed, and so he took me on. This is how my father told me to do it before I left the old country. Having spent a small amount of time here himself, he knew what I should do. I followed his instructions, and I couldn't be happier.

Incidentally, I also received a couple of letters similar to the ones Mr. Huxley received, and burned them later that night. I wanted to work my way into a family, not be sucked In before they knew me and only be known to them as "Member 34." I am a person, and I'd rather be treated like one than like a number.

“ I may be just a fresh face on these shores and my opinion means little but I feel the need to speak on this subject no the less. The problem with trying to approach somebody about joining your family is one of the hardest tasks it seem the we as a community in this thing of ours have made what should be a simple one a hard one. The reality is you can’t even walk up to somebody like me who is fresh of the boat lost on these streets without being labelled a “Whore” the problem I have with this is that being a sponsor means you have to be actively out there on the streets looking for new talent to bring into the fold”.

“There is a line however I mean just strait sending out an invite to me isn’t just “Whoreing” in my view an act such as that actually put both you and your family in danger because you have no idea who it is that you are allowing into the family. The other option like you said Inamorta is the Civilians themselves making themselves known to the families for some this works for other who have no bloodlines in this thing of ours they could be very lost at the world before them and have no idea what there next step is when they open there mail and see somebody is trying to communicate with them that might just actually get them to stick around for five minutes”.

“The way to solve this is relatively simple in this thing of ours we have a leadership structure set in place for a reason; they are the ones that make decision on problems like this and we as loyal soldiers have an obligation to listen to those order be they on Godfather level or passed on down thru the ranks of you respective family’s but for me having this debate out in the streets may very well have the desired affect that most people want to see a clear cut rule or policy within the families to once and for all put this age old debate to bet”.

“Thank you for you time”.

Jimmy watches the new mobsters stepping off the boat.. wandering onto the streets with barely any money, no friends and needing to learn the rules in our world.. Also he notices all the vultures, standing on the street corners attempting to hussle and bussle during these tough times

My view on recruitment is what I want my sponsors to also follow because as leaders we need to do our best to preserve our way of life while also maintaining on-going growth in business. The first impression is sometimes the only impression we get to give and to me, getting recruited into a mob family cannot be the same as signing up for grade school.. it just cant, as it is a slap in the face to our standards and principles that we have worked so hard for.

Does our world need to constantly evolve with the changing times, of course it does or we would all fall behind and sometimes when you are in a hurry to get to the future, sometimes you forget the building blocks that got you to where you are now.

I dont think it matters who you are, Don or Gangster.. you understand that every leader needs money, wants an army to protect their interests and people will do whatever is needed to increase their business for survival, I mean that is our job as leaders and sponsors but on the other end our job is also to continue running our day to day business the best we can, not cutting corners on the things that are very important.

The argument of invites, friendly helpful mobmails, approaching them or the other way around will be one we will always fight, as we have the option to do whatever we want in the sense.. the only thing holding people back is themselfs and like I said above, people will do whatever is needed to get to the top but I urge people to remember the image it gives when your flaunting your family, open for business like a barber shop.

We need new mobsters, we cant stop the practice of recruitment but we can do our best to educate our sponsors and be proactive as enforcing our wants, whatever they may be. Personally, I would want to know if one of my sponsors was talking cheap talk trying to get me members. Recruiting for me is one thing, but not taking the time to put effort in is another and to most people the amount of effort is different but most of us know the obvious wrongs.

It is a fine line, policed by those who want and need the members and the practice has changed over the years but everyone needs to remember: They are responsible for those who they work with.

At the end of the night if you have all the money and mobsters in the world but your business practice is tearing our ways down, is it really worth to you?

If so, go ahead and invite everyone you see but remember there are always bigger shadows out there and others do notice your actions, both good and bad but dont come crying when the wolf comes knocking on your door... because remember there is always someone willing to try harder than you and wanting your position if you are not doing your job.

Jimmy notices a young mobster wandering around Las Vegas, his home..Jimmy motions to one of his sponsors to go talk to the kid, buy him a drink and see what kind of business he is in and if he would fit the syndicate well or not.

"I'm not here to pass judgement on anyone or say their methods are wrong. People will recruit the way the want to, and the way they think will get the best results. Whether, in their opinion, best results are having a full crew of below average members, or having a half full crew of above average members, well that's just up to them too. Hence why some people will member whore and other wont."

Sal straightens his jacket and hat and sighs

"I, however, do not agree with member whoring, I do not allow it in my family and will not allow someone in the family without speaking to them about themselves and asking a fair few questions regarding various things. I have to make sure that they are a right fit for my family."

Sal takes a breath in before continuing

"That doesn't mean I'm going to go around shouting in the streets who is member whoring and who isn't though. As I stated earlier, it is that specific crews own choice, and the Godfather of the city that said crew resides in. We follow the orders of our Godfather, if they have ruled out member whoring, we respect it and we do not member whore. If they are fine with member whoring, then by all means that city should be allowed to go about their business without interruption. This theory of course doesn't work for all actions, but for a matter such as member whoring I think that it does."

Sal nods his head and smiles

"Well, there's my two cents on the subject, take it as you will"

I'm pretty much new here, and from my point of view it didn't feel like whoring at all.

There were mostly nice messages, and i felt really welcomed here - which happens not that often in my oppinion.

So if this "whoring" doesn't get too offensive or annoying it is a good to keep new players i think.

Report Post Tip

so what do you suggest? and btw thats disrespectful to publish this in the streets, especially the mail you received, that should never enter the streets!!

Report Post Tip

@huxley what do you suggest sponsors do to recruit?

Report Post Tip

I will be honest and my blood line has spoken at length regarding recruitment and "whoring" including long long long chats with the blood lines of godfathers and past greats within this thing of ours.

I don't give two shits what people do when someone arrives, what concerns me is after they join the family.

If someone mails you shit happens it can't be effectively governed however from the moment they recruit you they had best pay you some attention and ensure you are getting all the advice you need.

If someone sends you a mail and 50k to start up, he had best be contacting you and responding to you forth right and remaining in contact till you are settled. If he does this then it isn't whoring in my eyes.

Whoring is one thing and one thing only sending unrequested invites to join a family without first mailing you.
