How does this story end? Started by: JoeyBagaDonuts on Aug 30, '11 02:44

JoeyBagaDonuts walking down the street for awhile early one morning and there he saw it. It was the same book store that his father had taken to when he was young and he would buy his favorite comics, the kind where you would choose where to go next in the story.

Walking towards the store in hopes of purchasing one for old times sake he noticed that the shop had closed down. Feeling a bit enraged about the closing of his childhood memories as it were, Joey noticed that there was a nearby soap box on the corner of the street just outside the store.

"This is for anyone that would listen, anyone whom as a kid used to enjoy a good story and loved to pick their own ending to the story, here is a story of 'Young Joey'."

Story starts off something like this ...

Joey was a young lad fresh off the boat from Italy. He left the home country to explore new opportunities that he had heard some of his friends writing back home about. He landed in Ellis Island off the boat and moved to the tough streets of Chicago.

After finding himself a place Joey needed to find some gainful employment. Joey ran into a friend of his from the old country named Tony.

Tony was an older man who'd moved from Italy a long time ago to fulfill his dream of running a home cooked Italian restaurant and winery.

Joey didn't mind working for Tony at the restaurant because he made deliveries most of the time and didn't have to deal with the lousy customers that tipped cheap and didn't know the difference between pasta fagioli and minestrone.

One day while making a pick up for grapes from the warehouse downtown, Joey heard the unmistakable sound of gun shots ringing from the ally just outside the warehouse he was supposed to get the shipment from.

So then Joey ..... YOU DECIDE WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!

A) Joey starts up the car and leaves as fast he can to avoid the trouble in the alleyways.

B) Joey waits in the car to avoid getting caught up in the mess and wait for the heat to cool before checking things out then pick up the delivery

C) Joey runs quickly out of the car to see if his good friend Tom that he did business with wasn't hurt ... or worse dead.

Report Post Tip

Wow, Joey I really like this idea. Not something you see every day.

I like to run into danger blindly not knowing what will happen next, so my vote is for letter C!

Report Post Tip

Draven claps at this new found idea.

I have to say I feel compelled to answer B) Joey waits in the car to avoid getting caught up in the mess and wait for the heat to cool before checking things out then pick up the delivery.

Not saying that's what I would do... Draven whistles a bit But it seems a logical self perserving choice, but yet where you can still check on friend and get business done.

Report Post Tip

Remembering the Choose Your Own Adventure books he read as a kid, Klint thinks for a moment beofre announcing his choice.

I gotta agree with Sao- and my gut on this one. Option C.

Maybe you can a take a few of them out and lift their wallets if it comes down to it.

Report Post Tip

"Helping your fellow man or woman out is a nice idea, but putting your life at risk without knowing what exactly could be going on is a bad idea."

Simplicity pointed to the option B.

"I suggest, B. Seems to be the smartest and most logical move. You can help out your friend while not getting your head shot off."

Report Post Tip

I'm thinking B would be the best option. (In reality, someone is threatening me with a cane against my ankles so I'm voting out of fear)

Report Post Tip

Awnser B would be the smartest one but for myself i will choose option C. You never know if you might be able to help him out and save his life.

Report Post Tip

I would chose C) Joey runs quickly out of the car to see if his good friend Tom that he did business with wasn't hurt ... or worse dead.

Sweeney laying back on the bench while Joey here tells his story of "Young Joey" Sweeney wearing his black silk coat and blue tucked in tie because of the mood he was feeling today. He pulls out his Mnt Dew can and starts taking sips during the pauses of Joey's speech. When he was doen. Sweeney decides to listen to other men and womens answers. After a couple of them. Sweeney gets up walking slowly and wobblie to the mist of the croud.

Well if I was this "Young Joey" kid. I would stay in the car. This man has no expierence that we know of with a gun or any fighting skills. Just some kid doing some errands for his friend. And, if it was his friend who died. Well....that sucks. Sorry mate. But, anyways. He should stay in the car and pretend nothing happen and he'll find out in just a couple of minutes or so. Right?

Sweeney looks over to Joey.

I enjoy doing these. Keep them up and my face will be seen more around here.

Sweeney smiles and starts skipping to the distance.

~B~ and the story continues.

Joey then began to frantically reach around the floor board for his trusted side-arm that he brought along with him on trips into the city for protection.

It was after all a rough neighborhood and it wasn't exactly Joey's first time around the block, but to this day he'd never had to fire off his gun.

Joey decided to wait in the car for a couple minutes till the excitement was over and to make sure that the police weren't already nearby. He did care for his friend Tom's well being but he knew that whatever was going on it wasn't worth two dead bodies, especially if one of those was his.

After a few minutes passed and no cop sirens in the distance Joey decided it was time for him to enter the building.

Once he got to the side door he saw two large thugs sweeping up something he couldn't quite make out what but he knew that he'd never seen those two guys around before and they weren't dressed like warehouse employees.

Before he could get the door open he felt a hand on his shoulder. Joey slowly turned around and tried to conceal his weapon.

"Joey, what the hell you come to my warehouse with a gun like that for?"

"Tom!, it’s great to see you, how’s everything?"

Seeing that his friend Tom was okay he pocketed his gun and they shared a friendly hug and greeting.

"Here Joey, come around this way there’s a bit of a mess today in the warehouse, some boys got sloppy and spilled all over the floor. Your grapes are going to make the best wine I just know it, the best batch I've seen in 20 years and I tell you the truth." Tom said, as he walked with Joey to the other entrance.

"Thanks Tom I'll take it from here, I know you’re always busy and I need to get going back before it starts getting too late." Joey said not really wanting to stick around to find out the whole story about the "mess".

"Of course, hey I got a favor to ask you if you don't mind, I know it’s getting late but I need somebody to drop something off for me it’s on your route back to the restaurant and it won’t take more than a minute just drop this envelope off and here take this too."

Tom hands Joey a second thin envelope along with the very thick one addressed Lorenzo.

"It’s a little something for the effort, I would ask my driver but he’s already tied up so to speak. Just drop off the envelope with one of the guards up front tell him that Tom sends his thanks and tell them it’s for Lorenzo's eyes only, Capiche?"

What does Joey do next ?

A) Tells Tom thanks but he really needs to get back home, maybe some other time.

B) Asks Tom what exactly it is in the envelope he is about to deliver before he drives away.

C) Takes the money and tells Tom he'll take the job, but just this once.

Sao sits and listens intently to the story being told, once the choices are available again, he begins pondering his vote.

I guess I just happen to like the letter C. Letter C for the win this time!

Report Post Tip

I have to say C because if he turns his pal down then it might be taken as a sign of disrespect. If he knows too much about the envelope he could be killed is why I didn't pick B. Also he obviously really cares about his friend and trusts him because he went after him willing to kill for him, so if he says the job will be easy it must be. Right?

Report Post Tip

Draven ponders the story so far then excitedly screams out.

C as much as I dont' want to go with Sao- I must agree I want to see it.

~C~ and the story continues …

Joey reached out and took the envelopes from Tom and agreed to do this favor for him.

“Just get back on the main road for 25 miles and then take the exit on the right, follow that road for about two miles and you should see a pair of lampposts outside a dirt road in the woods, follow that road back and drive up to the gate, turn off the car and drop off this envelope for Lorenzo with one of the guards just make sure that they don’t open it. Don’t want those goombas getting their hands on this one screwing it all up.”

Joey got back into the truck with the crates loaded up in the back and he took a peek at the envelope of cash for him. With 1000 dollars in there he thought to himself that this wouldn’t be a bad job at all.

Joey headed off on the road and found the road with the lamp posts.

He started driving down that dirt road when he saw the house. It was a massive Victorian with gates around the whole estate. Giant Greek pillars in front and double pain windows all across the side of the house.

He pulled up to the gate and he saw several guards around the perimeter of the gate and the house itself.

This was something like a house he remembered his father had took him to while he was young once in the old country.

As he pulled up to the gates and shut off the car he noticed a young women shouting with one of the guards.

“Get your chubby grease ball fingers off me!”

He heard the women scream as he walked up to the gate with the letter.

“Who the hell are you, you the reason I gotta stay locked up in this hell all day long?”

She said to Joey as he approached the front gate.

“Shut those pretty little lips sweetheart before you get us all in trouble, no reason to get Lorenzo into a worse mood. I’ve already carried enough dead weight around here and I’d like to get back home to the family sometime before sunrise.”

The guard said as he reached into his pocket for a light and a cigar. He struck the match and light his cigar and held it up to Joey’s face so that he could get a better look at him.

“So … what you got there, or are you too dumb to speak?”

“I got a letter here from Tom; it’s for Lorenzo his eyes only. It’s important.”

Holding out the letter for the guard to take it but before either of them could stop her, the women grabbed the letter.

“A letter for Lorenzo huh, well I’m on my way to see him right now about this having to stay on the premises bullshit, you want to come in stranger or what?”

What does Joey do next?

A)     Yells “Bofongu, I told you that letter is important only Lorenzo is supposed to open it.”

B)      Says “No thanks, I think it’s time for me to leave, make sure that gets to Lorenzo unopened.”

C)      Says “Sure Baby doll, what’s your name?” and then escorts the young lady towards the house.

Report Post Tip

Well I choose A this time Yells "Bofongu, I told you that letter is important only Lorenzo is supposed to open it."

I suppose you're asking where the story ends?  In my opinion Here's Where The Story Ends;

people I know, places I go, make me feel tongue-tied
I can see how people look down, they're on the inside
here's where the story ends
people I see, weary of me showing my good side
I can see how people look down
I'm on the outside
here's where the story ends
ooh here's where the story ends

it's that little souvenir of a terrible year
which makes my eyes feel sore
oh I never should have said, the books that you read
were all I loved you for
it's that little souvenir of a terrible year
which makes me wonder why
and it's the memories of your shed that make me turn red
surprise, surprise, surprise

crazy I know, places I go
make me feel so tired
I can see how people look down
I'm on the outside
oh here's where the story ends
ooh here's where the story ends

it's that little souvenir of a terrible year
which makes my eyes feel sore
and who ever would've thought the books that you brought
were all I loved you for
oh the devil in me said, go down to the shed
I know where I belong
but the only thing I ever really wanted to say
was wrong, was wrong, was wrong

it's that little souvenir of a colourful year
which makes me smile inside
so I cynically, cynically say, the world is that way
surprise, surprise, surprise, surprise, surprise
here's where the story ends
ooh here's where the story ends

Joey steps down from the box for a second to speak with Estebano for a second.

As much as I appreciate reciting song lyrics perhaps you've missed the purpose for why we are gathered here.

I found this story book here and I've been recalling it for anyone who wants to hear it. Once I've come to the end of a section its put up to public vote which turn the story will take next.

I also wanted to thank everyone thats been participating your audience is very much appreciated.

A, I pick A, I hope A wins!

Duke stood in the back of the crowd. He listened to his good friend Joey speak his story. It was an amazing story, and the choices made it ever so tempting. Other than some random crazy shooting about something it was flawless!

"Yo Joey, Tell that lady how things are going to be! Tom trusted you to get the envolpe to Lorenzo, so it better make it their or its your ass. I choose letter A."

Duke nodded, opened his Dr. Pepper, and took a seat on the bench next to Sao-.
