I do not see anyone here attempting to discredit what the current LV crews have accomplished. Surviving this long in the Wild Wild West is an achievement alone. What I think everyone agrees on, is the manner in which the speech was given was ambiguous and ill-advised at the least. Bold, brave and honorable? Sure. But still, unneccessary and ill-advised. 

I'd also dare to question how much "protection" would be provided LV should they ruffle the wrong feathers. Like any other city in this country, once a threat is perceived, leaders should be expected to protect their own cities best interest. It's clear, as of now, LV does not threaten the existence of any other cities and should be left to themselves provided they keep to themselves. And that's good enough for me. Peace Love and Happiness baby.

But I wouldn't be telling the entire truth if I didn't say I think a few folks in this thread are being a little naive. Two expressions came to mind when browsing the LV members' replies:

and
