GAME "EVENT"? Mafias Best of 2025. Started by: Madoka on Dec 22, '25 15:33

Who: Jezabel

What: Glitter

Why: There's glitter everywhere, all the time. Last week I woke up with glitter in my mouth. There's glitter in my pocket lint. I still have glitter embedded in my fingerprints from when I wiped it off of my laptop. I can't escape, you can't escape. The glitter must be accepted, celebrated. Long live the Glitter. Sneezes violently

Who: TonyTheTailor

What: MVP

Why: It feels like recently game mechanics have been dominating the outside conversation space. I believe that regardless of any coding changes(cool or uncool) it would still be the Streets that make this game unique and special. I think there are a lot of different tastes and flavours when it comes to the Streets. Some like their deeply immersive Mafia RP, some like their Si’s and Georges. I think regardless of flavour(I quite like Tony’s), consistency and activity are their own paramount. With this in mind, I would like to nominate TonyTheTailor for the MVP award. Check him out. Threads / Posts: 26 / 148 . Out there day 3, still out there day 174. He probably does it because he enjoys it, but I think someone being out there consistently is very valuable to our way of life. He’s also done a decent a job at managing his districts job sponsorship coverage and I’m fairly certain I’ve seen him yapping in Lounge everyday that I’ve been alive. So much engagement. It it is for these reasons I am nominating TonyTheTailor for the MVP award.

I agree and Matt as well.

I would like to add Beluga to be an MVP. Definitely the voice of reason around here.

Who: Rico_Lansky

What: Best Admin Jail Ratter

Why: This guy clicked the RAT drug button so damn much that he got 420mins of admin jail time during Madoka's event. Nobody clicks a button faster than him and just the pure skill and determination it takes to land on exactly 420mins of jail time? Come on this guy needs a medal, or maybe he needs a chest to pin it on…I don’t know I'm not the judge here.

Best Metaphor

Who: UglyInbredGeorge
What: Best Metaphor
Why: "Consider this metaphor, Simon: You are a little German boy. Your belly is full of chocolate. You pat your belly and sing little German boy songs as you waddle up and down the street in your knee high socks. What's that noise? Who's that around the corner? It's an American soldier. He is liberating your town. Good luck, Simon. No more chocolate for you." source

Objectively there have been relatively few 'standout' characters and truly memorable moments during 2025. My personal preference is towards those people who bring something to the game as a whole by being more than just a name. This can be through an action or a thread, which generally involves doing something, which then grows exponentially from there as these are the most memorable and tend to make the greatest impact upon the experience as a whole. For me there have been a few worthy of acknowledgement, two of which I have quoted previously but will elaborate on further below:

TonyTheTailor has been brought to the fore the Russian gimmick and specifically the Gulag aspect of it. Not something I've seen done before and the widespread adoption of it and desire for others to join in and become part of the lore is something we always need.

UglyInbredGeorge championed the BG and HQ auditing business. It caused great amusement and very little harm. Nearly everyone enjoyed it until it was brought to an abrupt halt by killjoy Shane. Similarly to the Gulag, for a time, this was big news on the Streets and created something which multiple crews were involved in.

I feel that Tony is a solid shout for MVP as he has contributed regularly whilst running a crew, which is not an easy feat. I do feel however that the Best Street Posts of 2025 goes to someone else:

Who: QuackersFeatherbeak

What: Best Street Posts

Why: A tremendous Street presence, creating the best newspaper/radio show/ban list across nearly 100 issues. Each one gaining hundreds of views and multiple replies in a time where the game was being steered headfirst off a cliff in terms of engagement from the top. Recency bias can play a part in these things, but we should not forget that this man pretty much held the Streets aloft when whole cities couldn't muster up a single VIP poster.

The most memorable moment of 2025 is reserved for "Burgerhousing". This term was coined due to the unintentionally hilarious brent and his calamitous tenure as Godfather of Chicago. BuckBurgerhouse was his LHM who was then shot at by his leader, missed, demoted repeatedly and cast out in shame. This was recorded here: https://mafiareturns.com/comm/thread/2282035#343572712. But Burgerhousing became a phenomenon of its own with notable victims such as Otis and Ranger falling prey to the tactic, with often hilarious consequences. Can we recognise the best bad decision? I dunno but I want to and it is certainly not something I will forget.

Who: Cassiopeia
What: Most beloved slacker
Why: While she may not have played many hours this run, she remains one of Mafiareturns most beloved people. When she enters lounge you can bet that her adoring fans will flock from the shadows, increasing lounge activity, for the rare sighting of our mafia queen. But really, who doesn’t love Cassi?

Who: Kuku

What: Most unmotivated troll

Why: The guy has just lost his mojo.  The Streets are safe from his Eagle eye and razor sharp wit.  He's suffered ego death.  Does anyone care?

Triple T / TonytheTailor gets my vote for MVP, and is a player (I personally feel) has won 2025 on MR. Honourable mentions for many, many people I’ve carefully considered, including my own CL who (for similar reasons) is one of several worthy runners-up.

I came back to MR in summer 2024 after a 10 year hiatus. I didn’t know the lays of the land, but from then right up until as I’m typing this, I only ever wanted a bit of engagement with the community, to build a character and have fun clicky-clicking along the way. I believe last summer was a fairly similar time in which Tony parked his stolen Fiesta ST at these shores, so in my eyes, our experiences over the last 18 months have been somewhat parallel. Following the collapse of the former ‘regime’ and the shift to power that resides with the current user base of uppers, Tony has been a constant. He’s took the reigns himself as a CL, made the streets much more of an enjoyable place to read, inspiring others, managing the job board in his corner of the game with expertise and spearheading the whole comrade / CA concept. In the coffee shops he is omnipresent, appears to engage with, well, everybody, and seems like a generally all-round good guy. MR is a better place because of him, and he seems to me to have a stake in a lot of the wholly-positive direction the game is taking. I won’t kiss his arse too much - and again there are notable mentions for many, many others, Si and The Dude for starters, but for me he’s doing everything for the good of the community and not letting anything internal or external really sway him at all. This isn’t some fellow logistics experts underground clique either.

To counter-balance this, he has a shit accent and wears them daft hats, but we can’t all be perfect.

Triple T for MVP.

Are there results?

Report Post Tip

Am stuck debating should be results sometime this weekend.

Report Post Tip

Alright,

Ive deliberated on this and I have selected some winners,

This might be somewhat controversial and not include everyone who was nominated but I used as much merit in the decision as I could. I will go through my thoughts on each winner.  Including the ORIGINAL nominator, (1 person was nominated via pms)

Game Action of the Year:

Nomination By: MrKrabs

Winner: Katerina

My why: I am not giving this reward to reward or endorse any particular action taken, but ANYONE regardless of any side they may be on or may take should be able to appreciate that singular shooter kill count. It takes guts to go against the grain and it takes grit to keep your action going that long and aquire that much damage as a result.

The Players Favorite:

Nomination by: Interlude

Winner: TonyTheTailor

My why: Its hard to contend against AS many people who nominated him as they did. Additionally I can get behind this award because TTT puts forward a real effort into engaging the community as positivity as possible. He provides game suggestions when he has them, he has outstanding lounge activity and generally doesnt seem to legitimately beef with anyone. So this made an easy choice.

Term of the year:

Nomination by: LittleSi

Winner:  "Burgerhousing"

My why: Im sorry this whole time in main was just too funny. What a name...

Best RP "event":

Nomination by: Interlude
Winner: Natasha  for the Gulag.

My why: God this is such a stupid idea, and yet it wstuck, it involved so many people, it brings comedy, discussion and comradery to our world across all regions of the game. 1 little thread has brought so much impact to this thing of ours that this seemed a simple choice for a Streets/RP award for me.

Player of the year:

Nomination by: Shane_Stetson

Winner: TheDude aka Jeffrey_Lebowski

My why: This will likely be the most controversial, and the most bias from me but I stand behind it 100%. The 2 major events he ran this year were crazy from an effort and sheer dedication standpoint. Both his bowling event and his currently ongoing boxing event show sooooo much behind the scenes work and dedication to not only learn the needed tools but make them function in a fair complete and relatively bug free manner (I hear some judges did get drunk and powerhungry at one point.) Having run a dozen + events for this game seeing someone else willingly pick up the torch and carry all that weight on themselves is a source of inspiration and energy for me to continue forward with what I do and so I must reconize his efforts even if he wasnt the most nominated player.

Rewards for nominations and winning will go out ONCE every winner identifies themselves to me in DMs.  If I have not heard from you within the next 72 hours I will try my best to reward you if I cannot you will be head hunted by Izzy.

I would like to clear this up though. The idea for the current gulag was actually by accident and it was introduced by our comrade leader, TonyTheTailor. It has been a wonderful time involving many people across various cities.
