Respect for the Dead Started by: Curtis on Mar 14, '15 15:36

Sorry Barry clearly the light does not shine out of your arse I apologize

Well curtis. It was two la men fighting. And resulted in one la man dead.
The funeral would of been held in la, so really. Whats it got to do with the outside world?
You guys stroll into la to attend the funeral of a man you had not ties to you or anyone else for that matter. And get pissed off when someone acts badly at his funeral?
News flash, la is not your city. Maybe la doesnt do things the same way as ny?
How about you mind your own fucking business?
Stick to dictating in your own city and let others do as they see fit in theirs?
If you dont like how la operates, shut it down, or wind your neck in.
Asshole.

Funny how the disrespect (although not for the dead) has gone rampant in this thread. Sammy, this is an universal 'rule' or value, and it doesn't matter who finds it disrespectful and who doesn't. What matters is that Godfather Curtis holds us to these standards.

And I'm sure Barry has very fine lighting in his arse.

Are you trying to say, Bolton, that if I had a friend who went to set up in LA, and the friend died, that because they were in LA and I'm from Detroit, that I wouldn't be allowed to visit the funeral?

They pretty much shut down BlackBlack, a part of LA.

No, it does matter who finds it respectful and disrespectful.

A funeral is for the family of the deceased to pay their respects, say goodbye and come to terms. If someone comes into a funeral and does something that the family has absolutely no problem with, who the fuck are you to call it disrespectful?

The_Stig looks upward into the clear skies of Brooklyn, inhaling deeply the sweet aroma of home and smiles at the thought of what was, what is, and what always will be a way of life.

He lowers his gaze, looking deep into the eyes of honourable men and women……….

Respect, what a word eh?

It’s more than a rule, it’s a corner stone upon which our world stands. It’s right down there with loyalty, honour and family. Holding everything above it. Steadfast, solid, and never to be moved or swayed. The dead cannot enforce it, but they sure as hell all deserve it.

Should we have to remind people of such foundations?

Ok, so a green newcomer to our shores could be forgiven for getting their priorities confused with the weekly groceries, but a fucking leader?

Give me a break. I stand by all that has been said by my Godfather on the matter.

How about friends and former family? I think being a Godfather who actually organized this whole project is enough of a 'someone' to call it disrespectful and act upon it.

So the friends opinions matter more so than the family? Friends have no say in anything unless agreed upon by the family, plain and simple.
Report Post Tip

Friends have a say if they are in a position of power and feel like action needs to be taken. It's pretty apparent that in this case, they do have a say.

Report Post Tip
So, we've hit a point where others will decide if we've been disrespected and not ourselves or in this case our blood family? Alighty then, in that case, you're right.
Report Post Tip

Sammy, its not a personal thing. Its a societal standard. Across the board. If someone does that at someone's funeral, doesn't matter who died and who did the pissing. Its part of our code, just like any other.

Now, honestly, you are clearly bent out of shape about this so I suggest you go take some time out and cool down. I will chalk your own disrespect in this up to you being upset. I suggest you heed my advice.

We all come from different cultures and were raised in different fashions. If doing what was done was a sign of respect in someone's culture and the family of those who it was done too saw it as respect, what's the problem? Even though half the world saw it as disrespectful, it wasn't meant to be. Who are we to decide the true meaning of it when we don't come from the same culture?

It was stated it wasn't meant as disrespect and then the family came out and said they didn't view it as disrespect. I'm trying to figure things out. All I'm getting is well "we" saw it as disrespect, which is confusing when those involved didn't mean it or view it as disrespect.
Report Post Tip

Just because someone comes from a culture different to the one they arrive in doesn't mean that they don't have to follow the rules. What's done is done. It's a shame that action had to be taken, but it was. And its over.

Report Post Tip
But you see, to them they did follow the rules. Those involved saw it as respectful. So they were indeed showing respect at a funeral.
Report Post Tip

Prae sighs.

It seems that, no matter what we say, you'll stick to your guns. So there's no point trying to convince you otherwise, for better or worse.

Report Post Tip

Sammy, they won't realize where you are coming from if the masses think a certain way we all have to even if it involves you and not them you can think something done to you is perfectly fine but if they think it is wrong then that's the way it will be.

Report Post Tip

Just for the avoidance of doubt, if your culture finds shitting on the top of a casket in a funeral to be most respectful thing in the world, it'll still be absolutely wholly unacceptable here. Why? Because you're in church. So regardless of how much you "sugar coat the fuck out of it", this was not a respectful.

Report Post Tip
We're all set in our ways, that's evident. Opinions make the world go
Report Post Tip

Opinions can also make your world end. No matter how you truss this up sammy, it was disrespect from blackblack and it's disrespect from you, not only to the dead, but to your leader and city.
