What is the best band of all time and why..

I say Linkin Park. Because everyone knows theire songs and theyre all good.. they are all catchy and easy to sing a long to :P

I say Radiohead cause they're creative, original and melancholic.

Hanson. They were such an inspiration to me. My father still listens to them. By far the hottest chicks in music, if you only knew how many times Ive taken their centerfold to the bedroom :x

I gotta say The Beatles. I mean who honestly hasn't ever heard of them?

And during the 60s, they were idols. I believe they are still one of the highest grossing bands ever.

Linkin Park used to be a good borderline metal/rock band until they got all whiney. I agree, The Beatles own.

Half the bands here are absolutely nothing, and will not be rembered in about ten years. Talking about the best bands? That'll be the bands who've either:

1)Influenced countless other musicians or changed the face of music

2)Adapted their sound over many years, or even decades, to stay at the top

3)Sold lots of records. That's less important really.

For me, it's bands like The Beatles, The Kinks, The Beach Boys, The Small Faces, Abba, The Rolling Stones, Queen, Oasis, Blur, The Stone Roses, The Smiths, Patti Smith, The Sex Pistols...even the likes of U2!

I'll think of more later, but yeah.

Why not FlyingMonkey, but there's one band you mentioned that absolutely doesn't fit in your description (except for the records sells), and that's Oasis... on the other hand Radiohead would... ;)

All bands at the forefront of the British Music scene, and all bands which have claimed to be have been influenced in some sort of way by Oasis. Even if you don't like them, to claim they haven't changed the face of music is ridiculous.

When they came along in the early 90's, the scene was largely dominated by the baggies and dance, and Oasis forced their way in and did their own thing, and inspired a generation of people into wanting to play honest to god British Rock and Roll, and the ripples are still spreading today, even though they're knocking at 40 and acting like twats.

Radiohead are a fab band, along with Elbow; I often prefer their intricate, delicate and subtle style of music to the brashness of Oasis or Blur, but to claim they've had a bigger infuence and effect on music in general is folly in my opinion.

Mind, Im looking this from quite a critical standpoint. From a more personal point of view, everyone has their own favourite band; and everyone's right! :>

I agree for Kasabian, the influence is obvious, although they tend to be much more original than their 'masters'. Arctic Monkeys... Mmmmh... how exactly, cause I really can't see that.

Bands influenced by Radiohead? Oh, they're not very famous, but Coldplay or Muse? There are many other more minor bands (in popularity, not in quality) like Sigur Ros or The Flaming Lips... Keane, Clinic... I don't know, but their influence is huge!!

Not everyone FlyingMonkey, When someone says Linken Park as there favourite then they clearly have no opinion.

Now back to the topic, Radiohead are the greatest band ever end of. Other bands/artists closely followed are;

The smiths - One of the best Alternative Rock bands ever influenced so many people and bands.

Joy Division - Quite a low profiled Band but still have heavily influenced some of the greatest bands going today such as Interpol, Editors and even Thom York has admitted Joy Division have influenced some of his choices.

The Beatles -  If it wasn't for the beatles there would be no Oasis and without Oasis there would be no shite bands such as the Enemy, Monkeys, and others FlyingMonkey mentioned above.

other bands/Artists  that deserve a sly mention, Charlatans, Patti Smith, Sonic Youth.

I can't believe I didn't get Joy Division in there to be honest. Curtis should be a name that's up there with Newton for fuck's sake.

Linkin Park are great still. Seether & Godsmack & Nickelback. One band that stands out though is Foo Fighters in todays music. Dave is one of the most talented musicians out there.

Best band of all time? Most would say Beetles, but I wouldnt listen to the Beetles to save a kid in N.Korea. So Im going to have to say Nirvana muahaha! Afterall its what I grew up on.
