Opening Note from the Editor

Dear Readers,

This issue is going to be much, much briefer than our last three- and far more somber. The two recent wars that have ripped through our society resulted in the death of hundreds, including some of the highest ranking and most respected members of our thing. So I'm not going to be making flirtatious comments about peoples' profiles in this one. We still tried to include some other features, such as "Ask Kate" and "Kate's Corner", but don't expect a return to our normal irreverent tone until next week.

Our Top Story: Two Wars Leave Community Rebuilding

Both Kurgan and myself offered mutually confirming explanations on what kicked off a bloody conflict early Sunday morning. Whereas I normally summarize and recap discussions in the streets, in this case I feel like it's essential to hear the entire story.

Kurgan's account can be found HERE

My own account, which also contains an explanation of the peace treaty and some plans for the future of Detroit, can be found HERE

At this point the violence, seemingly, had ended. Chicago had offered peace and it was accepted, first in an agreement by Detroit and later in an agreement by New York.

Two days passed which included a takedown of Kairi and her family in Los Angeles. But a major war was ignited again when New York broke their peace agreement and attacked Chicago, and the subsequent war resulted in many casualties. In addition to the death of many revered members of Chicago and every potential threat in New York, a much smaller number of casualties were also reported during this time from other cities- including crewleader green from Las Vegas.

Now, we are faced with the task of rebuilding our society. It is this writer's hope that in the days to come leaders from all cities will gather to discuss how to set our world on a profitable, productive, and peaceful path forward.

A Special Note: The Three Pillars

On November 6th we lost the three acknowledged major pillars of our community in Godfather Chairmen Nakamura, RobOakheart, and ChristianGato.

Originally, I was planning some sort of extended memorial- but what could be more effective that many kind words already spoken at their funerals?

Here are the transcripts for the funerals of ChristianGato, RobOakheart, and Nakamura - in order of their passing. We should all be so lucky to receive such praise at the end of our journeys here.

Ask Kate

Dear Kate,

What do you do when your leader is a hypocrite?  Preaching false promises to lure you into their family then tossing you aside as if you were just another body to take up space for their organization.  When the leader doesn't communicate with you once you are invited into the family as an associate, FAILS to guide and mold you into reaching your full potential, goes through the motions of promotions, yet still has no time to converse with you, even when you initiate the conversation.  It seems to me as if they want to appear as a "good" leader to the outside world, but plain and simple....just a hypocrite of their own public words.

Feeling Outraged

Feeling Outraged,

Having a leader promise you the world to get you in the door then barely paying attention to you is a tough situation.

Here are my thoughts. Based on recent discussions in the streets, it seems like our community generally supports the ideas of associates moving around. Depending on the situation and individuals involved there may be some sort of financial compensation demanded by the person losing your services, but I feel like most leaders would be flexible with this in general, although that's not a guarantee. So I'd talk to your CL as soon as possible. It rarely makes any sort of sense for a crewleader to hold an associate against their will.

If you're Made? That's tougher. Most places have a "Blood In, Blood Out" policy that means the only way a Made Man leaves the family is in a casket, although there are a few rare exceptions. But hey, the free cities are always an option for these folks. If you're truly outraged and unhappy, why not strike out on your own and see if you can do better?

Good luck!

Kate's Corner: In Which She Stands On A Metaphorical Soapbox and Complains

In a fit of inspiration, I actually kind of already did this in a recent street speech, in which I propose what I consider a more effective alternative to traditional protection orders: a single, universal posting in the streets that would be continuously updated. I'd like to repeat that this was not my original idea; it was raised in the most recent meeting of leaders.

This did get some decent attention in the streets before the second war erupted and it was somewhat ignored, so I felt like it was appropriate to include it in this edition. I don't want to repeat myself, though: my argument is found HERE

KateLogan,

Thank you for continuing with this publication during what we all know is a tough time for those still standing. Everyone has lost people that they loved and now we must focus on re-building once again.

In my opinion, this news article is a highlight to these streets and I will give my full support in whatever you need to help maintain it. In these dark times, it's important to focus on the pockets of light that we see shining and ensure that they are kept alive and given whatever assistance they need in order to grow.

She sat there on the bench, across from the office of the Logan Review, a slight frown as she read about the recent tragedies.  It just happened one after another.  Surrounded by death, no matter where she turned.  Such great losses in leadership were devastating for all the cities.  Friends lost, loved ones, it felt impossible at times to overcome the grief she experienced.  Details continued on other pages of the issue regarding each individual leader as well as other things.

Cami turned her attention to the next page, scanning over the "Ask Kate" section.  She was intrigued to find out what lovelorn or troubled soul had written in to Signora Logan.  Her eyebrow arched in surprise as she read how leaders could possibly treat their members that way.  Camilla wasn't privy to the inner workings of families outside of her own, but this just seemed outrageous indeed.  She folded the newspaper neatly back then glanced up towards the office wondering if KateLogan was still in her office.  Strolling across the street, Camilla was thoughtful reflecting on what she had read.

Camilla entered the Logan Review, noticing a lady with her back towards her.

"Excuse me, would you tell me if Signora Logan was still here.  I would like to speak with her a moment please."

The lack of Kerouac in this publication is profoundly disturbing.

Dear Ms Logan,

I just wanted to write and say how much myself and the crew are enjoying your publications, for some here in the HQ they are a nice way to unwind at the end of a busy day and for others they enjoy reading about the important issues or events in the recent days from a neutral perspective. The dedication, time and effort you devote to publishing these is commendable and impressive - we all hope you continue for many a time to come. We do confess that once read and digested some do make paper airplanes with them but I am sure you would see this as an extension of the pleasure and enjoyment we get from reading your paper.

Best wishes

Tellurium

MikhailKomarov read the new publication his Boss had posted amongst the streets. Many of the other country's gangsters gave her praise for her brilliant way of words. Mikhail wanted to do the same.

What a great read Consigliere Kate. To echo what others said, looking forward to the next one and beyond.
