Ah, I have to digress for a moment to clarify what Mr. Samurai was trying to get across, Anselmo. You see, After I immigrated from France to Japan I took up some work for a small-time crime organization - which is where I met Afro. It's a bit different there, as we abided by a written code of honour which discussed various topics such as management, profit, war, stories of the past and more. One of these topics included attacks, where it was forbidden to attack someone again within a certain time period, hence - the attack timer. |

It is a aspect of like in Mafia.A rival crew shaking down a rival crews shop for money or ect.PPing someone above your rank is disrespectful however. If you are obeying the rules of the city why the fuss you know where you flew CHI is non-PP so don't PP there ect.You say you would be fuming ect good point as would I and its theft.Interesting point there too but stealing purses knocking over the post office torching bussiness's and shooting people is not theft or breaking "law"? |

i feel this should be montioned. in 4 of the 6 currently occupied cities you may only pickpocket if you get written consent or if you see a person marked PP friendly. in chicago, you don't. period. in vegas, its okay. in the unoccupied cities? who gives a crap. but taht shoudlsettle this. and no, you don't pickpocket a made (or a higher ranking made if your made yourself). period. |

Personally I could care less about 5k, however I believe highly in the value of respect. Its not about losing 5k its the fact that an associate dared reach for my pocket. That in my opinon is a sign of disrespect. That is the issue I have with pickpocketing. If you got your button then by all means reach for my pocket, if you can. |

If one can't spend a few seconds, yes it takes just a few seconds here in this place to bank his or her money then to my personal opinion he or she does not really care for his or her money. |

for most people the money isn't a concern, it's all about respect. plus, you can still knock someone on the head and steal their wallet - even if they aren't carrying anything. |

(sort of OOC) my biggest annoyance with the whole PP thing is that even if someone doesn't have "no pick pocketing" in their profile doesn't mean that they allow pick pocketing. i once had 5,000 stolen from me and the thief stated, "are we really going to fight over 5,000?" yes, i will. i work hard for my money, risking my neck and dodging police to get 5,000 and for someone to just take it is annoying and frustrating. so from here on out i say if u wish to pickpocket someone, make sure it clearly states "PPing Allowed," if there is nothing in his profile about pick pocketing, then just don't do it. |

Gaius had observed a conversation taking place in reference to pick pocketing and he decided to step in with his two cent for what it was worth. However, Gaius had learned long ago that proper research and thought must come before each and every appearance in public. His Godfather would not act kindly to him making his city look like a group of idiots.
I'm going to address a couple of points here, and then provide the lot of you with my personal point of view.
The fact that anything below a button man would reach into a button man or above pockets makes me think this world has become a group of cowards. Let's be frank here, would I allow a mere Wiseguy to take ANYTHING off me but orders? Fuck no, does that mean others will? Perhaps, what are they to do about it? Complain to their leaders who could care less?
I believe that flash fire has been the largest supporter of the point about not killing off an individual that violated a pick pocketing rule. Let me ask you something. A man steals from me today, and gets a fine that is a mere few hours of work. What's to stop that man from shooting at me in revenge? While it wouldn't take long to earn the type of money were talking about fining, if I was fined by ANYONE other than my Godfather I'm afraid I'd hold a grudge for the rest of my natural life, and the next war that happened I'd be hunting down that idiot to assist him with a fitting for a new pair of shoes.
An apology? What is this thing were in? Church School? Band Camp? Get fucking real, I can't think of a single 'offense' where I would accept an apology from an associate. I'd be more apt to shoot the bastard where he stands. There isn't a short supply of associates in this thing of ours, everyone wants a piece of the fast life, let's not forget that.
Another thing that tends to set my blood boiling is when an individual from the same city, or crew raises a grievance about another in his city and or crew pick pocketing him. These fucking associates today need to learn just what the fuck family and city loyalty mean. You don't go bothering your upper structure about something so fucking petty. They have far better things to worry about, like how to keep your ass alive.
I saw the opinion raised about 'we should bank our money'. Fuck that, why so the feds can take it away from me? Haul my ass off to jail for not paying taxes? What for? Why not just shoot the associate in the face for picking my pockets and be done with it?
Now let's take a step back for a minute. I don't believe any of us are Godfathers, or city heads here. Let's take a look at a few of the rules that are mentioned:
Godfather Serotonin wrote "Pick pocketing in St Louis is depending on one's personal preference. St Louis leaders do not intervene in pick pocket issues that do not involve their members."
A Don from Chicago wrote "Chicago is a non-PP friendly city. Any breaches of such rules will be dealt with by Chicago upper echelon. If you have, however, gained permission then this is seen as a transaction between the pickpocket and the pickpocket." Then another "Godfather Iota is not to be approached regarding minor events - i.e. pickpocket complaints."
And finally, my personal favorite. The Godfather from Philly wrote "There will be no specific rules for pick pocketing. Use common sense when approaching a PH member to pickpocket them and we will also not get involved in PP issues with members of other cities."
Now each and every city, has a rule on pick pocketing, some it's not allowed if the individual in question has a 'tattoo' others its free game. Why not selective fly to where you feel you will remain safe from pickpockets? If any of you feel that strongly about it...
Now let's take a look at the above three rules. Who the fuck are we to question Godfathers? Seriously... let's take a look amongst us. None, now let me raise another question. Do you trust your leader? Anyone that answers 'No' to this question will die shortly thereafter so we will pretend that everyone here said yes. Does your leader then trust His/her Godfather? Were once again going to pretend that the answer is yes. Then why are we sitting here discussing this? Wasting everyone's time? Now I'm not saying that perhaps it isn't a minor problem, but don't we all have something a bit more to worry about? Don't we all have money to make?
I can see that your all still standing around... Gaius pulled a cigarette from his pocket and struck a match against the wall before finishing his thought process.
I'm not saying that CERTAIN rules need to be in place, but I trust my Don and I trust my Godfather to make those decisions for me. Call me stupid or old fashioned, whichever you feel best.

This is a complete disrespect to anyone in a higher rank or position than you, You wouldn't pickpocket a CL would you? Then why would you try and PP their inner circle? PP is a realistic part of the game alright but there is a massive respect issue. It is a simple aspect they were chosen to be given the honour of the button and for that they should have some sort of respect given to them. Asking is most likely the best way to avoid any scenes, even if they are pissed off at you for asking at least you respected their rank and asked. IMO I reckon this is a minor problem that could turn into a HUGE scene, I personally choose not to stick my hands in someone else's pockets because I don't like their in mine, the rule don't do what you wouldn't like done to yourself applies here more then any other aspect of the game, actually I think this IS the only part of the game this rule applies to. |

I find myself unable to muster very much feeling beyond indifference when it comes to picking pockets. Do it, don't do it, I really couldn't care. The one thing that does amuse me is idiots running around with messages on show akin to "Pick my pockets and I'll shoot you". Providing the city we're in permits it, either explicitly or through having no policies in place, I'll generally PP those people. There are very few who actually have the power to enforce a message like that and most of them probably wouldn't take that approach. |

Chris wanders down the street doing his usual job of listening to the inane ramblings of yet more wannabe gangsters, most of whom will just end up being the next dead jabroni listed in the pages of the Barble... pausing for a second he wonders what's keeping the next issue of the Garble, afterall SpaceMountain's pet Hamster, ironically called Hoopi, was running out of lining for its cage. Chris wonders for a moment if the Hamster was named after the RHM or was it the other way around... after all, Hoopi would do anything to get into the Boss's good books. |

I think that anybody who has enough time on there hands to give a huge long speach about pickpocketing clearly has enough time to run into a bank every now and then. Also clearly if people are so concerned about being pickpocketed for $5000, they clearly aren't making a lot of money. Certainly if I was getting pickpocketed every 5 seconds and losing hundreds of thousands every day I would be anonyed, but this simply isnt the case. Pickpocketing is a fairly rare thing in these streets so Im not sure why everyone is so against it. It is indeed just a lil fun and sport to be had by all.
Also most of these people speaking against pickpocketing shouldn't be worried... Im sure all they have in their pockets are tissues anyway. |

Sorry it took me awhile to find my way back here. I have been busy with my mate Mark and as such been unable to come round these parts.
It amuses me quite highly that people like StackBundles are turning round and only focusing upon the money aspect of this whole debate. You see. I thought i'd give my speech a bit of meat and bone. Offer two reasons why pickpocketing isn't my most favourite thing in the world. It wasn't the be all and end all. I could go to the bank. But I shouldn't have to.
I agree with absolutely everyone that said $5000 isn't alot of money to members of a family hierachy. It isn't life changing for a person such as me. I'd like to keep hold of it but alas, people seem to want to take it.
The world was built upon respect. Respect of your elders. You don't say a word out of line to them anywhere. If you do you will generally find yourself dead upon the floor. However, if you force your hands into their unsuspecting pockets and steal $5000 it's just a bit of a laugh. That I cannot agree with. It is teaching young mobsters that they can steal from Made members of the family and nothing will happen to them because it's a bit of fun. It is a major sign of disrespect for me as a person. My pockets are mine. Fuck. You cannot even speak to me if I don't want you to but you can steal my dough? Please.
The point was raised that cities are goverened by the Godfather and their rules are how you should plan your life. Don't go here but you can go there. Fair point. I cannot really argue with you.
Two final points. Gauis. Cracking response. Agreed with pretty much all of it. We are not Godfathers and it is not up to us. I just thought i'd raise the point and see if we could have a bit of respect brought in where we don't need Godfathers holding our hands to know Wise Guys stealking from Made Men is wrong. If they ask you not do it then just don't!
Chris_Vaughn. Your reply nearly made me very violently ill. What are you actually trying to make yourself in to? I closed my ears after 5 seconds.. Jabroni. |

I can smell what the rock is cooking on this one... pickpocketing is petty bullshit in my opinion and best left for the dregs of society. If you come after my pockets I'll probably just call my lawyer and let him handle it (my lawyer has a side hobby of breaking kneecaps).
or.. maybe I'll remember you during the next war and blow your face off. Anyway, have at it. |
