| Have players become this incapable? | Started by: FearlessJ on Sep 02, '17 12:10 |

Has the drop off been so significant that the Gods are intervening? How is this game so complicated that you need help from the Gods to overthrow a régime? Then again I guess society seems to be shifting in the same direction with these shitty millennials crying about stuff but never doing anything about it. What a sad state kids! Your thoughts???? |

Did people ask for the gods to intervene? Or are the gods pissed at the current regime? I feel DD's coming. |

| Platoon that is honestly my concern. That seems to be the direction it's all headed. We're a disagreement/argument away from DDing IMO. | |

| Provide a legitimate reason for anyone on top to be DDed. What have any of them individually or collectively done to be discharged? No salt, just geniuene interest in your statement. | |

| Ragnarok, I'm with you here. I legitimately can't think of a reason for a DD but with all the changes occurring, when will it stop? They all seem geared towards the elimination of the current régime. When will the current régime confront the gods in this matter? What will happen when a conversation occurs. I just feel for financial reasons the Gods might flush out the current régime. Intentions are becoming more evident | |

Oh. Now I feel like an idiot. Yea. Of course. Has that been done to any past leadership as a whole? |

Funny enough, some of the ones that are crying out and are up in arms about how the Gods are intervening, how it is so unfair and how close people are to getting Dishonourably Discharged were the ones that were cheering when half of 303303 were Dishonourably Discharged and thus basically weakened them to such a point that they were able to be overthrown much much easily. Food for thought really. |

Awww what's da matter fearless? Shitting our pants that no-one likes us any more are we? If squishy wanted to DD the lot of you he would have done it already. Instead he is trying to implement fair and reasonable changes that slightly level out the playing field for everyone and you're acting like he's on a one man mission to fuck you all over. Irony at it's finest. The fact that you're coming out here complaining about something like this just because it isn't going all the regime's own way is quite frankly depressing to see. Even more so when you consider the bullshit abuse we are subjected to when we have the audacity to complain about anything. |

| Thanks for confirming my original question Insidious. Players are indeed too incapable. And this thread literally does not apply to me as I am nobody. I have absolutely no power whatsoever. | |

At risk of being big headed Im going to assume you are referring to me despite not using my name and on that basis i'll have you know that bar talking shit and take a couple of potshots I've done fek all to try and prove I have any capability. You're right though, well except at least that one group that had to be forcibly removed with mass DD's. |

Assuming the changes remain in place when we are all dead, I don't have a problem with them. We'll just roll with whatever is thrown our way until either Squishy decides we've won or someone kills us. |

The short answer is, this game in its current state isn't designed to handle regimes like this. The "purpose" of this game (if it has one) isn't to have a bunch of individuals completely unrelated within the game's RP from each city band together against their own leaders. That's not how the Mafia works and that's never been how I've taught new players how to play. The players don't have some cardinal responsibility to the game's welfare. Similarly, the game isn't designed to have players at the top behaving that way. Having the leadership of every major city united against their own subordinates is extremely problematic. And every few months/years/whatever, a group rolls in that can take advantage of that. And even though we like to think so, the leaders also don't have some cardinal responsibility to the game's welfare. Push that along six months and you have the game's current state. It's not that anyone "needs help from the Gods," it's that the game has no built-in mechanisms to make regimes like this even difficult to maintain. There's no danger. No pressure. And now the developers are scrambling to fix that with features that seem to further stratify a top vs. bottom conflict, when instead that will likely embolden the regime in its purge-y pursuits. The features that would actually solve the problem without magnifying the conflict between the top and bottom would be the ones that make inter-city regimes impossible, or at least difficult, to maintain. Requiring other cities to be filled instead of stacking up crews, make distance heavily affect stats, and offer substantial boosts to players in their home cities. In the absence of a bg rework that would really make top vs. bottom conflict feasible, you need something that allows players to operate without having the top 15 guns breathing down their neck. |
