That's exactly the thing mate, you're not in Vegas and don't see it from our perspective. With the old rules someone could have been held from Made, gotten Don/GF points, VWP, money for IWP, come over and instantly have undone all the work we've done thus far. Though it might be a disadvantage for the rest of you, it's a stepping stone towards stopping the bloodshed we've seen recently, and finally a tilt in our favor.

Until a Godfather emerges in the Las Vegas area, the Godfather Council holds sway over Vegas. The rules were set this way so that eventually, the most cunning and guile leader would figure out the recipe for becoming the Godfather. Until that day happens, these are the rules of Vegas. Once a Godfather is defined, he or she will hold a position on the Council the same as the rest of us and have the liberty of actually defining his or her own rules for their city.

You hit the nail on the head. All the other cities utilize the demotion feature to protect their city. Meaning, the demotion is to protect the city from outside forces. The GF Council strictly forbids outside forces from attacking LV (without provocation), so the necessity to BG-demote is null. The only threats to Las Vegas are within the city of Las Vegas.

As to the ridiculous notion that the GF Council is deliberately trying to keep Las Vegas weak; that's preposterous. How powerful do you think you are that you deem yourself a threat to the GF Council? As if, if it weren't for this address, Las Vegas would become too powerful? That's idiotic. The city can hardly keep CLs alive for longer than a week, I can't imagine anyone there needs to be "restricted", so they are easier to kill later.

Get your head out of your ass, you aren't as important as you think you are. While this Las Vegas Experiment has been turned into a form of spectator sport, that doesn't mean everyone cares.

A quick touch on the notion that this holds LV back... it does, but only temporarily. Remember... when LV gets a GF, the council will no longer rule it so the "winning team" will be able to BG up as much as they want.

Personally, I think it's a decent step forward. Especially the rule that anyone going to Vegas cannot be demoted unless it's just to the rank that they can join their chosen leader's LV family.

Although I agree these new rules will put LV at somewhat of a disadvantage having to purchase their BGs at full retail, I also agree with Hound.  This is a privilege, not a right to move and set up in LV.   Bottom line is if you don't want to work hard and over come this disadvantage then the city of sin might not be for you.   Hey, no one said it would be easy, and I say this with a heavy heart as I have lost many friends over the last few weeks to this experiment.

someone can still join lv get iwp and then 11 days later set up as iwp cl when the original rules were no ewp+

why not just say "no setting up hq in lv unless you are vwp or lower at time of purchase" and leave it at that

I think it's great the GF council came out an clarified the rules (albeit after the persons in question became a non-issue, self-regulated by vilgilante justice in the city).

Hopefully this stops the 'what I think the council meant was...' speculation which was causing people to lose faith in the hope that the GF would be the little guy out hustlin and grindin their way to the top in spite of the skilled competitors, instead of the juggernaught with the cadillac and gold-plated 24-inch spinner rims buying his way to the top (Can't blame him tho, he played with the wording and exposed a rule that was open to interpretation, pretty crafty, imo.)
