An interesting turn of events for sure. A lot of anger and long time unresolved issues.
One thing I did find interesting the value of the life that Detroit deem appropriate. $12 million for the life of someone who hadn't even obtained there button seems a massively excessive amount. Even accepting half that as they did on this occassion. It sets a benchmark for anyone dealing with Detroit going forwards. |

Underdog... just because someone hadn't received their button yet doesn't mean they hadn't been invested it. Quinten has made it VERY clear that money had already been invested in his guy, so damn right he should want that back. I'm not sure where some people are coming from here, if someone shot a member of ILB and had the nerve to come ask me for an apology (unless said member's son/daughter went all whiny) then I would reply with a bullet to their face too. That you can put mortgage on. ghostofmafiareturns... the whaaaaaaaaaambulance is on it's way you bitter, bitter person. |

Can you 100% guarantee that? Far be it from me to question a man with a bold suit, but as much as you are a Crewleader, I take my orders from those who call The Loop home. It's entirely possible, and maybe even probable, that those in charge in my neighbourhood would agree with your assessment and 'punish' those caught taking advantage of the unsponsored. It is also not impossible, though, for the powers that be in Chicago not to force the issue; which would put you in the unenviable position of either breaking your guarantee or taking an unauthorised shot. This is all hypothetical though, I'd much rather shoot the out-of-towners because at least I know there's zero risk of my gun exploding in my face. |

Considering the correspondence between Quinten and Chicago and other cities before the war Cantona, I would say yes he can pretty much 100% guarantee that. If, hypothetically of course... you shot one of these people, you would effectively be putting your entire district on a direct collision course with Detroit. I can't speak for the bosses of your district but I'm happy to stick my neck out and say they are also going to tell you to abide by the protection order and not cause conflict. Why would they not agree with Quinten's protection order? Searching through the diaries of old, I cannot see ONE instance where a district or family has gone against the wishes of a protection order. So although your bosses may not have explicitly told you, you can safely assume this is the case. Certainly if any member of ILB doesn't abide by Quinten's wishes will be punished. |

I am not going to come out here and argue because apparently doing that gets you killed for defending your own and not seeing where the problem is in how somebody feels so let me just say one thing real quick. |

I can remember a time where a protection order was not followed. Regardless, your point still stands. We can call that time "the exception that confirms the rule" since the times protection orders are respected outnumber the other(s) by such a margin. |

Naturally I'm not privvy to any closed door meetings and conversations that have taken place, are taking place or indeed will take place; but from perspective of an 'outsider', for want of a better term, I'm just calling things as I see them. It may well have been 'guaranteed' before the war that Chicago would go along with any protection order but, again from a relative outsider's perspective, it doesn't look that way simply because if an agreement were made between the upper echelons of Chicago Detroit/Philly a natural thing to do would have been to inform Chicago explicitly of protection order immediately - something which didn't happen. Would it be reasonable to believe that Chicago would go along with a protection order regardless of whether any prior discourse take place? Of course not but Veronica, god rest her soul, clearly felt her complaint was reasonable enough and that wasn't really the case. Ultimately, the most apt question you posed to me was "Why would they not agree with Quinten's protection order?". There's absolutely no reason why they wouldn't, but that doesn't make it a dead cert and yet Quinten has still come out and made a guarantee, a pretty ballsy move in my opinion! To Quentin; please don't take this as a criticism - it is anything but. I have always had a huge respect for Leaders who will come out and go balls to the wall, and that's exactly what you've done here; not just in terms of the war itself but in the fact that you have come to the Streets and set out your stall in stating your position unequivocally. No half measures or fence sitting - this is what being bold should be all about. |

Wait, Cantona... you question the man's statement and then you congratulate him for that same statement?? Sounds a bit confusing to me. |

Apologies for rambling on like an insane old Frenchman but this is one point I forgot to address. My family has been around these shores long enough that family diaries record of times when 'protection orders' didn't exist in any form. Luckily, my bloodline has been fairly blessed in its time in our thing and has spent a fairly large portion of its existence in an inner circle of some description; if not bold or slanty. The disobedience of protection orders isn't something that is publicly declared in the streets. It's something that is whispered in the back room of a coffeeshop. My forebears have recorded numerous instances (both as the man giving the order; and as the subordinate receiving it) of protection orders being quietly disobeyed. Ultimately, taking care of number 1 is the first order of business and if you know the benefit gained by you-and-yours outweighs the punishment that can be dealt by 'the other side' then you will always engage in that activity. This sort of practice certainly happens too often for it to be considered 'the exception', or at least it did last time my family were regulars around these parts. |

Apologies for rambling on yet again, but I hadn't seen this statement from Aemon. I don't know if everything must be in contrasting shades of black and white, my friend, but things are not so for me. I questioned the statement because it was a pretty damn ballsy on two fronts for a Leader to "100% guarantee" the deaths of anyone who disobeyed him. First of all, at the time of his statement, my own district's upper structure and leadership hadn't made it's position clear. Secondly, he needed assistance from Philadelphia with his war on New York. Those were my reasons for questioning him. My reasons for respecting him and congratulating him on that back of that same statement are that Quinten has displayed balls and, more than that, character. There are fucking multitudes of empty suits now. The recent occupants were fantastic examples of this, so content in being sheep that their City rules simply stated 'same as the other district'. Quinten has demonstrated with his words and his actions that he is not one of these Leaders; he is a man of principle and backbone - is that not something he should be congratulated on? |

Honestly all my BS joking aside, I am not sure I would really point the blame at Quinten. I would first say I would make sure that this protection list was indeed followed out by other CL's. |

Lets not twist words or put statements in people's mouths. Quinten did not guarantee nobody would die. He is not God, there is no elixir of life and this is not a children's fairy tale. He guaranteed only that those responsible would be held accountable for their actions. |
