Respect for the Dead Started by: Curtis on Mar 14, '15 15:36

Curtis walked into the central downtown plaza of Los Angeles to address the crowd.

"It amazes me that this situation could ever arise. So unexpected was it that it never even occurred to me to make mention of it in any rules I laid out for this project. In all the generations my line has ever walked this land, there have been a few, ever present rules. So clearly known by all that they are usually unspoken. No regime, no point of view, no crews or leaders, no matter how out there, have ever broken these. They were very few and very simple, one of the primary ones has always been, respect the dead. No matter what! Even if the dead were terrible, low life vermin who broke ever code in the book. A person's funeral has always been regarded as sacred.

Despite this being known and respected by everyone I have ever encountered and everyone any of my ancestors has ever encountered, here we stand, looking at this exact situation. I am as surprised as I am saddened. As I defined the parameters of this project I felt it was my job to take responsibility for this situation and do what I could to rectify this oversight. As much as it stuns me to have to actually say this, I will do it as clearly as I can now."

He took a swig from his flask and returned it to his jacket then tuned to two of his guards behind him and nodded. They in turn nodded to two more guards on the roof of the building behind them and unfurled a large banner which they went about anchoring in place. It read in large clear wording:

Respect The Dead!

Pissing on graves will not be tolerated!

Anyone found disrespecting the fallen, causing a disturbance or upsetting the bereaved at a funeral will meet their own end.

Curtis turned back to the crowd.

"I am hanging this banner here in Los Angeles as I am certain such a sign would be completely unnecessary in any other city. As I am one of the people responsible for starting this project, I am aware I must help enforce it's governance. Once more, the age old tradition of respecting a fallen mobster's funeral will be upheld here!"

Allowing a moment for that point to sink in, he then goes on to address the specific situation in hand.

"Something else that needs to be made clear here is this; BlackBlack did absolutely nothing else wrong! His actions and reactions in his time as a leader in Los Angeles were all perfectly above board and legal. He was attacked, he reacted, he eliminated his opposition. All of which he deserves credit for. Even if he had chosen to be the aggressor and attack first and kill everyone in the city, that would have been his prerogative and perfectly within the laws that define the city. The one and only thing that has brought about his demise is the disrespect shown in funerals. this for me comes under the category of something that has happened in LA that has affected the outer community.

I should also say, I liked the way he handled the attacks on him and feel every element of his work in his time warranted applause. I am sad that this had to happen but we have rules and those rules need to be respected."

So you killed him and then brought the rule into effect.
So he had not broken this specific rule untill after he was dead, you punished him for a rule you had not yet made?
That makes perfect sence.
All respect the mighty and brainy, most perfect and devine curtis. Host of hosts. Lord of lords. Godfather of all godfathers.
not to mention quite a prick also.

Bolton,

In all the generations my line has ever walked this land, there have been a few, ever present rules. So clearly known by all that they are usually unspoken. No regime, no point of view, no crews or leaders, no matter how out there, have ever broken these. They were very few and very simple, one of the primary ones has always been, respect the dead. No matter what!

It has always been a rule.

If they couldn't understand that disrespecting the dead is an offence, then they're a bit stupid really. Fact is, you're a civilian complaining about things you're not even part of.

On the contrary, my ancestors have walked these shores for many years and one of the first things they were taught, according to their journals, was the sacred nature of funerals. It's about a Basic level of respect. If BlackBlack didn't possess that, then in my book he wasn't fit to lead, in LA nor anywhere else.

As for kissing Curtis' arse, he's a very good looking chap, granted. But he's just not my type.

And what?
Report Post Tip
Is there going to be a protection order for the few guys BlackBlack had working with him?
Report Post Tip

Respect should be a common since rule. There really shouldn't have been a need to mention it, it should have been a no brainer.

That is something that as far as I know should be a lesson learned on day 1. Although it is quite unfortunate because I was looking forward to seeing how blackblack ruled L.A. after yesterday's events.

Respect at a funeral has always been a way if this life. In my strong opinion grave robs are morbid and just as disrespectful.

Precisely one of the reasons only low level associates like me would grave rob Isabella.

Comrade Vladimir walks up and, after listening to the bickering following Curtis' announcement, he decides to voice his opinion...

Respect has always been held as a virtue and has been voiced as necessary as long as my line has been on these shores. Even when my first ancestry came ashore, one of the first thing that was voiced was respect during a funeral, friend or foe. Regardless of whether or not you agree with BlackBlack's decisions, or Curtis' decisions... the fact remains that respect is something we all hold dear in our world. At the end of the day, no matter how you feel about Curtis' action, he is right about respect of the dead.

Regardless of whether or not you want to classify it as a rule, disrespect of a persons grave comes with risks that are and always have been well known. If you piss on a grave, be prepared to face consequences. No one, and I mean no one gains respect from anyone by desecrating a grave.

I respect, agree with, and stand behind Curtis' opinion on the matter, and if my experience in this world is correct, I would wager that the majority of other people do to.

Vlad nods at the crowd, lifts a cigarette to his lips and lights it in one swift motion. He exits the square and heads back to his HQ to continue his work for the day...

If you call that ass kissing, you're pretty delusional.

Well, this is complete bullshit. Don't say they can run it how they want inside of the guidelines laid out if they still have to adhere to every fucking thing else. It was made clear there would be no outside interference unless those outside of the city were attacked.

So what other rules are gonna be added after someone in LA is killed by someone outside of it? Why the fuck do we put rules on things when we clearly can't follow our own? An unspoken rule, isn't a fucking rule...

Jump on the high and fucking mighty train all you want, an ACTUAL rule was broken in favor of some "unspoken" bullshit.
Report Post Tip

The rules were put down by someone who does not need to keep them as in do as I say dont do as I do, as with all the previous comp Cities this always happens its nothing new and we learnt nothing new here.

Marijuana hears the roaring crowd's opinion. He nods his head.

I got to say, as the majority of us said here. I'd have to agree what has been said. Without respect for the dead, how can you have respect for the living? I think respect for the dead should be the first lesson on these shores. Once we can accept, just the concept 'Respect', that we can truly move on.

Marijuana takes a hit from the recent joint he's rolled.

Surely, disrespecting the dead is one of the worst crimes morality wise, If you do not like the person then leave them be and be happy in silence.
Report Post Tip

Depends who you are if people care about disrespecting your grave and if it works for the person calling them out for it, The dead cant care because they are............dead

Report Post Tip

Sammy, Norman et al. I thought it be obvious that you wouldn't be allowed to do whatever you wanted in LA because this is still the Mafia and certain things will not be tolerated regardless of where you are. This isn't bullshit, it is basic common sense. Sorry to disappoint you if you thought otherwise.

Barry

I clearly stated that the person was above answering to the rules as they are the ones that made them, as in the Mafia the boss makes the rules and chooses if he breaks them I summed it up with the well known phrase "do as I say not what I do"

But I thank you for the input

Report Post Tip

I believe Barry is right here though, surely there are some 'unspoken' laws which should never be broken, if the reasoning is "the dead cannot care because they are dead" then why do it in the first place...
