Resets!

Mugging was an option when I started, but most crewleaders didn't allow that. So we had some secret agreements between players and we mugged each other for fun!

Also I remember some people getting married in the streets!

And... something that never changes, many people complaining to the admins. That has been since ever! I remember we had no Godfather and people were speculating that it was the admins fault because it was impossible to have the XP to rank Godfather. That, until Anita got Godfather... :)

But the most fun was at the resets, and those speed rounds.

I'd say i'm a year off being in the decade club been playing hard for 9 years since 2006 which is funny because i'm only 21 now :D

We were all in Year 8 (Not idea what grade that is in US) and we were looking for mafia browser games because i'd just started watching the sopranos and was obsessed with everything mafia when we stumbled across this in IT class we'd get detention if we were caught playing but that's ok because we played it during our detention.

these are the things i remember some MR related some personal

- Curimbulous Peredicus (Greatest Regime to ever exist)

- RebusDupeoUlricMusic - (My first ever crew leader)

- SIngwhenyourwinning - I just remember him dying and seeing people comment in his funeral asking if he was still singing.

- Oliver_Mctavish/Marrieta - The first ever Godfather after the reset and i don't think anyone could argue that she deserved it, i'd say the strongest crew i have ever witnessed she had a coolhead and left the dirtywork down to JohnnyAxe her RHM who was as badass and ruthless as they came.

- Johnny "Carebare" Axe - Talking of JohnnyAxe if you looked in the urban dictionary for the definition of stone i'm sure it would just be a picture of JohnnyAxe he was the ChuckNorris of MR a man so ruthless and coldhearted we joked would wack his own mother for Godfather (some say he did just that) he was so coldhearted and mean we made a joke saying he had a caring flamboyant side hidden deep beneath that exoskeleton of wrath and somebody came up with a little backstory about him watching carebare's and his middle name being carebare for those that remember him he was a BOSS with a capitol B.

- Prince of Cheese - The man to finally kill JohnnyAxe i don't know how he did it but this guy must have had a kriptonite bullets because he found a way and although he was CP this guy must of been rogue because he was a tyrant and a half i remember being 13 and being told that if someone in a city spawned a JB only people from that city could JB because he didn't want people sponging, not a very popular guy at the time but i think being as mature as i am now i would of understood and appreciated his views alot more.

- JohnnyReese - No MR throwback can be complete without JohnnyReese and his infamous glitch in which he somehow took out PrinceOfCheese and CP single-handedly.

- JohnnyReese's glitch - I don't remember knowing too much about the glitch but i know it fucked CP over big and they were all raging over IRC about it i was a mere Goomba at the time so i didn't pay too much attention i was just happy POC was dead.

- Sprozza - What a guy

- That guy who was notorious for joining crews and loaning money before dying mysteriously and taking it with him to the afterworld, i forgot his name but what a bastard he was he would join a crew be given RHM for whatever fuccking reason i have no idea because he did it so often the same shit join a crew empty the bank and then do one. (vintage mafia returns)

- Scandia and the honorable organisation - This guy was only made when he had his crew but man there was something about this guy that everyone just respected and everytime i mention the honorable organisation it's just met with appreciation.

- The cult of Cthulhu with Elena De Luca (Alessia) the RHM now this guy was fantastic i was lucky enough to be part of this guys crew and i remember the night he died i was having a sleep over round my friends getting high on crisps and fizzy pop ready to pull an all nighter when all of a sudden i'm on the xbox (original halo 2 custom maps) and my mate turns to me and is like Cthulhu is dead.

To say i shit a hamster would be an understatement so many question who what where when why?

Turns out it was wackback death a common thing in those days.....

I remember everyone talking about his resurrection and return for months and for some reason maybe being 12 i half expected it to happen.

- wackbackdeath - this fucker was like ebola back in the day it claimed the life of so many people it wasn't a case of if it was a case of when which always got me asking if CL's knew the risk why when they had over 300 kills were they still IA racing? or killing low members just get your H/S to do it.

- Hitsquads - Man being a part of this was like being made this shit was the stuff of legends a portion of the crew that had 10 kills or more was put in the hitsquad which 10 kills may sound small but back then was quite alot considering there were no durdens or spawning a contract every kill you got you earned by IA hunting a deathly experience meaning you stayed awake half the night making a list and then spending the other half trying to kill the people on that list using the good old Whack/backspace tactic.

- No Java - I think alot of people forget this was a thing back then we didn't have dropdown boxes and had to click each option individually for example if you wanted to petty you would have to click on Profit then it would come onto a new screen with 3 more options which was Petty, Drugs, Mug after that you would have to click on petty then go to another page which you could then select which petty and then do it.

- Alessia - my personal favorite MR player of all time opinions are divided but nobody can deny she deserves the utmost respect for her accomplishments and dedication, not the best person to trust and a pretty shady character at times but man could she lead a crew and boy did you know when she was in power a true icon of the golden age and somebody i had the pleasure of working with on several occasions (About 20) although always lead to my death aha worth it.

- Gaara - remember this guy ? the greatest british ever had his own tavern ye olde bugger ye (not the name but i knew it had olde englishe) he was so english it was unreal but a brilliant man.

- Sal Giaquinto - Everyone had to remember this guy mainly because in about 6 years it was the only fucking name he ever had lmao, this guy represented a true mafia soldier he had all the attributes you could possibly look for in a soldato he had amazing RP was always active knew when to be friendly and when to lay the smackdown, as far as i know he never become a CL but boy did anyone deserve it if it wasnt old Sal a true patriot of MR and a fine man.

- Being 12 years old and having to pretend you were older or risk embarrassment - This was a personal thing for me but something that needed to be brought up nonetheless me and my friends were all 12 when we first started and everyone else was like 17+ so we would have to pretend to be older and lie about our age's so we could get into families but then we would struggle trying to keep our emotions and frustrations hidden when things didn't go our way.

- Staying after school to use the computers because i didn't have internet

- DeathKnight - Alot of you remember him for being a Godfather and an admin however i remember him as one of my best friends IRL we went to the same school together since we were like 7 and it was i who introduced him to this world and whilst he had the maturity and composure to become a godfather at the age of 14 i did not and found myself floundering the lower ranks.

- Autogun - I bet few remember this little fucker aha at one point everyone who turned gangster got a gun automatically that's right no 75 petties etc it was just create an account log in the next day and fire away.

- The era of Rourke - anyone else remember that time when 75% of the server was called Rourke ? damn it seems like only yesterday but it was 7 years ago.

This was all i could think of at this moment in time if i missed anyone out let me know there was so much that growing up with this community i got to experience the best and the worst MR had to offer but through all it was fucking awesome and i wouldn't change it for anything.

- Premier don't know if he still plays but he was huge back in the day probably the best hitter of his generation 

Thanks i practically grew up with Mafia Returns i remember my parents banning me from it because of how mad i got whenever i would die aha and i will at some point go through all the old posts and find the stuff my characters posted and show you how terrible my grammar was back then.

I can't believe it's been so long i mean i remember it like it was yesterday and the world domination plans we had.

Four 12year olds plotting to overtake MR and it almost happened DeathKnight got a crew but the other two gave up and i was just too much of a hot head.

Dying sucks, but it's only that bad when you don't get get a shot off before you die. All that work for nothing. :o

That IS as old as it gets, even older than me.

FYI: Sims was a crewleader who successfully imposed a tax on all visitors to his city.  You did not pay up, you got dedended, end of story.

He also was our local celebrity, in the fact that he was a radio talk show host of popular channel in a major city in the US of A.

That's what made this game stand out for me the dead thing every other mafia game was about stealing their weapons every 10 mins whereas MR dead is dead.

When a CL dies they are not wounded they are dead and it's just like wow he's dead

I remember our own IzzyCreamcheese being the first mobster to ever reach 'Boss' rank... minimum times for ranking were a lot different when I first laid eyes on these shores, I do not recall the exact min times (they were changed some time around the first ever V-day) but we're talking 30+ days just for Wise Guy.

With the min times being different, mobsters of ranked Earner or above could buy a HQ. This lead to a lot more 'rogues', leaders were kept on their toes at all times which in turn gave us some fantastic mobsters who could actually lead.

I remember SamTheAmericanEagle and 4 other people (there were 5 cities then) winning V-day and all being promoted to Don and given a city each at a time when there had never been a Don and STAE subsequently shooting each of them to be left as the only Don in a world full of Thugs and Gangsters. The first V-day wasn't a totally separate entity, whoever won... took over the place. Shuki was that guy for a long, long time.
