Cafe Colombian Detroit Started by: Alessia on Jan 10, '20 06:08

LadyHustle made her way over to Cafe Colombian to check out Big Moe.  He was a very good friend of her Moms and she liked him a lot.  He was so cool and very funny.  He made her laugh all the time.  She would laugh when her Mom use to call him a hoe.

Man, the café was decorated nicely.  Moe really had a nice place here.  She walked in, asked the security guard she saw if Big Moe was around.  She signaled her to hold on and commenced to talk on his walkie-talkie.  A few seconds later Moe came walking towards her.  He hugged her so long she thought he was never going to let her go.  She saw it in his eyes he was thinking of her mother.

We went into his office, talked and laughed with each other a long time.   After a while he went in the top drawer of his desk, pulled out what looked like a bank book.  He said “Mai this is for you to enjoy and do exactly what you wish”.   It’s for the LadyHustle in you.

It was a saving account bank book in her name with an enormous amount of money deposited in it. She was dumbfounded and didn’t know what to say.  Tears came to both of their eyes.  She just thanked Moe over and over again.  He asked if she had any idea what she would do with the money and she told him she was going to open up a hat shop first.  She always wished she could open one.   Moe told her he had to take her to the bank and finalize everything, which a friend at the bank had opened the account for him for him but Mai had to sign the proper paperwork.

Moe told her to come on they would take care of that right now.  They made their way to the bank.

Lorenzo boarded the car with Joey and Sal. Sal "Where to boss Boss?"

He said towards to Cafe Colombian as it has been sometime and he had to get some Cafe stuff sorted down there. He was hoping to catch BigMoe there as he had to discuss the stuff about the Coke business and how things were heading up down in Detroit as he wanted to make things smoother across all the cities plus open up new spots also with more guys.

Joey stopped the car infront of the Cafe and parked right there, the guard looked at them and nodded and let them in immediately. Much to his surprise Moe was sitting at the counter looking at some records.

Lorenzo taps him on the back "Ahh just the man I was looking for. It feels like sometimes god just listens to my requests and grants me it. I wish he did the same with money and long life also". They both had a laugh and got down to business.

"Right Moe, I hope things are smoother in Philly now from my recent visits ehh...Hows the lads doing there? I hope they gave you a breather and got themselves involved better huh"?

"Yeah Apollyon, its actually going really smooth and can't complain. They picked up the mantle from the get go and are disciplined and on time every single day. The lad did end up killing one guy on his 2nd day on the job and when I looked into it, it made sense for the move and we had it disposed off at the Pier as we always do". He gave a wink.

"Thats really good to hear Moe. Well let's do the same for the Detroit setup too. Ill line up a few more new lads here who are new to the states, so they are not related to anyone or any family in any way. All these guys worked for my parents back in the day and are loyal to the point".

"Thats really good new Lorenzo. I didn't realise you'd bring things up so quick. Well whats teh wait, give them lads a ring and ask them to meet me here and Id appreciate if you can be here for the first meet to."

"Sure, not a trouble. Ill get them here tomorrow same time? If that works for you?"

"Yup, sounds good and please if possible get me someone who is good with hand items rather than just guns. I want some noise free settlements if you get what i mean?"

"Offcourse, haha! Right then, business aside, lets get some drinks"/

BigMoe had already ordered through some Cafe's for him and the lads. They sat down and just had a good ol chat about life and mucked around

Cassette wasn't fond of mornings. Especially early mornings. However duty called. There was a shipment coming in at the docks that he needed to intercept. With a little time to spare, he made his way over to a coffee shop to get a little pick-me-up. Mornings were better with coffee.

"Americano with heavy cream." Cassette requested softly before letting out a big yawn.

The barista carried out his order, moving mechanically then giving him his coffee along with the total. Cassette paid the amount owed then sat at an empty booth to enjoy his cup of joy. There was a comforting silence that filled the room. Cassette utilized the moment to think of his next move for the task ahead.

Maybe he could pull it off without a hitch. Such hope lifted his spirit a bit about his morning and the coffee made it all the more positive.

Walking around and up and about, they ended up infront of the Cafe Colombian shop. Apollyon was hoping to meet BigMoe and see if he was around.

As he walked in he heard a big shout from behind the counter "Hey Apollyon, come over down here"

BigMoe was smiling with a big glass in his hand. Lorenzo and Joey walked over and sat down on the counter after greeting. "How is it going my friend? Hope business has been treating you well"

"Haha, that you know she never does Lorenzo. We gotta make sure she is in line, if not she can go awry anytime". They both had a good laugh and talked about the coke business and how things were going on. Lorenzo assured Moe that he will finish setting up as he had somethings to still knock out on the T&Cs.

They ordered 4 cafes for the go and waited for the order while enjoying the ambience around

BigMoe personally handed Lorenzo all the coffees and wished them a good night. Joey took the coffees and walked out with Lorenzo and Sal and Kev were waiting in the car. They handed them the cups and Lorenzo sat in the front and they went off to finish the collections for the night and possibly maybe go to a Park for a hangout or a night club in the city.

He wasn't sure, he'd decide on how or where the night streets took him.

Skad had a long day. He had done so much in a day compared to what he normally does on an average day. It was a bloody day for him and god only knows how much effort he had to put in to get things done without any trouble or another soul finding out. He moved into his new apartment in the Undercity Complex. Had everything setup and spoke to Joey and Sal to be on the streets for lookouts.

He unpacked his stuff and changed into a more leisure outfit and made his way to the streets. He needed something to drink to keep him going...A whiskey or alcohol wasn't going to do the job. He had heard about this Colombian Cafe that had some exquisite coffee they sell.

He walked down there to free his legs a bit and stretch up the body..."Getting used to the car a lot" he thought to himself.

The security guard let him pass immediately without any questions and he went straight to the counter and ordered himself a 3 shot Double Espresso.

Even Skad wasn't sure why he needed that much caffeine, but maybe he had more stuff to do.

The lady came back with his cafe and meanwhile he lighted up a cigarette...He stood on the counter and took a big gulp of the espresso and released a big breath of air...He felt a bit relaxed and just looked around and seeing what was happening in the place. It was a busy coffee shop and he hadn't been here before. There was business that could be done maybe as he saw important people coming in and going out from the back end.

He took his coffee and made his way out to the streets...

During a quick trip to Detroit - Gnoch had sent him there to deliver a telegram to a very strange man, a message he said could not be delivered over the phone - Colt was finally free of his obligations and with some free time until his flight back. Strolling through the city streets, Colt came across a place that caught his attention: Cafe Colombian. Without thinking twice, he entered.

Upon entering the venue, Colt nodded in satisfaction. The smell he'd smelled outside intensified even more inside, a strong, pleasant smell of coffee. The place looked refined, so Colt checked his wallet before looking for an empty table to sit. A young waiter - much younger than him -came to take his order. After a quick look at the menu, Colt decided for a "Juan Valdez".

It wasn't long before the waiter brought his coffee. Colt lit a cigarette and drank the coffee, slowly, taking his time. The coffee was really good. Tasty. And the atmosphere of the place was also very pleasant. Colt was enjoying himself.

After what felt like 30 minutes - he had long since drunk his coffee, had just been watching the scene go by - Colt finally got up, paid his bill, and walked out onto the streets of Detroit. He still had some time to explore the city before his flight.

Sal got a call to meet with an old family friend at the Colombian Cafe.  He arrived Popeye and Apples sat in the car.  Sammy walked in and ordered coffee and sat at a table.  Sal walked in five minutes later and ordered a coffee and sat at another table and started reading the newspaper that had been left behind.   Sal drank his coffee slowly and watched the door and window across from him.  Sal sat there for forty-five minutes and then signaled to Sammy and then Sal walked out followed by Sammy.

Alina drove down Broadway Avenue to Cafe Colombian Detroit.  Big Moe had asked her to stop by, he needed to talk with her. Moe was almost like a father to Alina.  She remembers when he first sat her down to explain the extracurricular activates he was involved in.  Of course she already knew.

When she stepped out the car it was hot as hell.  The continuous heat was killing the Detroit area.  So many people were inside the café, escaping the heat and enjoying Moe’s Cholados Colombianos.  They just couldn’t resist the frozen dessert on a day like today.  She ordered herself one then made her way to Moe’s office.

Moe explained to her how things had changed in the last twenty years.  He had lost so many good people because of the conflicts in the streets. There was a new sheriff in town.  He said he knows of him but doesn’t really know him.  That word on the streets were they were pretty good people but he didn’t start trying to gain the rapport and trust of new contacts. He said he would continue to secure the product from Colombia, but was stepping down from distribution.  He trusted Salvatore-Lucchese and going to talk to him about taking over distribution or maybe he could suggest one of his guys.  His investments in the airlines, the cafés and his restaurant were very lucrative and legit businesses and it was time for him to chill and enjoy life without the other headaches and hassles.

Alina understood Moe completely and was glad he was getting out of distribution.   He didn’t need those burdens anymore.  She lifted of glass of Cholados Colombiano,  “cheers “.

Rain made her way over the Cafe Colombian Detroit.  When she walked in the place looked a lot different then she remembered it.  Well it had been quite a few years since she had been there.  She sat down at a booth and ordered a Koffee Kult – Huila Coffee.

She thought to herself maybe this was a bad idea.  She remembered Big Moe and she wanted to get a supply for Buster so being pretty new to Detroit she thought she would check out Big Moe.

When the waitress bought her coffee back she was hesitant but finally asked the waitress if Big Moe was around.  The waitress laughed a little and told her that Big Moe comes in and out but really wasn’t running the place any more.  She told Rain her name was Rose and if she needed anything she could hook her up.   Rain thought it was best that maybe she come in once in a while, get a good feel for Rose before she approached her about scoring anything.  Buster would just have to wait.

She left a note for Rose to give to Big Moe if he came in.  She wrote her name, telephone number and who she was kin to.

Skad kept walking around and still wasn't able to find any Motel or Hotel's. It was a long walk, but he was surely enjoying it. He saw some of the business district areas and the red light areas. Mafioso's busy running/setting up new businesses. He aspired to setup his own business one day, but that was still sometime away.

He asked a nearby guy standing near a lamp post if he had any idea. The gentleman looked up and looked at Skad for a moment and asked him to get out of the district main area if he wanted to find something reasonable to stay for.

Skad didn't quite get what he meant, but he thanked him for the advice and kept walking. He could see a lot of crowd and people going in and out of the place. He looked up and it was Cafe Colombian, he surely needed a break after all that hours of walking around and no luck in finding a hotel.

He stepped in and ordered a Cholados Colombianos and a Ham and Cheese Sandwich. He sat down and ate his sandwich while he looked around and observed the area/mafioso's. He lit up his cigarette and read the newspaper and picked up his drink and off he went into the day light.

Tina in dire need for a coffee, managed to come across this quaint little coffee shop. It was rather just a coincidence that she stumbled onto this place, being that she wasn't in a part of town that she had been before. Why she was out this way, well lets just call it family business. Regardless, here she was, ass crack of dawn and in the need for a bit of a pick me up.

The little place was quite busy, the hum of chatter between the patrons was rather soothing to the ears. The line though, that was a bit of a bummer as it stretched almost to the front door. The good thing with it though, it was moving fairly quickly. Wasn't really hard to order a coffee from the counter, which is what most seemed to be doing. The staff seemed to be churning out the fresh brews just as fast... in a matter of what seemed to be just a few moments, Tina found herself right up at the counter.

"Morning, what can I get ya?" The lady behind the register spoke up.

Hesitating for just a moment, just enough time to look at the menu situated behind the woman. Why she didn't look at it prior to being faced with this question... let's just chalk that up to being too early for the brain to be functioning properly.

"Uh... Just a regular coffee for me, please. Dark roast if you have it, with just a dash of cream." Reaching into her pocket, Tina pulled out a bit of cash, handing it over to the woman. She didn't know if it was enough or if it was too much. The whole monetary thing in the US was a tad different than back home, was something that she was still getting used to.

The woman pulled out what she needed and extended her hand to give the rest back, was a gesture that Tina waved off.

"Keep it!"

The woman smiled, turning about to quickly make the cup of coffee.

"Oh can you make that to go please..."

The nodded as she was turned about, doing her bit of magic... turning about a few seconds later, fresh cup of coffee in her hand, passing it across the counter.

"Here you go, dark roast with a dash of cream. Be careful, it is rather hot."

With a smile, Tina took it from her grasp. She could feel the warmth radiating from the outside of the cup. Now she wasn't sure how good this coffe was going to be but if anything else, her hands were going to be rather warm for the next few moments.

Skad was knocked out from that meal he had at the hotel and went straight into bed. He had a good decent sleep, but had an alarm setup for him (In his head). It was past 11pm and he was feeling like he could use a cup of coffee and something to eat. He got ready and made his way onto the streets. Booked a cab and finally he knew his first destination he wanted to be at.

"The Cafe Colombian please sir," he said to the driver politely. Driver, worker, Boss, Mafioso, Politician - everyone deserved respect and no man/woman was bigger or smaller than the other he believed. Always gave respect to everyone when he had contact or a conversation.

The driver was quick to get to the Cafe, as it was almost close to midnight and the roads weren't busy at all. He dropped him off and Skad paid him and tipped him an extra dollar and sent him his way. Skad walked in and waited at the cashier for a moment, the waitress recognised him and asked "The usual sir from yesterday"?

Skad smiled and said "Yes, my good lady. Surprised you remember from all the customers that come and go daily"

She laughed and said "Yes sir, becomes a daily routine and always good to remember faces and she smirked"

Skad sat down and pulled up the newspaper and started going through...A few mins later his Sandwich and Coffee arrived.

Sal walked in waiting to meet the manager or the owner.  He was hoping to get some information and see if he could be of help moving the product like in the old days.  He wanted to earn and he wanted to build some contacts and keep his plans moving.  He sat there for hours drinking cup after cup of coffee and still no one that had authority entered the joint.  He used the restroom several times but even with those short breaks the manager would have stepped out of the office at least once or twice.

Sal returned to the cafe to wait and see the manager or someone running the operation.  He had been up state and lost his contacts and getting started was rough when you can be seen with old friends connect because the probation officer might send him back up state for violating his parole agreement.  Sal ordered another cup of coffee and sat a table looking at the managers door and the front door.  yet still no one came and he was getting a bit tried and needed to walk around he had other things he needed to do.  He had been waiting so far over three hours.  Then he asked the lady behind the counter was the owner available she replied no but gave the number to his daughter Koco.  He was told she handles all business complaints and new contacts.  Sal nodded and walked away.

She wandered into the shop, the smell of coffee making her smile.  It was one of her many addictions.  Sure she could have coffee at her own shop, but she wanted to check out the local competition.  She walks up to the counter and looked over the menu.

"Can I get a cup of the Koffe Kult?"

She looked at the menu again, realizing she was a little hungry.

"And one of those donuts."  She points to one in the display case.

TM was on a layover from a casual business trip out east, bad weather forcing the aircraft down why in Detroit he wasnt too sure, but what the fuck did he know about air travel he was just a simple passenger. With time to kill he ventured out into the streets of the city merely taking a look at its sights and what its shops and what not have to offer hearing about a coffee place from a few local citizens who just happened to be walking by. The opportunity immediately making him think to himself.

Cono, I could go for a pick me up, only coke I have was from the deal. Lesson one again , don't get high on your own supply. Okay coffee it is.

Using his expert skills of detection, which in reality was just wandering around until he got lucky. Finds himself at the door of Cafe Columbian, his need for a little boost almost distracting him from the last part of the name Columbian. This changed his attitude about entering the place, he had just stood there frozen remembering something distant. Faintly hearing sounds from the past. brought back to reality by a patient customer waiting behind him.

"Excuse me, your blocking the entrance are you going in?"

Wha? Wha you talking?

"The Cafe you going in?"

Go in? FUCK NO... I dont need to deal with no Columbians today...

TM steps aside from the door, the customer so puzzled by his behavior not entering the establishment either but standing there as he continues along his way. TM now thinking and hoping there was another location nearby that could tend to his needs at the moment, again he looked at the case of coke he was carrying with him...Muttering

Lesson One.

Sal walked into the Cafe Colombian looking for Roxie but she wasn't to be found.  Sal took a seat and ordered a cup of coffee an watched the people coming and going in a rush to get coffee before going into work.  Sal was early and he wasn't in a rush.   He finished his coffee and as the shop emptied from the rush he went into the managers office to look over the books to see the shipment that came in he was looking for three specific shipments and the dates that came in and then he went to check the inventory.

Sal walked with the manager and found what he was looking for everything was correct and he realized that the war in the motor city was costing them more cash then imagined, the street dealers refused to work the streets for fear of getting shot.  They weren't picking up the product and the shit was piling up.  The rest of the country was making the money but that was covering the product shipped and the cost of the product sitting here.

As Roxie and @Salvatore_Lucchese drove to the Café there was a sense of normalcy on the streets. Tensions had escalated in the city to the point where war seemed inevitable.   When they walked into the Café it was filled with customers on with their daily lives.

Apache and MeyerLansky were already in the office with Big Moe.  Rose bought a fresh pot of coffee and a tray of sandwiches, Moe told us to help ourselves.

Just like on the flight over with Sal, we talked about how bad war is for business.  Moe explained he lost a few good people and would take time to replace them with someone he trusted.  Of course, who would control the streets had to be determined and might bring even more bloodshed.

Big Moe had his elite clientele and didn’t infringe on anyone.  Other suppliers had to recognize that the ongoing violence was detrimental to their financial interests and that they needed to find a way to coexist peacefully.

For now, we decided to just store the product at the Hangar, take care of our current customers, and slowly establish new ones.
