"The Cheddar" steps out into the busy street, on either side you see the other leaders, flanked by captains Well, well, well... Ahem, cough **Suddenly the crowd turns as the Don of New York begins to address them** Ladies, Gentlemen, It's been a busy few weeks, we've seen wars, rogues, auths, policies and even mortal appearances from our gods (Chris I don't know why you let Squishy out of his cage, Chris Achbar). We have a chance now to glean something of a stable society, a profitable business world from what was once a place of continuous turbulence. In view of this the leaders have been discussing some new plans over the last few days. Admittedly the discussion was somewhat promoted by the thoughts of Squishy but chat is just that. As implementers we bear the burden and the glory and detail must be carefully considered. We have now come to a conclusion and it's time to put into practice a referencing system. Whilst many will groan and many will moan, I don't really give a shit. It is time to force respect upon your personal growth. With the removal of profit acquisition timelines and the increased sales of balaclavas we feel this is an apt way to guarantee a stable and honourable business environment. For all intensive purposes from this point forward if you are a wise guy considering a further promotion you will need to guarantee 3 references. These references are not to be random or frivolous as if you fuck up, your referees will follow you in a suitable punishment. Whilst I didn't want to define each and every punishment here I think some definition will be helpful so as to avoid generalisation and over subjectivity. Made man or above goes rogue - 3 references die Made man or above shoots unjustifiably - All references demoted to gangster/ Made man or above is disrespectful in his oratory environments - All references punished in same was as said made man or above Now, the more devious ones amongst you might be thinking, fuck it I'll go rogue, get 3 of my friends to sit at gangster and no one gives a crap. Eh eeeeeeeeerrrrrr. Your 3 references must be composed of 2 mafioso of at least earner rank and 1 of made man or above. As for your above made man, I personally will not be refereeing any of my family as I see it as irresponsible for a leader to engage in such dangerous matters and this new system should be proving to me not from me. However, other leaders may decide not to follow my lead, that is their prerogative but if they live by sword they face the possibility of dying by the sword. Revolutionary eh? Administrative headache...hmm, a little but we will be employing a full time records keeper who will centrally maintain all records for reference by each leader at any time. There are naturally other scenarios out there and the leadership team will define these as and when we encounter them. Your references will be checked before your promotion is finalised. Wise guy without 3 people willing to vouch for you? Well you probably haven't worked hard enough to network and develop your relationships. Do we care? No. You need to make this part of your personal development plans. That's all really, I imagine some of you will test us on this policy early doors and as we enforce I expect most others to fall into line. Retrospective promotions will not be affected at this time. Feel free to voice your views below but do not mistake your view for a block on this policy. From this point on it is officially in place. Lots of love, POC, Cab, Limoncello, Ant and Ellis. |

| The cliche is actually "for all intents and purposes," not "all intensive purposes." | |

It's actually clich not cliche, but nevermind eh? Thanks for giving your thoughts on a revolutionary, groundbreadking decision...Oh wait. Interesting move Don, and indeed all the leaders. I will be interested to see a shift in trust and whether it will bring the families closer together - given that references from outside one's family weren't specifically mentioned I assume they will be acceptable? Either way, it's nice to see what will hopefully be a solution to the whole 'rogue problem' we seem to have currently. |

i dont voice my opinions very often but ive known of a few people that dont talk that much so what happens to them will they be held back because they dont talk much? i understand the reasoning behind it but in certain circumstances this may not work you know for the new people in the world that havent really made many friends on these shores or just dont talk much. |

I applaud you sir for your ideal situation. If this works how you plan it we will not see idiots walking our streets as made men for unjust reasons. I hope this works well and seems to me like a good attempt to cleaning out and showing those who deserve the respect will get it. |

There is not much I can add to this speech; all the information one needs to know has been given. In some ways it is a shame that it has come to this, but I believe that at the current time this reference system is the most secure way of maintaining harmony within our society and deterring the threat of evil rogueryishness. It is something for myself and the other underworld leaders to consider, and I have yet to decide whether I will risk my intergrity by acting as a referee for a potential leader. However, generally I tend not to spit information which may come back to haunt me. So there's a clue into the direction of my thoughts. I have no doubt that some people will not care for this new implementation into the auth process, but I hope that some of you approach this matter with open minds. Anyway I have said my piece and look forward to hearing the reactions of others. |

mouse That will stop there being 'mute' Made men plus, shouldn't you have to work, and network for the position, it isn't something given away willy nilly Its something you have to really try for, Robbing a few 7/11's isn't enough to get you Made after this is implemented. Or so I should think. |

But the_mouse, thats EXACTLY the point. If you want to be trusted, you need to be known. One might expect that by the time you are ready to be made, you have worked along and aside many others. You exchanged information with your family, worked aside others who can stand up and say that you are to be trusted and given the sacred family oath. For some it takes a short while, for others it takes a few generations and yet for those who had trust and then lost it, it might take even more generations. Invest in your family and associates and gain their trust. This can be done by hard work, good deeds, good advice or any other form. |

I can understand the principle here and as one who likes to keep himself to himself I doubt I could attain 3 referee's. I'm sure there are others of the same situation. It will be interesting to see this panning out and if we will have loads of wiseguys all 'stuck' there. I would have thought family heads would be able to determine who get's the nod and who does not with confidence and assurance, but again, recent events have said otherwise. If I had a family of my own I would entrust my capo's to inform me of any suitable candidates and then run the rule over them myself, I would want my family strong and having high ranks would contribute to that. Well so I would have thought. |

yes i understand people dont want mute Mades and thats the way it should be Made men should talk and have the respect of others and i understand that but what happens if some people dont know many people and aint above the desired rank to be a referee for the person i must add im all for this proposal as i see it away to clean these streets to the way that most of us want but i just see that what of the new people that are too unsure of the streets to speak up? |

When i started my life as a gangster i did not know anyone coming into this life, and look at me know i have got to know alot of people in and outside the family. I think thatif they are not actig like a made they should NOT be one then if you want to be a made man you have to get round and pull your weight and do the work in the family and out. |

| This is a brilliant idea, But yes i can see a lot more tears flooding the streets about it. Some people may find this unfair on their behalf BUT you have seen what has happened over the last few weeks and this seem like a fair system to work to prevent further rogue attacks. | |

I, of course, agree with this to the fullest, and our family will adhere to the stipulation herein. This is a safe move for everyone, as we know sometimes there are knee jerk reactions to certain events, this is not one of them, this is something that took some thinking, some input from several people and has a great potential to rectify a few different types of scenarios. For example: The "OMG, a Made Man promotion Button"; Leader pushes it and sends a note to said member; "congrats on Made Man" I'm not sure some of you realise how HUGE a deal Made Man is...this is the point you actually become PART of the family, until this point you were just running errands, doing hits or making money. Now you have an opinion. To many leaders in the past have promoted people to Made Man when it wasn't deserved. ALSO: This gives the community the chance to have a part in every Made Man promotion. Would you give your "OK" to promote someone to Made Man thats family line consistently screws up, goes rogue, disrespects? It'll make you think twice before doing that, as we all know now that if you give your blessing that you are responsible for that individual. I LOVE this idea, and plan to push it through until the end. This is a perfect example of a great attempt on making this community a more respectable place to organize your crimes. p |

This is in fact an awesome idea, why it wasn't introduced earlier.. who knows. This works the same as getting a job outside this world of ours. If you want to make it somewhere in life, you need references. If not, you work you're way up from the bottom until you're superior recognizes you're hard work and decides to promote you or give you a pay rise. What i'm saying is; if you wanna be big in the world, you have to know people. Or it will take you 3 times as long to get somewhere if you're a nobody. Good Freakin' Idea! Inferno raises his glass to this idea. |

If I may ask Mr Cheese, what of the current individuals ranked Made Man and above? Will they have to fulfill this references section as part of retaining the rank they currently possess? If they have indeed earned it, then it wouldn't be an issue for them to find 3 referees. Also, all this talk of underground movements, I don't think I need to elaborate on that issue, surely there will be cliques who will just stick together, and you say that if 1 of the Made Men goes rogue, then the referees die too correct? Surely this would just mean that you will have 4 rogues simultaneously as opposed to just 1 rogue? Sorry for the copious amounts of questions sir, I just wondered if these issues could be explained to me. |

If you read again, see my mention of retrospectives, that accounts for everyone above. If this forces groups of rogues to act together then so be it. If they were decent in the first place they would have done that anyway. |

Having had more time to mull it over in my bonce, I've come up with a few questions of my own. Will there be any room for manoeuvre in regards to this? Could one family decide to place sole onus and punishment upon say, the Caporegime of Mobster A should they mistakes after being made; or is this a simple non negotiable standard to be upheld across the board? I assume that, naturally, the Leader reserves the right to deny a reference, but what form will the reference take? A simple nod from Made Man 1 to a Leader to say Wise Guy X is worthy of his button, or will a more in depth critique be necessary? |

A reference is what you want it to be, afterall your life is on the line. A leader can still reject a promotion if he or she wises. This is a mandatory component of the promotion but not the only component. Punishment will be co-ordinated across leaders, open communication channels and respect will be key factors. However to play out scenarios, I expect that if a criminal goes rogue and the leaders whose referees are in question are offline that the other leaders could come together and decide it's appropriate to punish immediately as it is pertinent to resolving the situation. I do not expect leaders to use this as an excuse to shoot each others familys or captains etc |

| This might put more importance on the sub crew leaders and his crew interacting with each other. I have no problems with having to get references but the punishments might need to be worked out. If this brings stability to our ways a reference you made 6 months ago for a young wiseguy then turns roque when he became a boss and could not rank any farther. But now you are running your own crew as a captain or a true Auth. Will that leader be killed or demoted? | |
