Opening Note from the Editor Thanks to all who have generously supported The Logan Review, both with financial donations and/or public comments. Your comments here in the streets- even a brief word- are the foremost factor in increasing our audience, and they are greatly appreciated. I'd like to keep this venture going as long as I believe that people are actually reading it- and that I can ensure at least a decently high quality. Well, let's get cracking.
In a recent event shortly before publication, a conflict broke out between the families of BadWolf- and TonyCosta. This conflict claimed the lives of many, including Luxuria, a Philadelphia crewleader, before the death of TonyCosta signaled the denouement of the conflict. As these discussions are still relatively new, we will refrain from any sort of commentary or summation. Instead, we'll point you to the following explanation of the war by Badwolf-, which also contains an illusive comment by RobOakheart explaining why others took steps to intervene in this comment. The discussion is found HERE ***************************************************************************************** Coming up later in this issue: In our weekly "Ask Kate" mailbag, we were asked what would inspire crewleaders to be more active in the streets. We should have just given our own stupid opinion, but we were overachievers, so instead we asked every crewleader their opinion- and their responses are contained below. ***************************************************************************************** Beautiful, Brilliant New Auth Purchases Luxurious 5 Man HQ in Downtown Detroit Rumor has it that her boss was frustrated at being knocked off his perch of being the top dog from his city in the streets. Nah. Much more important and/or exciting things have happened... let's get to them.
Imperial, a Capo formerly of BadWolf-'s crew in The Strip, Las Vegas, was shot and killed after setting up in Summerlin, Las Vegas. It appears, at this time, that Imperial was killed due to a lack of a prior speech announcing this move. This procedure was previously announced in a speech by Godfather Chairman Nakamura from the 15th of October, titled "Communicating Future Expansions". It is currently being discussed once again in the streets. This reporter, working through public sources only, has little else to add on this story- other than expressing our hopes that a miscommunication like this will not happen again and expressing our condolences to the family and friends of Imperial. The speech by Nakamura can be read in it's entirety HERE ***************************************************************************************** A silly thought on a serious matter: was this policy changed due to the ridiculous and commonly used "no pew pew" phrase found in auth mails? We may never know... ***************************************************************************************** Fight Night Recap... and what happens when both fighters die? The King of the Ring competition, previously lauded in the pages of at least one nationally praised newspaper, has completed its Quarter Final Match Ups- but recent events have left some wondering about the next step of the competition. Let's review the fights, in reverse order (for a reason that will be clear at the end). Quarter Final Fight 4: Disorder (green, Las Vegas) defeats PizzaLover (RobOakheart, New York) in a viciously fought split decision. Quarter Final Fight 3: Wild_Horses (TonyCosta, Las Vegas) defeats Nakamura (Nakamura, Chicago) by an unexpected knockout. Quarter Final Fight 2: Stoner_Marley (Deces, Chicago) defeats BrotherHec (BrotherHec, Chicago) with a strong first round knockout. Quarter Final Fight 1: Imperial (BadWolf-, Las Vegas) defeats JoeRosoga (JoeRosoga, Philadelphia) with a spinning cartwheel kick knockout. As you may have noticed, both participants in Quarter Final Fight 1 are now deceased; this reporter reached out to FitzChivalry to see if a plan was in place to handle this unexpected event. At this time, FitzChivalry and green are considering their options, but this reporter has no doubt that this pair who conspired to bring such excellent entertainment to our streets will find a fair solution. Further update: Wild_Horses has also recently passed away. Does that mean Nakamura gets an automatic entry to the next round? Who will step in place of Fight 4? Will they let the attractive young newspaper reporter battle for the prize money? (Our predictions: Probably. No clue. Nope.) Further updates on this situation, as well as all the action of the Semi Final fights accompanied by excellent commentary from green and FitzChivalry, can be found HERE
***************************************************************************************** Coming up later in this issue: We review the profiles of all RHMs! Because the CL one took freaking forever to write, and now we're trapped into doing this. And the LHMs next issue? Oh no... ***************************************************************************************** Family (discussion) Feud Dusty, who has previously been praised by this publication as one of the most talented individuals at launching popular, active, and important street discussions, succeeded once again this week in gathering speakers and onlookers alike by raising a discussion that asked the following: "Do you think it is important for a family to inspire their members to take part in the community?" To illustrate the differences that she perceived in various public activity levels Dusty used the examples of existing families: Whispering Shores as "Hardly Vocal", Sons of Anarchy as "Selective Participants", the crews of Philadelphia as "Very Vocal Upper Structure with Negative Effects ", and The Gato Regime as " Very Vocal Upper Structure with Positive Effects". Some important early contributors to this discussion: MavisBeacon quickly chimed in to question whether being quiet was such a bad thing and essentially proposed that all inviduals have their areas of strength. green shared what I consider to be an incisive comment, as he stated "I'm absolutely 100% in favour of "taking part in the community" meaning doing something worthwhile", as opposed to, as he earlier put it in a succinct fashion: people saying "the same old garbage rehashed time and time again to the point where it just becomes white noise". BobbyMunson stated "In my personal opinion, being out in the streets doesn't really help the community at all. We get some entertainment and we can debate but it rarely ever results in anything positive for the majority of the community"; he later concluded by saying that, in his ancestors' experience, the biggest contribuots" were never the most active out in public either, but I attribute that to how busy they were behind closed doors teaching". Later this question of contributing to the larger community vs. contributing to your family became an essential point of understanding. cutie offered the opinion that "Keeping thoughts to oneself and being quiet is not a bad thing. Anyways, criticism kind of eliminates the chance for a person to speak freely out here on the streets", raising a fair point that many people may be more willing to speak in the streets if they were not worried about being criticized. This reporter would submit that they've certainly witnessed men and women get criticized in the streets- and while it's true that some of them were chastised into silence, many of them learned from the experience and grew into better speakers. Neveah questioned whether saying "that the crew leader and/or right hand from a family you know nothing about can't "be bothered to get involved on discussions with the community" is rude and honestly, in my opinion, somewhat disrespectful to a sitting Godfather." After raising the issue of possible disrespect, Neveah concluded by proclaiming "I believe that the streets are one part of our world, and perhaps these days they are a larger part then they were in the past, but they hardly are the only defining part of a leader or crew." It was at this point, unfortunately, when an interesting, spirited discussion went off the rails. Crest, a Wise Guy from La Famiglia Gato who had chimed in earlier in the discussion, at this point began an increasingly illogical, obtuse, and disrespectful string of comments directed first at Neveah and then at Godfather Chairman Nakamura. Nakamura commented that Crest was "still upset about your kin getting themselves killed", providing more context for onlookers to potentially explain Crest's erratic and disrespectful behavior. Crest denied this was a factor and continued his behavior. ChristianGato entered the debate with a longer reflection, stating, among other things, that "Debate and passion like this needs a controlling factor, and that is respect. The victor in a battle of words isn't the one that can shout the loudest. We need to maintain a respectful approach to remind us of the purpose of walking these streets. I will talk with the young signore Crest regarding his words, however we should remember that the biggest reason to step out onto the streets should be to inspire". The message, however, was not received by Crest, who continued his behavior in a way that led JaxTeller to note that " The blatant disdain Crest has shown to Godfather Nakamura would have quickly lead to a bullet in the skull up until very recently." To be honest, rehashing the many errors that Crest made in this speech would make this newspaper even more monstrously long than it already will be. Eventually, after many spirited comments, Crest seemed to admit that he had been at least partially wrong, which led to Nakamura stating "Thank you for admitting that you were out of line in the way you handled your responses. I am always open to participating in discussions when addressed, but all you had to do was reach out and ask for my opinion on any matter and I would have been glad to have given it to you." insta contributed a large comment offering his insights and particularly criticizing Crest, stating that while Crest had some valid questions, he'd lost any effective contribution with the way he'd acted. There were many good points made by insta- but fortunately the conversation, and this article, at this point is nearing the end. Personally, the comment in this debate that I agree with the most was the one I said myself, which occured at the end of the discussion. I think I made a lot of good points- but I'm not going to quote myself in my own paper. RobOakheart then appeared, making a comprehensive statement that I'd encourage everyone to read, as I cannot quote it here due to its length. However, some major points were that the Godfather Chairman did not equate family contributions to community contributions, reflecting that many people preferred to stay in their comfort zones, which he considered a dangerous trend in our world. He summarized many of his main points by stating "Disrespect is a no-go and Mr. Crests’s words I disapprove of. Godfather Nakamura just needs to call for his head and I’m sure some unfortunate accident will happen to Mr. Crest. Not because we fear Nakamura, but because we value him. But in the same manner it makes sense that we don’t kill Mr. Crest. Why? Because we’re confident on our own contributions, whether they are more or less visible. The idea of giving opposing opinions a voice is worth a lot to us as well." The matter finally concluded, hopefully, with the death of Crest. I highly recommend reading the full discussion, found HERE It also launched a follow up speech by Lancelot titled "Is rank now deemed worthless?" located HERE ***************************************************************************************** The Review of Week: RHM Profile Edition This week, our list looks at the profiles of RHMs. LHMs are next week- and then we're going to pick something freaking shorter. Perhaps "the top four oldest people at this moment" or "Top Profiles That Rhyme with FurPlayedBees BombStresser" or something. Anyways, let get this review rolling. Chicago Well, a strange opening one, as it doesn't really give a clear image of insta. Is it allegorical? Is he the child? The lights? The moon? The road? A striking mix of the innocent and the unknown that... oh God. I sound like an art critic. This is what happens, apparently, when you don't just show your face to the world. Art critics happen. Rating: 8.8/10 as a picture, 7.5/10 as a profile. I like it. But where are you? Rating: 7.2/10. But seriously, a mole named Esther. She'd probably be nice and cheerful and dig holes for needy children or something. Sigh.
Rating: 9.0/10. Is the pumpkin smiling because he's looking up her dress? More like... Pervkin, amirite? No? Okay.
SpaceCowboy Rating: 8.2/10. If my jacket gets dirty, can I borrow yours? (Note: refusal will lead to -0.2 Rating points... which is like, super important.)
reverandmm80 Rating: 7.9/10. So... am I invited to the pool party?
Rating: 8.0/10. Is there a shark inside a shark? Sharkception? I want to analyze this more... but it hurts my eyes. And brain. Is Mavis particularly nervous? Drugged? Trapped in a box? Constantly shocked? Who can say? Let's calm down a bit, Mavis. This is a bit too frantic for me. Rating: 7.9/10. Hopefully it's duck season?
Paranoid. Thank God. I was getting nervous again. After so many confusing entries, we finally have some good old fashioned beefcake. AND he cleans? Maybe he's too good to be true... or maybe now I'M paranoid? Rating: 9.3/10. But seriously. Come to my apartment. Bring the vacuum.
A strong entry. Thoughtfully staring into the snow? Check. Can handle an axe? Check. In touch with nature? Apparently. But most importantly... an adorable wolf and/or dog that I highly suspect will be my best friend. My only concern: an extremely long, extremely impractical cape. I mean hell, that thing could be a tent. Rating: 9.0/10. Can I play with your dog in that tent? Not a euphemism.
Artus Rating: 7.8/10. But seriously. Please mail me that animal.
Rating: 8.5/10. Nice use of movement without making my eyes scream. Well, I can't really get a good look here, although it's certainly an effective intimidation tactic. I'm assuming that's what you're going for here. A quiet, but solid entry. Rating: 8.4/10. Fist O'Pain. You must be Irish?
Classic, DaisyMae. Nice and simple. A vintage beauty with a well built... profile. Rating: 9.0/10. I wish I was a rock.
Rating: 9.6/10. But seriously, let me buy you lunch next time you're in Detroit. I'll find a nice place. Or build you one. Call me? Steady, cool expression. Well dressed. A great city-based nickname. I approve... but the hair's just a little too much for me. It's not you, BostonGeorge. I just can't handle it. Rating: 8.9/10. But it'd be a 9.3/10 if you gave me half an hour in a hair salon. Oh man, I was so looking forward to this one. Cute little sloths, always hanging in trees. Getting into shenanigans. But no, Sloth. You had to destroy that dream of mine. It's actually a cool concept- I just can't get over my own anticipation here. Love the name. Love the aforementioned seasonal relevance. Just... not my particular cup of tea. Nothing personal. Rating: 8.3/10. Oh thank God. Our last city is coming up.
What a mouthful. Also, apparently, a uniform-full. Those thighs look deadly. Glad your not afraid to show them off. Rating: 8.3/10. The name does have a certain literary quality that I enjoy. I know this wasn't as amusing. I'm getting tired. Jeez. I'm a girl who can really appreciate some alliteration. And if you had to be missing a finger... well, I'd say the ring finger is probably the best choice. Solid entry! Rating 8.6/10. For a moment, before I saw you, I wasn't sure if you were just a huge supporter for fingers. But sometimes literal is best. ***************************************************************************************** Trying to put a job together in the streets and looking for some people to work with? Even if this business seems largely concluded, it was undoubtedly noteworthy at the time and deserves at least a brief mention. The first incident involved AlphabetOmaley, RHM at the time to JoeRosoga. He appeared in the streets claiming to have found a book of "kinky fetishes" involving the crewleaders of Philadelphia and Godfather Chairman RobOakheart. After ChristianGato quickly appeared to get an explanation from JoeRosoga, the situation deteriorated quickly (note: many of AlphabetOmaley's comments were seemingly wiped from the record books). This particular event ended with AlphabetOmaley leaving his crew- and winding up in the obituaries. The second incident was even stranger, in this reporter's opinion. KL initially made a speech in the streets in which he had said "I am honored to be apart of Philly and I am also honored to be serving with Joe. I hope that Philly continues to run as one". Two days later, he appeared in the streets again, except this time he was denouncing the crew of JoeRosoga, stating " things just are not working!... we have 1 amazing crew member and her name is Diana. Myself, Joe and her are the only ones who donate to the crew and even attempt to make things work." It appears that KL was motivated to try to combat public opinion of what he perceived to be his reputation as someone who jumped crews, intent on explaining that he was dedicated and loyal. The general consensus from the crowd was that the speech was a mistake. Some stated that as RHM KL possessed the opportunity, at least, to try to fix these issues himself. Others focused on the fact that airing "dirty laundry" like this in public was inappropriate. JoeRosoga, CL to both AlphabetOmaley and KL, showed up in the obituaries, along with KL, early the next morning. Perhaps the largest lesson learned from this, in addition to the usual warnings about caution when it comes to picking a Right Hand who represents you, was the understanding for many that free cities should seemingly operate as individual crews and not a unified force. ASK KATE This week's question comes from Dusty in New York. (Dear Reader, I promise I won't mention Dusty as much in my next issue. But it's not my fault that she happened to start a major street speech, is a RHM, and sent in my first Ask Kate question!)
Well, Dusty, that's a pretty big question. And what I probably should have done was just ramble for a couple paragraphs and say goodnight. But I wanted to try to give a more comprehensive answer, so I sent out a mail to every crewleader alive around shortly after 18:00 on October the 24th. I promised I'd give them three days to respond: my question is printed verbatim below.
While I originally intended to include "Did Not Respond" for those who didn't answer, I've decided to refrain from that. Running a crew is a busy job, and these men and women are under no obligation to assist me in a survey, particularly if they have other business taking up their time. With that acknowledgement, I thank all the crewleaders who did respond. Let's see what they had to say:
Mercedes_Kompressor: If Street activity were more akin to Business District activity, I would be more active there. I'm not a fan of debate. Even if I was, most of the topics have been rehashed over and over. I'd rather invest my time and energy interacting with others in our places of business. Opinions, announcements, and close-ended storytelling just aren't where my interest lies.
Slash: I think it has been said a few times lately in the streets, perhaps by Green and Nakamura, but I believe the only real time to approach the streets and offer your thoughts and opinions is when you have something you feel you can add to the discussion or perhaps have a topic you wish to raise that hasn't been aired in the streets recently. If you are simply coming to the streets to echo that of which others have said, then really its not doing anything for the streets or you. I dont say this to discredit those that do already do such things, simply that its my own belief as to why I'm not out there as much as I maybe would like to be. I've often taken a walk down the street and listed to Joe Bloggs raise a great topic and had the thoughts running through my head ready to retort.. only to hear someone else approach Joe with exactly that which I wanted to say. So instead of speaking up I sit there and listen to hear the views anyone else may be able to bring, content that my own has been aired already by someone else. Sorry, seems a long way to say that there really isn't anything outside of what currently happens in the streets as I already do visit and speak, just for the reasons above not as much as perhaps I would like.
@Olympia-: Basically I like things happening that can be viewed as fun, like a party, or funny, etc. Those types of events are easier for me to get involved in because I can just say some random one-liners and funny things to make people laugh. The more serious topics, I have a hard time getting involved in because I'm not the best at debating. I never know how to string things together to make valid points, so usually I just avoid getting myself involved in a debate, so that I don't make myself out to be an idiot or something. I do need to TRY to get more involved in the debates, and with time I'm sure I will, but for now it's just easier for me to get involved in the conversations that are a bit less argumentative. So to sum this up, daily parties with people from all over this world would be fantastic!
Besides that, I make my morning coffee round to the cafe around the corner. If there are interesting conversations which I feel need my input, I will step up. Although I'm more a family man to be honest. If i feel the conversation is constructive I tend to pitch in more.

Dusty had picked up a copy of The Logan Review: Issue Two and brought it into the lounge where Anghrist was sitting. Settling into a chair nearby she began reading the paper. Her eyes began to get wide and she began to giggle as she read. "What are you laughing at Dusty?" "Why the right hand profile reviews. I can't wait to see what yours will be like in the next issue!" Still chuckling she continued to read further down. Noticing her question she read intently at the answer. "By golly she got the answers out of everyone. KateLogan just might be my hero after all. Here read this!" Dusty pushed the paper towards him as she got up to grab some paper and a pen. She needed to write to Kate right away. "Dear Kate, You are an amazing writer and I do hope that you continue on with this wonderful newspaper of yours. Thank you so much for getting to the bottom of my question. I hope it was not too much trouble for you. Your flattery has also not gone unnoticed but I believe people want to hear about your comments in speeches and your family as well. Sometimes it can't hurt to show them all about you. Looking forward to your next issue and some drinks when I am in Detroit next. Your Not So Secret Admirer, Dusty" Folding the paper she ushered a young lad out into the chilly evening to the nearest airport so he could deliver the note personally for her. |

Sitting in the lounge looking over recent boxing results and cursing this luck, Anghrist sees Dusty enter and sit down as well. Once she practically throws the paper at him, he opens it himself and notices right away that it's The Logan Review: Issue Two. He reads it thoroughly. "Wow what a great read. Now that's a paper! I can't wait for the next issue." He then realizes that next week it's the LHM's turn to be judged based on their profiles. "Shit, I better pull my self together Dusty... Dusty?" Looking around be notices that Dusty is long gone, and that he has been talking to himself this whole time. "No point in stopping now I guess." |

Continuing his new ritual of waking and baking with an issue of his new found favorite read "The Logan Review" Marley starts to read... " Lots of bloodshed these pass few days sad to see good fighters die, should be interesting to see what'll become of the tournament tho. As much as I'd love to auto qualify for the finals I'd prefer to fight for my place. " Reading further Marley starts to chuckles before taking a toke " Are you on your own lighter? " Marley says with his best Kate impersonation " She has a point you know Chong " Marley says while passing the blunt " You deserve that 8.5 " " Hmmm this advertising spot seems tempting too maybe we should open our own Business don't you think? Hmmm maybe its just the weed talking... " |

Drinking his morning coffee Striphe read the second issue of the newest entertainment to hit the streets. Reading over the sections as he ate a chocolate donut next to a swimming pool all by himself. The sun was at the top of the sky and the wind blew softly as he smiled a bit as he saw his name in the print He pulled out a pad of paper and his finest pen casted in 24k gold. He quickly wrote a letter to the editor/em> "Great edition but no you are not allowed to the pool party. I do enjoy the entertainment though and it is great to see on the streets again and also written so well and easy to read and follow" He sealed the envelope and handed it to his assistant to hand deliver later that afternoon |

In inappropriately high heels once again she makes her way back to the HQ with 5 copies of The Logan Review, they were not good at sharing so she thought the extra copies were a wise investment.....thumbing through the pages she stumbles as she reads of her right hand being an 8.3 / 10 and having deadly thighs, she laughs loudly! The guys are going to love this and the teasing is likely to last for days on those thighs for sure...brilliant! |

This week's reading went well with my morning bialy and cuppa joe. An outstanding job covering this week's events! And might I recommend working on getting an interview with the finalists of green and FitzChivalry 's Fight Night competition? I feel that would be perfect as this competition is coming to an end. |

Bishop was late on the take for this one, but he was able to get hold of both a first, and second edition of the Logan Review. Kicking back on a bench in the park nearby, he thumbed through both papers. Laughs were had, and knowledge learned. "She actually has a pretty good thing goin' here." He folded both up and put them under his arm, heading off for a coffee. "I'll have ta tell tha lass she has a knack fer writin'." |

Kate falls into her office chair and plunks her feet on her desk. Ripping open a couple letters, she can't help but grin. Looks like people were still reading. She mentally thought about starting her third issue- but resolved to make it through the weekend before worrying about that. Perhaps she'd go for a walk in the streets and see what people were saying. |

Opening his front door at 6 am can sometimes be dangerous if you're not ready. The Logan Review was often a thick and heavy newspaper that when thrown by the mafia paper boy has given Fist a black-eye from time to time. This morning though it luckily missed his face and hit his hand which was holding his morning cup of Joe that spilled, scolding his hand and forearm. Fist closed his eyes to embrace the pain of the hot coffee as he heard a car squealing away down his street. After closing his door Fist sat and read his paper with what was left of your brew. Chuckling at the part where his name was mentioned... What a great read, well done. Sadly though I think they figured out my secret heritage. |

Deces takes a seat in her most comfortable chair inside the office. After noticing Issue Two of the Logan Review written by KateLogan underneath some papers she decides to finish off her night with some good old fashion entertainment. After finishing her read she goes to type up a letter to be sent out the next morning. All the way from Chicago i personally would like to thank you for the creative mind you have. What you are doing for our community is something to be proud about and it is greatly appreciated. I look forward for Issue Three when the time comes. Keep up the good work. Puts letter in the box hoping it doesn't get loss in transit. |

"It takes a certain amount of commitment to deliver such a quality publication on a regular basis for the benefit of your chosen cause. Commitment is driven by the value and care you place in that cause, which in this case, is our community. As always, I'm glad you have been recognised for these efforts and look forward to future editions" Christian studies the cover, before folding it under his arm and thought out loud. "And we may well see how Detroit can support you on this venture..." |

I really appreciate the time and effort it takes for you to put this together. I am so thankful for this piece and look forward to more! Would be honored to contribute as well if ever needed or wanted. Also, how the hell did SpaceCowboy get an 8.2 on his suit rating and i received a 7.9. This reminds me of a certain presidential election with which I must say that I demand a recount. Also, Stoner_Marley got lucky in that fight and he knows it. Also, Just curious if Interviews will occur in future newspapers? |

She snapped the newspaper, hearing it crackle as she grasped it tighter in her hands. Sitting on a bench near a newspaper stand, Camilla arches an eyebrow as she reads the various topics of interest. One stood out to her though, causing a slight frown. “7.8 out of 10!?” She realized she mumbled aloud when the other lady sitting on the bench spoke. Camilla shook her head in apology before continuing to read. Surely Artus alone with his blood speckled attire would be rated at least a solid 9. The animal was adorable, true, but blood splatter was obviously so in season. Camilla shook her head as she kept reading about the other cities. She had jumped right to Las Vegas first, curiosity getting the better of her. Camilla thought the survey section was an interesting read without doubt. She was interested in hearing the different views of each leader across the country. Another issue very well worth the money she spent. Folding the newspaper neatly, Camilla collected her rhinestone clutch before heading home to share the new issue with her family. She couldn't wait for the next issue. KateLogan certainly had a way of captivating the reader’s attention. |

I see the boss Tellurium saunter in with a bundle of newspapers on her, chuckling away in the direction of her Right Hand Man. She then proceeds to hand them out to us to peruse. "Have a read of this, their is some important information that you all should be aware of, and I highly recommend you keep tabs on future editions. Oh and check out the middle page" as she winks to AurelianoBuendia After having a laugh at the mentioned storey and a quick look and giggle at AurelianoBuendia, a quick one as I think he maybe getting annoyed now with all the looks from the family. I carry on with the rest of the Articles and am absorbed for the next few hours. "Wow that's the best paper I've read, we need to be getting this more often Boss. I don't know the Editor but damn she is good, I hope she continues on. I'm sure this will only get better" Now it was motioning contributions and support, I don't normally but this has potential....hhmmm |
