I have now acquired the third bin, also officially the second trash bin. The bin blew in sometime last week and someone put it up against our house. It’s not our bin yet I have no way of knowing who’s bin it is. The good thing though is I have a shitton of cardboard to get rid of, and now I have a reason to do so!

i have 1 bin and its for black bags and i throw everything in that mf'er. they want us to sort but they also allow us 1 black bag a week now questions asked so i buy the biggest bags i can and fill it

MAJOR STATUS UPDATE! The neighbor has reclaimed their bin, but not before I got to use it successfully. Forgot to actually look outside to see who, but it was loud enough to hear in the morning. Forgot to put out the recycle bin, but it wasn’t actually full so not a huge issue.

Still just the 3 bins for us. Green, grey and brown. I think those are reasonable colours. The price hasn't gone up for the brown bin - yet. I have no confidence that it won't in the near future though. 

I def think we need to have at least two inside and two outside the house. Plus a compost bin. Plus miscellaneous smaller trash bins in different rooms of the house. I think it makes sense to have a bin for electronics recycling depending on how much of that a household produces at a given time. Sometimes it might be fun to have a bin for bins, but that might be overkill.

I no longer trust my city's recycling service, so I have taken to managing my own paper and plastic recycling. It's pretty easy to do since there is a drop-off place right down the street and I don't generate that much waste. The important thing is that I still have two bins, but I don't use them quite as much.

1 each bathroom

Too many bins. Green (green waste), brown (general rubbish), black (recycling ex cardboard), black boxes (for cardboard) and then a little maggot ridden green box (for food waste). 

Let's see so I have one in the kitchen one in each bathroom and I have three bathrooms. I have one in the three seasons porch. I also have one in the living room. One end the outside for garbage and recycling well one each for garbage and recycling. So if I had that together I believe that's eight oh wait make it 10:00 because I have one each in the computer rooms. Forgot about those. So 10

I have 2 bins garbage and recycling. I make my own compost, and most of the recycling probably ends up in the garbage anyway. Its all a big scam to make us feel good.

threw away the dog poop bin finally so now i just have a trash and a recycling bin, including 1 more smaller recycle bin that holds all my cans and stuff

We have bags instead of bins now, and a rubbish collection every 3 weeks:

-Red bag for plastics and tins

-Blue bag for cardboard

-Blue box for paper

-Green box for glass

-Black bins for general rubbish

-Collection point for soft plastics

I think Helping's post just threw everything here into question. I still have the two bins the a company comes around and collects, but I also have a third bin for personal use that is not collected by the trash company. I didn't think we were counting those, but if we are, the count is now THREE. Three bins.
