How many bins do you have? Started by: Grin-22 on Jul 14, '22 07:01
Come on Gordon.

You need to keep up. 5 is small fry for the hard hitters of this thread. Some of us are at 7 and we aint paying for waste removal.

Well. I am. Fucking Council tax

I have 6 at this moment. Sometimes I fill them and leave them for the bin men to see but not out for collection. I see them seething at the thought that I have such power over them. They want them but they're not having them. It's a side effect of the erectoid medication I'm on so my nurse tells me.

At the moment we put out 5 different bins

General waste

Recyclable

Grass

Glass

Foood

but later this year its changing

General Waste

Carboard/ Paper

Metals/ something else

all other recylables

glass

grass

food

How many more separate bins do they want us to have? seems a bit nuts to me

Report Post Tip
Just one for trash and one for compost. There's a neighborhood recycle bin area about a 2 min walk away that you go to with glass, cardboard, metals, etc. That's good socialism.

I don't use any bins because I live in a tent quite a lot of the time. Out of choice, you understand. I get the majority of my best work done in a tent and some of my greatest achievements have been accomplished whilst tent-dwelling. I would strongly recommend people embrace the tent lifestyle, regardless of neighbourhood or location, and escape the trapping of every day life.

I've never lived in a tent.

We currently have 3. A green bin for trash, a blue bin for recycling, and a dark brown bin for yard debris. Why the yard debri isn’t the green one beats me.

:Kitchen Bin
:Waste wheely bin
:Recycle bin
:Garden waste bin

That brings a grand total of 4 bins.
Report Post Tip

b) organic disposal

c) well-paper, card board

d) metallic disposal

e) bottles, colored and uncolored

I have many bins and pride myself on this very fact. My garden is like a kingdom of bins, with me as its sole ruler. I rule my bin-kingdon with an iron fist, though I have a gentle side to me as well.

I challenge anyone to claim they have more bins than me. I fucking dare you.

So here goes:

1: Plastic
2: Organic waste
3: Paper/cardboard
4: General residual waste
5: Electronic waste
6: Glass
7: Hard plastics/foam
8: Animal carcasses
9: Ikea furniture
A: Liquids
B: VHS tapes
C: Second-hand store items
D: Bins
E: Radioactive waste
F: Live animals
10: Expired Cheap wine
11: Expired Expensive wine
12: Bins-bins
13: Charcoal
14: Bodily fluids
15: Christmas articles
16: Mail
17: Printed E-mail
18: Explosives
19: Cash money
1A: [redacted]

Green bin. Grass clippings, bio, etc.

Black bin. Trash

Yellow bags. Plastics, metals (aluminum foil, etc)

Blue bags. Paper, cardboard

I scoop up dog poop with a shovel and launch it like a trebuchet into the field behind the house.

Report Post Tip

One green one for yard waste,

One blue one for recycling,

Two black ones for general trash,

One very large construction dumpster for remodeling waste (hope to be done with that one in a few months!)

Report Post Tip

Outside my flat we have a huge bin plus the recycling bins to keep everything in its place but many don't even use the bins at all

Report Post Tip

We only have the two. One for trash and one for recycling. We do have local facilities for yard waste that also doubles as a community compost.

Report Post Tip

After a vigorous dispute between myself and the binman we have 2 bins.

1. Trash

2. Trash

Report Post Tip

I'm afraid I'm also at odds with the waste removal company as of late. I moved into a new house at the end of August and they started billing me for trash removal and recycling on Aug. 30, BUT THEY DID NOT BRING ME MY BINS FOR A FULL MONTH! That's right, I had to supply my own, cheap, hardware store bin until they finally dropped off the one they were supposed to provide.

Report Post Tip

4 cans:
     • 1 green and gray one for recycling (metal, plastics, cardboard, etc.)
     • 3 black and gray ones for trash

Also got a gray bin inside for taking recycling stuff to the outdoor bin.

Report Post Tip

Green bin: Grass clippings, bio, etc (which we pay an extra supplement for so that the council will pick it up)

Brown bin: non-recyclable rubbish

Black bin: Plastics, metals (aluminum foil, etc) which are recyclable

Blue boxes. Paper, cardboard

There is a conflict between (1) the people at the council who design their local recyling scheme who make the scemes too complex with no regard to standardisation of colours, stuff that can be recycled etc and (2) common sense

Report Post Tip

I dont know what amazes me more. The fact there are so many responses to a query about bins, or the fact the responses are so varied.

I have 4 bins, well, technically I have 5, but 4 variations

Green Bin - Everyday use

Blue Bin - Recycling paper/cardboard etc

Purple Bin - Glass

Brown Bin - Garden/Food Waste (x2)

Green and Blue fill up pretty quickly as they only collect them once every 3 weeks now.

Report Post Tip

we have 4 bins

1- black bin for General waste

2- green bin for food waste

3- blue bin for plastic

4- Brown bin for cardboard.

Report Post Tip

We have one.

Yup. Just one.

For some reason, when we moved into our new house, the disposal company issued us one general household waste 96-gallon waste bin and told us that the recycling bins would be available after the new year. And it's just one of those, too. They don't have us separate the recyclables. I guess they do that at their facility. But for now, I guess the planet is dying and it's all my fault.  *shrug*
