found out today my roomate stole them from the neighbors, what a scumbag

I have no bins that the government will come and collect from my house. I do own a couple of bins though, I just have to take them myself to a bigger set of bins which I don't own. 

1 for trash and 1 for recycling..... the one for trash was so busted up the local wildlife kept pulling everything out of it.... my landlord claimed he ordered a new one and one day i had a new one. turns out my roomate swapped our crap one with someone down the streets. not sure how i feel about since the landlord lied and we now have a bin that the animals cant get into. it was a daily chore cleaning the yard.

Bins where I live are a funny subject. Some places have two whereas other places have four!

Mine:- two bins! Recycling (black with a blue lid) and general waste (black with black lid)

Other places, such as other family members in different parts of the town have a black with blue lid (see above), a black with black lid (see above), a brown with brown lid (garden waste) and a little green bin for food waste. Also, a green bucket for cans and tins!

I was delighted to see that the UK is now regualting the number of bins people have. There will be a maximum of 4 - recycling for bottles and plastics; cardboard; landfill and green waste /food.

This gets around the problem of councils having a dedicated team of people who have no other job than recycling, and who don't accept that a simple system is better than a complicated one that only they understand

I too have 3 bins at my house.

A black bin, for general waste.

A green bin, for recyclables.

And a tiny grey bin. I think it's for food waste. I don't use it. As if I would waste food.

Well, considering that they already started charging extra for every kind of packaging (bottes, packaging, glass, plastic, bags and everything else) and since I am already paying:
 

• Groceries
  • Includes TAX
  • Includes VAT
  • Includes other crap
• Drinks
  • Includes TAX
  • Includes VAT
  • Includes surcharge for packaging

And many other things, including the Sanitation... I think it is perfectly fine to have ONE BIG, throw all the trash together and let them use all that wonderful money they get from me to pay their workers for segregation and recycling 

I for 3 bins for trash and 1 for recycling. We might need one more for each, considering how much trash we produce on a daily basis.

Now that I am taking my recyclables to the local recycling center instead of using a pick-up service, I am down to one bin outside and three recycling bins for sorting inside the garage. That makes it easy when I run to the recycling center to dump and go. The general waste still gets thrown in the regular bin outdoors and is picked up every Wednesday morning by the local waste management company.
