I don't really watch horror movies, because I'm a wimp. I think I've only seen a handful of them: Grudge, Poltergiest, Exorcism and one of the Saws. I disliked them all equally!!

One movie that was pretty great especially considering the ending was probably 'The Mist'. The whole atmosphere was great as expected of a Stephen King story done by Frank Darabont.

The Poltergeist movies are pretty neat. The little girl kind of freaks me out though. Caroline? Carol Anne? I dont know she is a bit odd.

I am normally too sober to watch horror movies, they make me laugh and they are always so fake and unreal.
The only ones that are good, are the ones that are realistic. But I like Saw series :)

Not a fan of them but has to be the classics of the Friday the 13th films and Nightmare on Elm Street. Love those mainly due to the fact that they face off and how it was played in plenty prequels to show that that the event was going to happen.

I mentioned The Ring films earlier up in this thread as ones that stuck into my mind. I still like them today. But have seen many mention the Poltergeist's films too. I not seen the remake of it but the first 3 original ones stick into my head to the point that the guy who wonders pass the house, to talk to the little girl voice is still stuck in my head. I think I learnt in my youth what creepiness sounded like! 

I'm not really a fan of horror movies but I have recently seen The Mortuary collection and I gotta admit I liked it, I'd recommend it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet.

‘Boogeyman’, as a film, is pretty junk. It is pretty creepy and very jumpy though; I went to see it in the cinema with my brother-in-law and the two of us jumped at that far more than at ‘The Exorcism of Emily Rose’. It is watchable and as far as jumpy goes, Boogeyman is up there, but there are definitely better horror movies.

Not really a fan of the horror genre to be completely honest. I would have to say the only horror movies I've enjoyed is The Exorcist and The Poltergeist. I did find The Exorcist more funny than scary though.

Universal pictures and Hammer films were the best for me, the Originals... Frankenstein, Dracula the Wolfman most actors were Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee in the Hammer films.

It has to be the lovely slasher era, with your Nightmare on Elm Streets, Child's Plays, Halloween and Friday the 13th.  I'm a big, big fan of all of those movies - gotta love the cheese.  They have not aged well but they are so iconic and make it into todays media, unfortunately with a good portion of the 'youth' not even knowing what it references.

Never Sleep Again

Well for me, Scream was the first horror movie to get me into the genre in the first place, so I will add that one. Another great one is Friday the 13th the Final Chapter (the best F13 movie imo). Nightmare on Elm Street, Nightmare on Elm Street 2 & 3, Child's Play the original, Black Christmas the original not the crappy remake. Texas Chainsaw Massacre can be here as well.

The scariest and one of the best overall horror movies I saw was Sinister. Throughout the atmosphere was horrific with the footage from the camera, the reveal and the last fifteen minutes of the movie gave me nightmares which does not happen often. Idk but when a horror movie breaks the fourth wall successfully it freaks me the fuck out. 

Conjuring and Conjuring 2 were great. Original Exorcist has to be here I think as well. 

There are others probably but that's what I can think of right now. 

my thing on horror movies is you cant really find good one....its either someting i wouldnt call horror just massacre like idk wrong turn or saw....nothing there different than action movies where ppl shoot and blow each other up...there is no movie thats keeping you tense for like 2 hours waiting what the hell is going to happen next

It's not the best but either Halloween or Friday the 13th I have very fond memories watching marathons of those movies with my mother
