| Job you wanted as a kid. | Started by: Lance on Jan 22, '21 12:16 |

As a kid I always wanted a really cool job: jet pilot, submarine captain, game developer, gifted software dev... Ya know, stuff like that. Turns out I'm shit at maths, taking care of my health or basically anything that I needed for those jobs. So I settled for minimum wage jobs and depression, some consider this a bad move |

I always wanted to be a professional athlete. That's probably why I had no idea what to do with my life up until a couple of years ago, I never really wanted anything else. |

I ended up being exactly what I wanted to be as a kid (after I no longer wanted to be a cowboy). I won't tell you what that is, though. |

I always wanted to "work with computers" when I was child. No real idea of anything particular, just the vague idea that I wanted to make sure that I was sat at a computer all day every day. Little did I know how little that would narrow down the field I would be working in. |

| I’m always reminded that for years I wanted to be a scaffolder. Reason in my head was that you just basically played on a big climbing frame all day... | |

When I was a kid, I really wanted to be a pediatrician. I have always loved helping people, and especially kids. I had a really good pediatrician as a kid which probably helped me really want to be come one. |

Did any of us really want a "job" as a kid? When I was growing up I just wanted to be able to do anything that sounded cool. That was the real dream! Getting paid for it was an added bonus, but the stuff I wanted to do as a kid weren't really jobs, they were hobbies and passions...One day I'll get back to them :) |

As a kid I always just wanted to be a hockey player... once I realized that wasn't gonna happen I wanted to be a mechanical engineer... and once I realized how much more school that was going to require I took a trade. Never was a fan of classrooms or sitting still for long periods in general. |

I always wanted to be a garbage truck guy.
When i was a kid, i always saw those guys working hard and yet always happy and joking with each other. Plus the hazard suit looked amazing lol.
Anyways, i know it's a reality that those guys work hard and need more attention. Few people know how important they are. Thanks garbage truck guys! |

Man I always wanted to have my own company and do stuff. Like I never had a dream to like, be in specific industry, I would like to be in IT now and have my own company. And my only goal is to have good wages to everyone so that their families can live from their hard work :) |

I had big goals when I was a kid. I wanted a job at Chuck E. Cheese. I mean, you get paid to work there. It seemed like a solid career choice to me. It was close by my home so when I got bigger I could even ride my bike there by myself. Then I could play games, eat all the pizza I wanted and drink free soda without my parents monitoring me. Then they got rid of the ball pit and I thought naw, can't work all day and then no ball pit. |

| I was recently reminded of an old childhood dream to be a pig farmer. I think mostly just wanted a pet pig rather than having to kill them etc. but yeah, that lasted for 6 years apparently. | |

As a young boy i wanted to become a historian. I loved reading about wars and history and swallowed books by the ton. Sadly it turned out that i had real low self discipline when it comes to other than reading things that interest me so never did well in school. Thats how it goes sometimes. |
